We spent one night at the Best Western Garden Inn and that was plenty. If I had needed to stay in SLC for more than one night, I would have found another hotel. The location is good - just a few blocks from Temple Square, but the room was dirty and old. We had a room with 2 beds (we only needed one), but that turned out to be good because one of the beds was completely broken and crooked. I laid a water bottle on the bed and it rolled right off. The bathtub had a lot of mildew and there were gross stains all over the carpet. The a/c was really loud and we had a terrible night's sleep.

The employees were friendly and the continental breakfast was adequate. We got the room for $50 on Hotels, but I would have gladly paid more for a hotel that was a little nicer and cleaner.

Upon arrival the staff at the front desk were very rude and practically threw the keys at us. The stairs looked very unsafe not to mention the rug paths around the outside of the rooms were incredibly dirty and ripped up. We got to our room and right off the bat one of our keys didn't work. Opened the door only to smell cigarettes and have the front lamp not work. Looking around there were brown stains on the window sil and chairs, the beds were nicely made so we thought maybe it wasn't so bad. Nope, half of the outlets didn't work, the tub faucet wouldn't stop running, there's old bug traps under the sink, the box spring has putrid stains all over it, the switch for the second lamps was unresponsive and the floor constantly rumbles. Our AC wasn't working but lucky for us a maintenance guy who was very nice and polite came and fixed it right away and was eating an orange Which made our room smell nice. The shower curtain barely stretches across and only comes an inch past the top of the tub and tiles were practically falling off the wall. We called the front desk to ask about the pool Which was sectioned off with caution tape only to get her response of "OH that's weird I don't know" followed by her just hanging up. Like what????????? The next day she still had no news for us and when we called about toilet paper and towels we were again rudely scoffed at over the phone AND when we went down to pick up the supplies. Is this how you treat the people staying here? Goodness, we tried our best to like this place but it just kept on getting worse.

Stayed here just for the night and wouldn't stay again.
Room was spacious but not the cleanest I've ever stayed in. The bed covers were full of cigarette burns, and although they may have been perfectly clean, it felt grimey. It wasn't a place I felt comfortable spending a lot of time.
Breakfast was okay and the staff were friendly enough.
Hotel was in walking distance of the city, about 15 minutes or so.

My wife and I travel to Salt Lake often and we have stayed at wonderful and premiere hotels but we decided to give this hotel a chance last night because it seemed affordable and close to downtown. It was a mistake that we regret. Upon entering the property we walked to the lobby and saw the employees standing out smoking and chatting with friends. It was very tacky and unpleasant to walk through a smoke infested walk way and upon entering the lobby looked like it hadn't been cleaned in years. We had to wait an incredible amount of time to get checked in and then we had a 2nd floor balcony apartment and our keys would not work and when I went to back to ask them to fix them it seemed like they were bothered by it. Our room was filthy and the room was stuffy and the air conditioner took about 6 or 7 hours to cool down and the WIFI-connection did not work at all. Furthermore, after we checked into the room and realized it was a sauna my wife went down to the front desk and told them if it was cooled down by the time we arrived back from our evening activities that they would have to move us and she said the smirked at her and I told her they are lucky that I was not present for that encounter. The employees seem very unprofessional and classless and need a class in customer service because it was very evident it was lacking. They are lucky that I was not present for the rude encounter with my wife because I would have said wipe that grin off your face and refund my payment and you don't deserve any of my damn money. It was the worst experience ever and I would rather have payed $300 a night to stay at the Hilton rather than staying at that dump. If I can help just one person to not stay at this hotel then I will consider my mission successful. I am also going to report this dump to the better business bureau and have them put this dump on their watch list because it should be condemned. It is by far the worst accommodation in Salt Lake City. I am truly pissed and will never ever ever stay in that dump again.

Very nice property. Grounds nicely kept, staff very pleasant, rooms nicely decorated, comfortable and clean. Good location downtown with easy access on and off the interstate. Renovations are ongoing. Will definately use this hotel again.

We drove in to a bunch of homeless people sitting outside of the front door. The front staff were in sweats sitting on couches, we didn't even know they worked there. It was so scary. We canceled and left immediately. People were everywhere yelling and roaming the parking lot. DO NOT COME HERE. We felt so unsafe. The rooms are awful. We were only in it for 5 minutes and the beds were basically cots. It was full of people standing outside smoking and lurking. It was the worst hotel experience I've ever had.

This is the most horrific hotel in the world...seriously. I booked this room because of the location and the pictures made it look pretty nice. When I got there I was appalled. There were homeless people in the hallways, drug addicts hanging out in the lobby and cracked out individuals knocking on everyone's room doors. The room was absolutely disgusting. The sheets were dirty, the walls had weird blood looking stains all over them. The chairs were stained, the lamps were broken, there was hair in the sink...etc. I left for about 6 hours, when I came back someone had slept in BOTH beds, used all the towels, it smelled like cigarettes SO BAD that I couldn't breath. There was a needle on the sink and make up all over the place. When I told the receptionist....SHE DIDN'T CARE! AND they won't refund my money! The fact that SOMEONE ELSE used my room and I had to pay for it is terrible and absolutely terrifying. DO NOT STAY HERE....RUN AWAY FAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This place needs to be shut down immediately before someone gets raped in there....if I would have been there when those people broke into my room who knows what would have happened to me.

Just no. Booked for two nights, only stayed one because I arrived late and had no other options. It was filthy, not maintained, and had a terrible odor. My employer should have read the reviews on this site before booking. Never again. Enough said.

Have you ever wanted to be apart of the hit TV show Cops? Well you're in luck! For the low price of $39.99 your dream can come true. Your stay will include the following free of charge: red necks/white trash(including arguments about "respect" and "people being sl*ts), parking lot drugs, TV's from the 1990's, crying babies, moldy bathrooms, and much more. The royal garden inn also includes wake up services such as: people screaming at 2am "mama where you put my boot?", police sirens, people falling down stairs(?), doors slamming every 5 minutes, and general parking lot stupidity at all hours of the night. If youre lucky you'll even get one of the royal garden inns "Louisiana rooms" where its always humid and 95 regardless of what you set the thermostat to. So come to the royal garden inn, you won't regret it(probably a lie).
