The Crystal Inn Hotel & Suites in Salt Lake City comes highly recommended for its exemplary service, which includes an accommodating staff, an efficient shuttle service, and a complimentary breakfast that guests enjoy. The atmosphere is lauded for its cleanliness and comfort, with rooms offering updated furnishings and ample space. While the rooms are spacious and generally well-equipped, occasional noise and musty odors have been flagged by some travelers. The hotel's location is another highlight, with easy access to downtown attractions and public transport, though it may feel somewhat remote to a few. Overall, guests consider the hotel to provide excellent value for money.

Location: Just a few blocks away from the main downtown area of SLC that would be an easy walk or Uber if you don't have a car. Or the Trax line stop is just down the street.

Price: Less than the other hotels in the area and a great rate for it's location.

Comfort: The room was a great size, the bed was VERY comfortable, and everything was extremely clean.

Other things: Easy check-in/out and friendly staff! I also really liked that they had filtered water available by their ice machine on the first floor.

COVID: The breakfast was a takeaway bagel due, but was bagged up with a knife and peanut butter/jelly and easy to grab at check-out. Masks are required in public areas. Housekeeping is limited, so you do have to ask to get on a list if you want/need it. Everything was very clean and well thought-out by the staff.

My husband and I stayed here after we lost power for several days due to a wind storm. I am immunosuppressed and was worried about being in a hotel. However, I saw first-hand the cleaning and disinfecting the cleaning staff engaged in, and I was deeply impressed. Our room was sanitized and very clean. I also appreciated that they allowed us to check in many hours early so we could get some heat and access to power/internet more quickly. The breakfast was boxed up individually, and there was a variety of hot and cold beverages in to-go containers that were great. The only critique is I really could have used some salt, pepper, and ketchup packets. But that’s a minor complaint. I’d highly recommend featuring here! The staff was incredibly friendly and the room was comfortable, and the huge jetted tub was great, too!

This hotel was very efficient with ground floor rooms with laminated floors for travelers with pets.

I stayed with my teacup chihuahua and she was right at home. My room was clean and fairly updated.

There was a microwave and refrigerator standard in every room.

The staff was overly courteous and helpful! I was able to park my car just outside my room’s window, it also made for easy carrying of items from the car to the room.

There was a hot tub, open late until midnight that I wasn’t able to make it to, but it’s always relaxing.

The breakfast the next morning was incredible! It was made COVID safe by staff pre-packing containers to take. A FULL and delicious breakfast and great way to get on the road full and cozy.

Overall great place, especially if you’re looking for a cheaper hotel, or on a budget, with all the conveniences of an expensive hotel.

This hotel does not do housekeeping. You pay regular full price but get less service. Every hotel we have stayed in since Covid hit has been cleaner except this one. This hotel decided to stop cleaning completely. They don’t even walk in your room. After arriving at our rooms around 9:30 pm with 5 exhausted kids, we had to call and request garbage bags from the desk so we could take out all the food containers from dinner the night before and breakfast that morning. They serve a hot breakfast but it is to go only and they make you eat in your room but they don’t take out your trash. The room smelled horrible. We had one bed that needed changed. We had put the little sign on the bed requesting the change but since they never even go in your room, it did not get done. Apparently you have to call the desk and request it. So when we called, they dropped off sheets and told us to make it ourself. We were on the second floor but had so many people, and the elevator is tiny, so we used the stairs. There was no signs in the stairwells at all about no housekeeping. It was however posted in the elevator. So we did not see it. If you book here, be aware you have to call and ask for any housekeeping or they do not do it.

Thank you for letting us know about your stay. We are very sorry you had a less than satisfactory experience with us. During this time most guests do not want staff in the room after they have checked in. We do offer stay over service when it is requested by the guest. We try and inform our guests about this by posting it at the reception desk and all of the elevators. We are sorry you were not aware of this. We really hope you will give us another chance.

Pros
Large room
Sauna
Nice-staff
Easy access to the hospital
Parking was easy
Shower water pressure was great
Hair dryer was a rockstar
Bed was comfy

Cons
My Room wasn’t clean when I arrived (coffee table had crumbs and coffee cup rings) which made me question if everything else had been wiped down.

I stayed for 5 days and 4 nights. I requested on the third night that someone come clean my room. Trash and food needed to be removed and I needed towels. Room was never cleaned when I returned The 4th day from being at the hospital all day and I had to go down to the front to request a towel... very unsanitary to have trash in the room that long.

Breakfast was not my cup of tea...eggs, potatoes and sausage set out in about 20-30 to go containers starting at 6am.

Would I stay here again??? I think I might have if my room had been cleaned, I don’t love sleeping where all my trash is.

Thank you for for your feedback. We so sorry you had issues with cleanliness during your stay. We pride ourselves in keeping our hotel very clean and well maintained. So this is disappointing. During these times with the virus we are only cleaning rooms that are staying over on a request basis. We are so sorry you did request service and it did not happen. We are reviewing this with the staff to see what happened. We wish we could serve our hot buffet breakfast now. But with restrictions we are trying to serve hot items without the buffet. We are sorry you did not enjoy it. We will see how we can improve this. We hope you will give us another try.

This is a very, very nice hotel. When checking in your receive a packet which includes a bottle of water, granola bar and a snickers candy bar. The hotel has a pool but was not accessible during this time. Our reservation was upgraded to the Executive King suite which was a nice surprise. The room was spacious with a sitting area, flat screen TV, a couch and chair, bureau closet with iron/board, wet bar area with cabinets for storage, coffee maker, sink, fridge and microwave. The sleep area had a desk, chair, King bed, dresser with another flat screen TV and clock radio. I was a little hesitant because this room was by the elevator #423 but there was not much noise. There is a fitness room and you must sign up at the front desk to use it. Upon leaving, we were given breakfast bags with included a wrapped bagel, jam, peanut butter, granola bar and an apple. This was a nice stopover stay from our travel and I would recommend this hotel. The staff was nice and hospitable.

The Hotel is very nice, has everything you need, during covid you reserve a time slot for the pool/hot tub area but that's understandable and they sanitize between guests. Face masks required in all areas outside your room. Still serve breakfast in a to-go container so you can take it back to your room. The room was clean, and the bed was comfortable which is a must for me when I book a hotel! We had a great large tub for soaking in our room. The staff was friendly and helpful! The only thing to be aware of is there are so many transients around this part of the city you don't feel safe walking anywhere especially after dark, so I would plan to drive or get a cab if you are going out but all in all, this was a very comfortable stay.

My husband and I stayed here one night based on TA reviews and price after our flight was cancelled due to an earthquake. Power was out all over Salt Lake, so none of the hotels were at full strength. The Crystal Inn had limited power and internet, but they found us a room with both. The staff could not have been nicer, and carried our bags to the third floor as, due to aftershocks, the elevator could not be run. Also, due to Covid-19, all restaurants in SLC were closed; however, the hotel gave us a to-go hot breakfast, including pancakes and eggs, which was better than dine-in restaurant breakfasts at most comparable hotels. We would definitely return.

We needed a wheelchair accessible and pet-friendly room. A tall order, I know. When we arrived, our room was in the perfect location and was set up beautifully, but there was a terrible smell of urine. Scott and Alex lept into action, found us another room which was just as perfect and smelled fresh as a daisy, and even brought us free gift bags of goodies for our trouble. Later in our stay, Scott found me a quiet place to work when my hotel room was being used by my fellow guests. Wifi was spectacular. We were offered a private pool/spa time (so that we wouldn't have to share with other guests during Covid). Breakfast was boxed and ready to take away. (Eggs were underwhelming, but everything else was good.)

Overall, I had a really great stay. I felt like the staff genuinely cared about our comfort and safety. I can't speak for all Crystal Inns, but I would strongly recommend this particular location to other travelers.

Our first time staying here, for 2 nights, hubby and I. We really like this hotel and would stay here again when visiting. Parking on-site is free and you're downtown. Highly advise walking to nearby restaurants and shops as SLC has a pay for parking system on app and it's very hard to get a spot in the evening for dinner. Very friendly and helpful front desk folks. Nice indoor pool and hot tub. Very clean facility. Our room was a double queen bed and large with a loveseat, coffee table, table with two chairs, dresser space, end tables, mini fridge and microwave. Pleny of USB ports. Double sinks are just as you enter room while toilet and roomy shower over tub are in separate room. Our beds were very comfortable, maybe new? Nice bedding. Large window without a nice view (rm 432) but we didn't ask for a nice one. Sheer and also darkening shades. Easy to use TV/remote. Ice handy on all floors. Small gift shop with food snacks. Nice area for included breakfast. Their breakfast buffet is AWESOME! We loved their variety and very tasty yogurt with strawberry chunks. I especially loved their selection each day: a type of egg, meat, potato (sliced and great! not hash browns) and always very fresh sliced oranges and grapefruit, and more. They also had either French toast or pancakes. This is a really special hotel in a big city and very reasonable prices. Highly recommend.

We do furnish a free shuttle service from Amtrak to the hotel 24 hours a day. Because arrival and baggage claim service times do change with delays and unforeseen circumstances, we provide the shuttle service on demand when you arrive. If you would be so kind as to give us a call when you have arrived and claimed your baggage, we would be happy to send the shuttle to pick you up. You may do this at any time of the day or night. Where is the pick up point for the ski bus? How far of a walk is it?
Answer from MacCall Management
Salt Lake City, Utah
The Ski Bus picks up in front of our hotel once each morning. It is typically around 8:00am. We do not have the schedule for the upcoming Ski season yet so we do not have an exact time. They usually notify us in the fall. There is also a trax stop two blocks up the street that leaves every 15 minutes. Let us know if you need anything else.
