The Salt Lake Plaza SureStay Collection by Best Western delights guests with its prime location, offering easy access to nearby attractions and public transit. While the hotel's atmosphere and cleanliness receive commendations for spacious and immaculate rooms, the decor's datedness is a recurring observation. Travelers appreciate the friendly staff, but some have noted service could improve in responsiveness.
Although the value proposition is debated, given the additional fees for parking and breakfast, there's an acknowledgment of the hotel's competitive rates. Overall, the need for room renovations is a point of consensus among visitors.

Had a very good stay here for almost an entire week. Here is why:
- The staff is friendly and helpful (thank you Jess and Jack!)
- The location is excellent. Right in the heart of downtown, walkable to all the big sights.
- The view of the city and mountains from the room is beautiful. There is a tiny balcony but it's permanently locked.
- Rooms are spacious. The bed is comfy. The shower pressure is good and warm.
- Even the room cleaning staff was so friendly any time I would pass by the corridors.
- Good price for all that you get.
The biggest thing they could improve upon is the pillows are not the comfiest.

When planning my trip to Salt Lake City (from California) I chose Salt Lake Plaza Hotel due to its low price and superb location.
I was attending FanX 2021.
The hotel was great! The staff was super and the place was spotlessly clean. As a non-smoker it's wonderful to have a fresh-smelling room without the slightest trace of cigarette smell.
Especially nice to find were the real pillows! Not the useless insubstantial things most hotels give you for pillows.
Also great was the parking: a covered parking structure with attendant.
Due to the location I left my car parked my four days in Salt Lake City and walk everywhere. It's right across the street from the Salt Palace Convention Center and a short walk to the Family History Center, the Temple, a huge shopping mall, a grocery store, a Starbucks, and several restaurants, pubs, and even breweries.
My one quibble was that the hotel only appears to have two carts, woefully inadequate for a hotel that size. For days I never saw a single cart, meaning many trips to the car. Fortunately I got a great parking spot right by the side entrance. (On my drive home I stayed at a hotel half the size which had four carts.)

The Hotel location is excellent and nearby shopping and food are within walking distance. The staff are the friendliest ever, very helpful and responsive to every need. The hotel is “very” clean and attention to details are quite good. I notice through my extensive travels the maintenance in various hotels is sometimes lacking, but here it was not. From working lightbulbs to floors shined and carpets cleaned. It was all in place.
The entire staff made me feel at home during my stay, as well as a few staff even remembered my name. I would and “DO” highly recommend this hotel , wether your traveling for business or pleasure. If your travels take you to SLC UTAH. The staff was knowledgeable of things to do in the area, from hiking to exploring. I was impressed with the certainty of a few of these hotel counter hostess( hospitality) workers as I overheard them explaining the various things “to do” while in the city.
I would highly recommend this hotel to those discerning travelers who desire to be in the right location for their various excursions.

So started in room. Not saying its bad but built in the 1990 or even 1980s and has not changed since. Not saying its bad, I'd rather say i will never stay again and I am glad I had shoes to wear on their carpets.
Advertised as having a restaurant... it was a jb's and had closed so no food available at the hotel. They made recommendations frankly we preferred going tonother hotels. Our friends had their booking cancelled through their booking agency and theynwere forced down the road to the radisson where they had the last laugh.
I sat on the loo and water started coming through the ceiling on morning 2. We called maintenance and they said they needed to tear the ceiling down to find the fault so would upgrade uo to a suite. We were pleased thinking it cannot be worse lol.
Walking in the room is a sink, microwave and fridge which only worked on frozen and had no way of stopping it freezing drinks. Opposite was the wardrobe as far away from the bedroom as possible.
The living room was the hilarious joke. That's where the jacuzzi shower was right in the living room looking like something from a 1980 porn set. My wife was horrified. The jacuzzi bath and shower were so old they could have gone onto antiques roadshow. The shower head plaster loose and it hung from the wall. The funniest was when my wife had a shower first and then living room steamed up revealing a heart and rude arrow drawn on the window only visible when steamed up. Obviously the window was never cleaned.
Worse came in the jack and Jill toilet between the bedroom and kitchen. Measuring maybe 8 feet wide and 4 feet deep and 8 feet to the ceiling. You sit on the toilet directly opposite a mirror that starts 2 feet from the floor and goes to the ceiling. So your delightful view of yourself having a s**t is priceless and awful.
If you are ever in salt lake city do yourself a favour..... book anywhere just don't go to the plaza or as the large broken neon sign on the side says plaz as the a is broken.
Staff were lovely hotel is dreadful

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary in the honeymoon sweet. The bathtub is huge and amazing! The room was clean and comfortable. The staff were great. We needed forks at 10:30 PM for our dessert and they brought them to our room. Would definitely recommend!!

This property is in an excellent location to visit LDS historic sites and part of downtown Salt Lake City. According to the front desk, it is actually owned by the LDS Church. Perhaps they may want to invest into making some upgrades?
The rooms are large, beds are comfortable, everything is clean and the climate control works well. But showers were cold (pool water temp) and they have closed what was one of the best features of this property, the restaurant.
In addition, hallways are dark and apparently there is no system to alert housekeeping when someone has checked out. It has been a long time since I heard maids going door to door to see if people were still there.
We will probably stay here again, but perhaps not in the winter time when a hot shower is most appreciated.

Lake plaza is one of the worst hotels that we have stayed at. The only positive thing about the hotel is its close proximity to the LDS Library.
The service at the front desk is very poor, in particular the front desk manager. I asked for some assistance about various local tourist facilities, and got told that they knew nothing about them, and said i should look at the rack of tour brochures in the lobby. There was no restaurant, the coffee machine in the room did not work, the Ice machines on 3 consecutive floors were not working. We stayed for a week and did not receive any room service. We were told that there was none available, and if we wanted clean towels then we needed to go to the front counter and collect them. The air-conditioning unit in the room was not working correctly, and was so noisy that we had trouble getting to sleep. We wanted to stay an additional night, but the hotel said they were changing their computer system. This was despite having spare rooms, and thus could not book us in. We were actually grateful for this and spend our last might at the Radisson, in a much nicer room, and at a better room rate.

A perfect affordable location for research at the Family History library—a stone's throw away. The WiFi was very slow in my room. The furnishings are old and showing their age. There was a small patch of what appeared to be mold in the upper back corner of the bath and a colleague had some mold in her bath, too. Apart from that, cleanliness was excellent. The beds were great. Micro and fridge were great. Desk chair was broken; maintenance brought a good one speedily. The cable tv reception was poor on a number of channels. Outlets were all for three prong plugs, which was fine for me, but others would likely want combo with USB plugs. In ADA rooms like mine, shower heads should be left on the low bar setting, not way high in standard position. I could barely reach it to get it down. The safe in my room did not lock, so was not usable. The rooms are adequate, feel very 1970s, and are roomy, but could use a design "refresh." This place is good for the basics. I’d stay again, but don’t expect the high-end sleek appeal that expensive or remodeled places have.

Stayed here for 2 nights. Chose this location because of Temple Square being close and to other downtown attractions plus parking was included if you book directly through hotel website. If you want a room with a view in comments put Upper floor; city or mountain view.
Check in was quick and easy, staff friendly and helpful. We had a deluxe queen room which was spacious, clean with comfy beds, refrigerator, microwave, one cup coffee maker and a hair dryer. Separate sinks was nice too. Great city view.
Only issue I have is how small the night stand was, had to take clock and phone off so I could set my Cpap on there and have room for water cup. Luckily the lamp had extra plugs for it.

During my stay, the cleaning staff was consistency inferior with incomplete cleaning or superficial cleaning in replenishing room supplies.
Hotel is very ideal to anyone planning on researching at the Family History Library.

About 4 miles. Probably 10-15 minutes
No, only service animals are welcome at the property.
Sorry. We don't have pets so I don't know.
I had previously answered this question, however, it doesn't appear to be posted. This is rather late reply, but the Trax runs parallel to the hotel. It is .03 miles and within a very short walking distance. My apologies for such a late response even though I had posted it.
I would double check with the hotel on the times to make sure they have not changed.
