Detailed Reviews
The hotel was very nice and clean. They offer a shuttle service to the airport that picked us up when our flight arrived at 11pm. The guy driving the shuttle was super friendly and stopped at a local gas station so we could get food and some drinks after taking an all day flight to Salt Lake. It was really appreciated. When we returned to Salt Lake we booked another night at the hotel and took the 4am shuttle back to the airport. This hotel is definitely worth staying in if you are flying into or out of Salt Lake.

I chose to stay at this property because of an early flight out of SLC and to take advantage of the park and fly rate. The hotel is not brand new but it is in excellent condition and very clean. The room and bed were comfortable and I slept well. I had no problems leaving my vehicle in the parking lot or with the shuttle to/from the airport. My only complaint was with the staff at the front desk - they seemed aloof and not interested in assisting me, and I had to remind them about leaving my vehicle for the week. They tried to add another parking charge on top of my stay when my rate included the extended stay parking. In the end it was all cleared up properly.

The worst thing about this place is that the end stairways only leave the building, they do not have a 1st floor entry. Then you cannot get back into the hotel through those doors. If you bring pets and don't want to bring them through the hubub of the bar after letting them outside, you have to prop the door and hope no one closes it.
The suites are very nice and a good price. The bathroom door is in the front room rather than the bedroom, which is better. They also don't have a free breakfast bar, so be sure to spend the extra 12-15 to buy breakfast ahead of time. The breakfast is very very good though and it's a bargain for $4-5/person paid ahead.

We stayed 1 night before our 7 am flight. There is no b-fast included. The room and bathroom were OK and clean. Unfortunately the constant fan option for the AC was disabled, which is a problem for me. I cannot sleep well when the AC keeps turning on and off. It gets too hot before it turns on and too cold before it turns off.
The hotel provides an airport shuttle. We had an excellent and a terrible experience with two shuttle drivers. Upon arrival, David, the shuttle driver at that time approached us and offered some excellent advice that saved us time and possible aggravation at 4am next day. He also offered help. It was a pleasure to get to know him. However, in the morning, we had the misfortune to have John as our shuttle driver. During the ride to the airport I realized that I forgot to return the keys for the room and asked him to drop them at teh hotel when he returns. His answer was that he is only a driver and I should do that. Due to this I decided against giving him a tip. After he took off out two carry-ons at the airport, John demanded a tip stating that what he does is a service. He didn't get a tip, not from us.

Hello suzannaPortland, Thank you for taking the time to write a review of our hotel. I am so sorry to see that our shuttle driver caused such an issue for you. I will speak with him about this to make sure it does not happen again. I am also sorry that the AC in your room did not have the constant fan feature. Most of our rooms do have this, but unfortunately with supply issues we have had to get some that do not have this feature on them. I am sorry that there was a misunderstanding about the Holiday Inn breakfast. All Holiday Inn's do not serve a free breakfast, instead they have a full service restaurant on-site for our guest to enjoy. If you are looking for a complimentary breakfast, the Holiday Inn Express brand does offer that, they just do not have a restaurant on-site. We hope that you will give us another chance in the future. Thank you, Alex Hammond General Manager

Functionally, nice looking property. Staff friendly. Food ok. Little things left unattended, checked in room w/bloodied pillow. Housekeeping clearly didn't inspect that room. Moved to a room with light bulbs burned out. Took 3 messages and two days to get them replaced. Meeting coordinator dropped the ball on meeting layout, meals, etc.

This HI had several things going for it. It is a very attractive building on its exterior and boasts a really beautiful lobby. It is VERY convenient to the interstate, and the trip to downtown is short and fairly direct. The staff is very pleasant and helpful, which is a definite plus.
The hours for the pool were extensive. When we went on a Monday morning, the spa was out of service because it was being refilled and chemicals replaced. This was disappointing, but the timing of this maintenance was understandable after a weekend of probably heavy use.
The room itself was pleasant enough, but it was dated and a bit run-down. There was definite wear on the furniture; the vinyl on the seat of the desk chair was worn right through to the fabric backing. There was a chunk missing from the carpet at the door, so it was loose and frayed in that spot. The wall around the shower was raised, most likely from being waterlogged at one time. Very oddly, the bathroom door would not stay open, which was most irritating.
Overall, the hotel was perfectly adequate but not anything special. A 3.5 score would be accurate. The price was more reasonable than others in the area, so this should be a consideration when making your hotel choice.

Bottom line:
Their website clearly states “complementary airport shuttle is on call 24/7.” In reality, their shuttle actually runs 0400-0900…outside that time, they’ll call you an Uber (and good luck getting one in a timely manner due to the nationwide rideshare driver shortage).
We arrived at 11 pm last Thursday (27 May), and I called to arrange a shuttle pickup. The employee at the front desk simply said “our shuttle only runs from 4 am til 9 am.” No mentioning of sending an Uber our way. It took me nearly 45 minutes, but I finally got a Lyft to the hotel…a 4 minute drive. No apology from the hotel staff for the miscommunication.
Fix your website please, as it reeks of false advertising.

It was ok. After we checked in and went to our room (at around 7:30pm) housekeeping never cleaned the room from the last guest. We went back down and the front staff was very kind, apologized and gave us vouchers for free breakfast for the 2 days we were there and, of course, gave us a new room.
Then the next day, our room keys didn’t work, so we had to go back down and get new keys.
Then we took our rental car back to the airport the night before we left. We called the hotel to get the shuttle to take us back to the hotel. After 9 times of trying and the phone being disconnected, someone finally picked up the phone and said he’d send the shuttle driver. After 20 min and no shuttle, we stopped another hotel shuttle driver to see if he could take us to his hotel and we’d walk back to the HI. He said he saw the shuttle driver in the “waiting parking lot” just sitting there. We called the Holiday Inn again and after 3rd tried, the staff picked up the phone and said he’d call again. After a total of 30 min the shuttle driver finally came.
The room was comfortable but aged. There was a hole in the bathroom door as if someone punched it. The desk chair was worn. The hotel needs some love.
I think they are short staffed like everywhere.
We reserved the airport shuttle for 9:30am and he was there waiting for us. It’s interesting that they don’t drop you off at the “departure” area but level 1 for the hotel pickup. And then we had to go up to level 3 for airline checkin. Not a biggie but just interesting.
I’d probably stay at another hotel next time but I don’t see us returning to SLC.

I booked this hotel as it was close by the airport and had a shuttle service.
That did not seem to be a good idea: the rooms decoration is very dark (brown!) and the carpet floor makes it look very old-fashioned. The room needs a renovation for sure: recent Holiday Inn Express hotels look far better than this one. My room even had a hole in the bath room door. The bath room has a kind of walk in shower with sliding doors. Be aware that the top rail of the sliding door is rather low, you will hit it with your head if you are a taller person.
When I’m back in the area, I will look for another hotel!

No food or drink service offered between breakfast & bar opening in the evening.
Everyone staying at a holiday Inn gets free breakfast so I wondered why it was advertised everywhere as being $15.
It was only when the waitress kept pestering for a tip that I realised why that price was set for slop that you have to serve yourself, but tip the waitress $3 for bad coffee,
No way in hell they make scrambled eggs from anything that has ever seen the inside of a chicken….
Other than that - rooms were nice but simply functional
The breakfast area turns into a bar in the evening - the bar is good fun, the staff are great & generally a good vibe

It's a pleasure having you as our guest. I am truly sorry you did not experience an exemplary stay due to our hotel not serving food as well as drinks and the quality of our breakfast. This is certainly below our usual high standard of service. Please be certain that I have noted and forwarded your feedback for the management to improve. In the middle of your experience, I am glad our room's comfort and our bar were still appreciated. Please grant us the opportunity to prove ourselves again. Best Regards, Ben W.
