Detailed Reviews
We choose SpringHill Suites when traveling as a family because the rooms come with an extra sleeping area. We chose this SpringHill Suites because of price and location.
The location was convenient to the airport (less than 15 minutes), and they offer a shuttle. We took advantage of their free parking. The hotel is across the street from R&R BBQ, which was a great dinner choice. The same shopping center also has a Subway.
Breakfast was better than typical for a hotel breakfast with good eggs and crispy bacon.
This hotel is family friendly and clean. We enjoyed our stay and highly recommend if you are going to be in Salt Lake City.

Stayed for a week as my base for a ski trip with the family. Hotel staff was freindly and very accomodating. The breakfast was very good and the added extra was the new lounge area that you can grab a cocktail in the eveneing. Enjoyed our stay.

Slightly older but meticulously maintained hotel is clean, comfortable and staffed with very friendly, professional and attentive staff. The configuration of the rooms at Springhill Suites are about as good as it gets with its own self contained kitchenette/wet bar, workstation + sitting room, ample closet space and three quarter ensuite. My only concern is that despite it being a no smoking hotel, rooms smelt like smoke and some guests were actively still smoking in their room during my stay. Everything else went so smoothly that I decided to let it go and not let it affect me. Location is good, a quieter part of downtown and right across from a Starbucks and other amenities. Hats off to the management team of the hotel, it's rare that I encounter a 10/10 experience with every single person working.

I rarely leave reviews but this hotel was so terrible i feel like others should know. I always read reviews before booking at a hotel and for the most part the reviews were good. Not the case with our stay. The customer service was terrible and almost the entire staff we encountered during our stay was terribly rude, especially front desk clerk Karen. If you are traveling with kids I would highly suggest you stay somewhere else if you plan on utilizing the pool/hot tub. The hot tub has max capacity of 5 people. There is a sign posted but its hidden behind the chair lift and isn't super noticeable. Karen came in and made it clear to everyone that there was to be no more than 5 people at a time and no longer than 15 minutes at a time (we had 6, 3 sitting inside and 3 with there legs only) and said angrily that now they were going to have to close down the hot tub due all the lotions etc from everyone. She said they chemicals in the hot tub aren't able to work properly when there are more than 5 people. They have a security guard that walks the premises which I appreciated, until he pulled out his cell phone and was recording our children when they were down in the main area of the hotel (this happened every night we were there). They have security cameras throughout the hotel so I'm not sure why he felt the need to use his own personal phone to record my children. I had to call for maintenance 3x during our stay for a toilet that wouldn't flush. The walls are paper thin and we could hear the conversations in the rooms on each side of us. And lastly, the last morning we were there we went down for breakfast and thought we would be fine going down 15 minutes before they closed it down but they had already started turning things off and putting food away. The lady that ran it watched me as I put a bagel in the toaster which she had already unplugged and let me sit there for 10 minutes waiting for it to toast until I saw it was unplugged. She then came up to me and said the toaster wasn't working and I told her it didn't work because she had unplugged it. She didn't say a word and just walked away.

The hotel was just okay. I wasn't impressed with Covid safety which was very disappointing. There were signs about social distancing and not sharing the elevator - yet an employee hopped right on the elevator with my husband and me. The promised sanitizing wipes were not in the room for guest use; I didn't see any hand sanitizer near elevators. The hotel was completely full and the room had not been vacated for 24 hours before our stay as I had requested when reserving.
Otherwise the hotel was okay. A bit worn, and parking was crowded on the weekend.
The girl serving breakfast was a bright spot - super friendly and helpful (of course breakfast items very limited due to Covid and that is perfectly understandable).

We had the misfortune of staying here at the beginning and end of a terrific guided tour of Utah’s amazing national parks. This part of near-downtown SLC is overrun with homeless folks, some harmless but some more menacing. Walking anywhere from the hotel, even during the day, will give rise to interesting encounters. I can’t blame the hotel for this, of course, but it is a factor to consider. I’ve stayed at hotels all over the United States and this is the first I’ve seen that requires a room key for access from the main entrance to the lobby on a 24/7 basis. When checking in, then, you have to hit a buzzer to request entrance and the front desk has to let you in. Good safety practice under the circumstances but a bad sign. We were warned that some of the homeless residents tend to break into cars, so nothing of value should be visible. This is always a good rule, and one we followed, but our vehicle was still vandalized during our stay. Perhaps better lighting and security could help.
Apart from the decaying neighborhood, the hotel has other serious flaws. I don’t want to insult any individual employees, so I’ll just say that breakfast is a dramatic event. Even worse, the room AC units are terrible. As in useless. We had 2 different rooms (before the tour and after) on 2 different floors. Both were insanely hot. Others in our tour group reported the same issue. The room AC units cannot keep up with summer heat. So if If you like sleeping in an 80 degree room, this is your place! And the walls are very thin, so you can hear the hallway and your neighbors while you roast. In short, we would sleep in our car (with no valuables visible) before staying here again.

This hotel is the first Marriott that really disappointed us, we arrived in four in the afternoon and they gave us a room with only one double bed made..... then asking for explanations at the reception they told us that there is the sofa bed, but we have to open it ourselves and make the bed ourselves..... never happened in our life....! The next day we left at 8 AM and returned at 5 PM...and the room was not even tidied up! Too bad.

Hotel was clean and the breakfast was ok. However I had someone come into my room at midnight while I was sleeping. The front desk gave my room to someone else, when I called the front desk they seemed annoyed I was already in the room. Mind it was my second night there. Imagine all the bad things that can happen if they let anyone come into your room in the middle of the night.

First of all it is not downtown it's in an iffy area where you would not want to walk to downtown, which is obvious by the fact that the front door is locked 24/7. The room was fine but breakfast was the worst I have ever had at a SHS. No Coffee both days and when I asked why they told me they were busy. No toaster, oatmeal was like gruel, a watery mess, and to make things worse the coffee maker in my room only had decaf.

Inn for a short stay in Salt Lake city: free parking with easy parking, good sleeping, "sitting" area in the room, downtown within walking distance and restaurants nearby.
The air conditioning is noisy however and the Breakfast very average with plastic cutlery. One elevator for the entire Inn.
