My husband and I stayed here over Valentine's weekend and it was just an average motel. The parking lot was very tiny completely full when we got there. But the manager up front was very nice and helpful and let us know we could park right in front of the lobby with no problem. The motel was being remodeled while we were there so there was a lot of construction going on. You could tell our room was older because the shower was peeling in some places and some parts of the linoleum were cracked.
Overall, it was very budget friendly a good place to stay if you are just staying for a short time.

Dear Guest, Thank you for staying with us, and we're sorry to hear that you had some issues with the showers, but glad to hear that you had a fair stay otherwise. Exterior construction has now been finished, so we can serve you better in the future.

Loved the very low price, loved the location. Room was probably clean, but in disrepair, as was the exterior of the hotel. The breakfast was pretty well picked over when I got there 15 minutes before it was to close, including no cups...or coffee, for that matter, and an unenthusiastic unfriendly guy at the front desk when I asked for both. So, the price might be enough to lure me back, but keep your expectations low.

This hotel (really a motel) was super clean, new, great water pressure, amazing beds, helpful front desk staff. But as a female business traveller alone, I was not expecting the motel setting with no lobby and the rooms leading directly to the outside. I was initially offered a first floor room (which I would feel unsafe in alone, since it has easy street access) and they quickly and pleasantly offered me a third floor room instead. They have amazing, fast, free wireless internet. One big drawback is no room service, not even a vending machine, which is rough on a business traveler arriving late and hungry who is unfamiliar with the area. They do have free continental breakfast till 9:30 am. No fitness center but the Embassy Suites next door was happy to let me use theirs. The pool is small and right off the parking lot but stlil pleasant enough. The staff is great. This is a terrific, affordable hotel for a vacation but not so great for business travelers.

I had to book this room last minute to deal with a family emergency in the city. The photos looked decent and reviews said it was clean and the price was great. When we arrived late in the evening, the guy behind the desk was apathetic, and actually rather rude. The stairwell up to the third floor was the beginning of my feelings that this may have been a mistake. Between the back alley feel and the phallus shaped artwork on the windows were pretty demoralizing. The cart full of junk outside the door of the room next to us didn't help. Inside the room, I immediately noticed that the walls were scuffed all over and that you could see where light fixtures had been changed. The carpet had stains and was pretty worn. MY wife found some long black hair on the towels in the bathroom, and all they supplied were a pair of bath towels. When she asked the gentleman in the lobby for replacements, he provided a single towel, forcing her to ask for another, and then a hand towel and washcloth. He was pretty rude about the whole thing. Our room had a window facing West Temple, and it's only a single pane so the road noise was significant when compared to a room in other places. There was a lack of outlets that were easily accessible next to the bed, so if you travel with a CPAP, be ready to mobe the bed to plug in. The bed was clean, and the Tempurpedic mattress was nice, but the box spring had obviously been victim to a cat that decided to sharpen its claws. After an OK night's sleep, we took morning showers. In the shower, it looks like the tile had been painted over, and the paint was peeling badly. The worst part of the room in my book is in the shower. The showerhead provided a mere dribble and was simply the most disappointing shower I've ever had in my life. It's a shame, because this property, has some real potential to be a really cool place, so I hope the owners can take this review as constructive criticism and make some improvements.

Me and my husband went on a weekend getaway to celebrate our anniversary. We looked at all of the pictures on the website and chose the “king sweet” as it was titled. Upon checking in, the man that checked us in was so rude and disrespectful, not to mention that upon trying to check in, his cell phone rings and he took a personal call completely ignoring us, then he hung up the phone and threw our keys on the counter and said “upstairs is your room” nothing further than that, I asked what room and he said it was on the key envelope. Upon walking onto the room, it smelled so bad, the room was filthy, the bed looked as if it had been made very quickly and everything just looked like it was rushed to be “cleaned” the TV had dust on it, the refrigerator had other peoples old food and garbage in it still. We called the front desk and told him about it and he rudely said “ leave, no refund or deal with it, it was cleaned, your just a snob. Being so late and being so exhausted from driving all day we braved it and stayed anyway. The best morning I had to go to my car and get Clorox wiped and wipe down the shower before I could even shower. Me and my husband packed our suitcase and went to the desk and said we wanted to check out and we wanted a refund ( as we booked for 2 nights) he said he would not refund our money and the room was fine, he claimed that in the contract that checking out early we would not get a refund, we could stay, or leave but either way we wouldn’t get our money back at all, it was our fault that we wanted to leave because the room was fine and we were stuck up while people, and told us to get the F-Word out. All of this is completely true and completely Verbatim from the conversation with him. This experience felt literally like and out of body experience and I couldn’t believe that this even happened. Please nobody stay at the Metropolitan, it is disgusting and also $147 per night!!! Worst experience of my life!

I been taken by the short con in clip joints, but I did not know a hotel could serve as a clip joint until my experience with the Metropolitan Inn. As other reviewers have noted, they take a $100 deposit. I wanted to check out after a few hours in the hotel. Early check out has never been a problem at any hotel I've ever stayed at. However, the desk clerk went and inspected my room, found an imaginary deficiency, and then told me that he was keeping my entire $100 deposit overnight until morning "so the housekeeping staff could tell him what the fine is". My only option was to come back to the hotel 12 hours later and collect what remained of my cash deposit. Because I was unable to do so, I am out $100.

We arrived on a Friday night. The hotel is right off the main drag in SLC. We were given our key and headed to our second floor room. The outdoor walkways were dirty, smelly and there were people outside smoking. When we opened the door, the room was occupied, so we walked back down to the reception area and explained this to the man on duty. He seemed confused. He then found us another room on the third floor. He walked us toward our room, but went to check on the 2nd floor situation. We continued upward. About 5 minutes later he knocked at our door to verify all were good. The room was disappointing to say the least. Dirty and old. It wasn't overly expensive, but we really thought a hotel in the heart of this major city would be better. We were happy to leave at the crack of dawn, as sleep was not easy to come by.

I booked a room here for the great location, price, and free parking. All of which Is true, but if you were expecting safe and for tourists, you are sorely mistaken. Upon arriving I realized why the price was so low. The rooms are outward facing, the clientele staying at the hotel were “rough looking” smokers, no free breakfast, the pool was disgusting looking (hotel staff said this was due to COVID restrictions), and cars in parking lot fit the clientele. We ended up canceling our reservation and stayed at a Best Western.

If I had Lysol spray, I’d have sprayed myself and all the luggage down after getting in the room. The room smelled of smoke. Thankfully the office staff was nice and understood my allergies couldn’t handle it. Gave us a full refund with no hassle. Even without the smoke issue, we were worried our car would have been missing tires in the am. Area around the hotel isn’t one we would have felt safe walking around in. People live at this hotel. Signs everywhere telling people visitors have to check in at the front desk. Looked like there was also some construction going on there.

Avoid booking this hotel at all costs ! When arriving to the hotel we were surprised when asked to pay $100 cash deposit as it had not previously been disclosed anywhere on the website. When we asked the manager to show us where it said this he refused.

Manager was extremely misogynistic and arrogant, only speaking to the man in our party.

We expected a refund when we were turned away and the hotel has held onto our money after using none of the Services. Without a doubt the worst experience I’ve ever had with a hotel. Cannot advise against it enough !
