My wife and I always enjoy staying at a B&B that reflects some Victorian charm and history and Ellerbeck Mansion has a lot of it. Starting with the original owners, one gets a good sense of Mormon traditions and lifestyles. Our innkeeper, Victoriya (Vika) was very accommodating as she had our room ready for us in-spite of us arriving rather early. Our room was spacious and the bed comfortable. The gourmet breakfast was outstanding. Made to order and quite tasty. The A/C worked well and maintained a quiet humming during the night. A very pleasant stay at a delightful B&B.

The location was great. The room and the common areas were immaculate.
The dining room was small. Breakfasts were good. And Victoria was the highlight of the B&B. She was very helpful in every way and a joy to associate with.
But what appalled me and something I have never experienced before, was that a tip was requested based on the price of the breakfast. The breakfast was included but you received a bill for the breakfast so you could tip the staff. The owner never made an appearance. I have always thought of a B&B as staying at someone's home, while this B&B was more like a hotel. Not a bad experience, just not the best B&B I have experienced.

Hello! Thank you kindly for taking the time to review your stay! We are surprised to hear you where shocked by the receipt at breakfast as this is a standard practice among many inn and b&bs! Tips are suggested but never demanded. Our staff work very hard to ensure you have a lovely stay and if you feel like you might wish to tip them you may. The owners do not live on premisses but you absolutely where in someones home, Victoriya the hotel manager and innkeeper's home. Hopefully this changes your perspective on the matter :-) We do hope we have the opportunity to host you again in the future! Best, Ellerbeck Innkeepers

We loved our stay here. The building has been preserved and has such character, with a luxurious feel. The room was large, with a comfy bed. There was coffee and snacks available for guests and common areas to sit in (with masks on due to COVID).

The breakfast was absolutely DELICIOUS - one of the best my husband and I have eaten in years.

The location is perfect - 15 minutes walk away from Temple Square, and in a quiet residential area. The only thing to note is that the building is old, so there is the odd hiss of a radiator or door closing but I slept find and am a very light sleeper.

Hello Naomi! Thank you sooo much for the lovely review of your stay! We so greatly appreciate it! Im glad you where able to sleep with the old steam radiator that heats the house, its hisses a bit but should not be too loud. For future stays we have sound machines in each room for a better and more restful sleep :-) Thank you again, Ellerbeck Innkeepers

What was supposed to have been a lovely stay for our 32nd wedding anniversary ended abruptly as a stunning disappointment before it even started when we arrived and realized how NOT private our Uinta suite was. When we called to book the stay, we were given a choice between an upstairs room (where there are 4 rooms) and a downstairs room (where there are 2 rooms). Not knowing that "downstairs" actually meant the main floor--right off the common area, we chose the downstairs room because we thought it would give us a little more privacy than the upstairs room. The double doors in the Uinta suite have a narrow space between them, which didn't feel very private because you can see out into the common area (and a determined creeper could conceivably have peered into our room). In addition, we could hear almost every word spoken by guests in the common area right outside our doors. One of the windows next to the bed has no covering for the bottom 18 inches of the window, which means that anyone who wants to look in can see everything through the window. That's not private, and guests should not need to place a pillow in front of the window to preserve their privacy! Bottom line: we did not feel comfortable staying in this room, and no other rooms were available. So, we walked out and left, not even being able to enjoy our stay. Even if we had remained in the room overnight, it's doubtful we would have slept much because of our privacy concerns. When we told the innkeeper that the privacy factor was a problem for us and that we would not be staying the night after all, she tried to empathize and say that she understood and was very sorry. However, then she wished us a wonderful evening and a happy anniversary. Seriously?!? From our perspective, that comment felt sardonic and reflected an insensitive lack of true understanding for our disappointment. We felt like the room had been misrepresented (downstairs with one other guest suite and nothing else versus main floor next to dining and sitting areas). In the end, we flushed our money down the toilet because what we thought we were getting was not, in fact, the reality. If I were you, I would not waste money on Ellerbeck Bed and Breakfast.

Hello Jay, Thank you for taking the time to write up your concerns - we take all constructive criticism very seriously as our guests are our top priority. We are sorry you felt like the room was not very private but all our rooms generally have the same level of privacy - it is a very small house (6 rooms total) and all guest rooms are off common spaces. That being said we do believe that a bed and breakfast experience is not everyone's cup of tea.The house is old and has many quirks which some people love and others simply do not. It seems like this was not the right fit. We have hosted weddings, honeymoons, anniversaries and birthdays in Uinta with much love for the room in the past - In fact Uinta is one of our most popular suites. We of course empathize with you not being comfortable in the room, but there was not much we could do to change your mind, and it was the only room available that evening. We are also very sorry you interpreted us wishing you a happy anniversary as sardonic as that is not ever ever our attitude. We where genuinely hoping that you had a wonderful rest of your evening despite the circumstances. We do wish you had spent the night and know that we would have proven to you that Ellerbeck is truly a special place. Thank you, -Ellerbeck Innkeepers

The Ellerbeck is an historic residence with six bedrooms sharing a common living area and dinning space. The rooms were lovely and breakfast delicious and made to your liking. The staff are helpful and recommend things to see in town and where to eat.

The one negative critique is that a guest brought a large dog into the Inn and his room. The reason we found the Ellerbeck was the fact it was centrally located but no pets are allowed; this no pet policy is clearly stated on the website. Late at night the dog would bark and during the morning hours or late afternoons the large dog had to pass the common spaces. We plan on returning to Salt Lake, but we will not return to this B&B.

Hello Santiago! Thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us! We do in fact have a strict no pet rule but we do allow service animals. We are terribly sorry your stay with us was disturbed by this dog. We have made our service animal guidelines a lot more strict since you last visited so I ensure you this will not be a problem in the future. We do hope that we have the opportunity to host you again and to prove that we can be a place of serenity for you. Thank you again! Ellerbeck Innkeepers

After booking and paying a year in advance, my wife and I were planning on attending a convention in SLC in May. With all the chaos going on and the B&B changing ownership we had plans to cancel our booking. After working with the new owner Kara, we were able to postpone our trip to Salt Lake City until September. Kara was easy to work with and cooperated and communicated with us. Since, it was paid in advance everything was taken care of without any trouble. I also want to give a shout out to Tyler. My wife forget to add her dietary restrictions on the breakfast menu. Tyler went way above and made her an omelet anyway.

This was the perfect place to stay after the long drive from the San Francisco Bay to Salt Lake City. The hotel is elegant and comfortable - a nice treat after a king day of travel.

The breakfast is ample and delicious. Very pleasant eating areas outdoors.

It is very easy to get to this lovely B&B from the highest but it is in a quiet area of old downtown.

Also some very interesting history. Mrs Ellerbeck was the first woman in Salt Lake City to get a divorce!

Utah is changing, and in good ways. We saw black people and a Muslim woman downtown. Also a sign for a cannabis dispensary. 😏

The Ellerbeck is a beautiful mansion in a nice neighborhood perched on a hill above Temple Square. Staff was very friendly, and breakfast was fine, though, due to Covid restrictions, it was served in the room rather than in the common area. Operated by a young couple. Walking *to* Temple Square downhill is fine, but walking back up the hill is a bit of a climb. I'd stay here again.

The property is lovely, and the innkeeper was very friendly. They have a welcoming fireplace upstairs where you can relax. The bed was very comfortable. The room was a little chilly, as you would expect in an old mansion, but they had robes and a portable heater. Bottled water and granola bars were provided in the room, but it would have been nice to have coffee/tea available. I do have to say that I was a bit underwhelmed by the breakfast. It did not look like the pictures at all. Breakfast was a pancake (fine), scrambled eggs (a bit overcooked), and a single, thin piece of bacon (!). They also had packaged muffins, cereal, and a bowl of fruit. I think they must have had bread for making toast as well. They are new owners, so I'm sure that they are still trying to hit their stride, but breakfast at a bed and breakfast should be something special (like freshly baked items and more inspired entrees) as well as a bit more plentiful. I would go back, if in the area to see how things have improved.

We stayed in SLC on the way to Zion and beyond. A historic mansion, the rooms are decorated with charming decor. We stayed in the room with a balcony and it was lovely to sit outside. The owners and staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast choices are amazing! Near to downtown, Temple Square and restaurants, it’s a great location to enjoy the wonderful old homes in the neighbourhood.
