We were very pleased with our hotel experience here. We arrived very late but everything went very smoothly. I know nothing about the Tower or its rooms since we were in the Garden area. My only problem was that it was a long walk yo our rooms but this is what we chose. The room was large and lovely. The bathroom was also nice. We even had a small balcony but since we were on the ground floor, we had no desire go use it. The lobby was comfortable, nice looking and large. Since we were waiting for an Amtrak train which would be arriving in the night, we had a while to wait after we left the room so having to wait in the lobby wasn't so bad especially since the train was delayed. We paid extra to stay until 6. The actual late check out time is 5, but they offered to allow us to stay until 6. There was a restaurant off the lobby, actually 2 but one was more of a bar. The restaurant was OK. The wait staff was very nice and friendly. The location if the hotel was ok but the free trolley runs right outside the hotel so it was easy to get to other places. If we ever return to Salt Lake City, we would definitely consider staying here again.

Hotel's Favorite
This hotel was everything I was hoping it would be. Classic style, traditional service, with a vintage feel! We stayed in room 5106 which had a great garden tub, fountains outside our window, and a nice firm bed. A separate vanity with sink was incredibly convenient! The grounds were stunning with spring flowers everywhere and the check-in was swift and easy. This hotel is the perfect location downtown (we ended up walking everywhere) I highly recommend the Cafe for breakfast or dinner, and avoid the pool area on friday/Saturday night unless you love children. Sunday we had the hot tubs and pool to ourselves but the water could have been cleaner. Background music was lovely throughout the hotel like Sinatra, Glenn Miller, Billie Holiday, etc. We will be coming back again soon!

Before booking I read through several pages of reviews on this site. I was willing to accept many of the issues I read about but the biggest issue I had was really unacceptable. As we are traveling for almost two months I have been trying to keep nightly costs down without staying in dumps. What I liked about Little America was the location and the fact that I could book the least expensive room but still have the amenities of a bigger resort. The good: Location excellent. Lobby beautiful. Pool areas very nice. Parking plentiful. The acceptable: Our older style room was actually charming. The bed was comfortable but had an odd mattress pad that was rough under the sheets. The room was well located. I appreciated that we could park in front of the room and enter through the outside. It did have a slightly musty smell but I left the door open to air it out. The AC barely kept the room cool enough but the outside temperatures were not too hot during our stay. While our room did not come with a refrigerator or microwave we were able to request one for an additional cost. The bad: Prior to check in I requested a ground floor room - I was advised this would be possible however at check in I was told no ground floors were available. The front desk is disorganized. Requests take forever to be responded to despite frequent calls. In addition it takes several attempts at calling to get someone to pick up the phone. The unacceptable: As soon as we unpacked all of our stuff I discovered the toilet did not flush appropriately. After finally reaching the front dest I was told that someone would come to fix the problem. This was after 5 PM and I was happy that there was someone there to fix it. When the maintenance person arrived it was clear that this toilet issue was not a new one. I was told it was fixed and it did flush correctly once but then the problem began again. Now it was night time and I wanted to sleep. In the morning I called again and another maintenance person arrived and also tried and stated it was fixed. Again it worked once and not again. Again I called the front desk. They did offer to move us but I was not up for packing and unpacking. Plus the area they were going to move us to while considered an upgrade had bad reviews as well. We stayed in the room. To flush the toilet I had to take off the lid and play with the flapper. What annoyed me most about this issue is this was not a new problem. Whoever had this room before must have complained. How was it that this room was assigned to us with a non working toilet? I'm quite sure that as soon as we vacated the room was again assigned to a new guest. Did the maid not notice it did not work when cleaning? Does the front desk not keep track of issues in rooms? Shame on the management staff at The Little America hotel.

I wanted so badly to give a great review. The rooms and public areas are amazing you will feel like you are in a 5 star plus hotel. But it ends there. I extended my stay by arriving a day before a tour started. The baffled the front desk staff who kept telling us we would have to switch rooms as they did not know how to merge the reservations-never in all my years of traveling have I had this problem, but after an extended conversation we worked it out so the room change was not needed, but we did have to check out and check back in. The Bellmen stood and looked as my husband and I struggled getting our luggage in the door and said they would not help getting it to the room. The hair dryer did not work in the room and even after 4 requests was not replaced. We were looking for a Walgreens or CVS and the front desk attempted to send us to a gas station. So be prepared to fend for yourself.

Awful experience twice in one week. This was booked through Amtrak vacations and all our other hotels were excellent, but Amtrak was sold a bad bill of goods here. When you get there and enter the grand lobby you are impressed until you realize that you aren't staying there without a substantial upgrade. You are sent to the ancient rooms off site that look like quarters for migrant workers and the list continues: Air conditioner units barely working, Gapps around the door that a fly can come through, no refrigerator, microwave. Truly One of the worst hotels we have stayed in; an old roadside motel would have been better or the Bates Motel. You are given the feeling that you can't afford the ' Big House' unless you can cook or clean instead of chopping cotton down below We will be contacting Amtrak with our concerns.
