Napo Wildlife Center Ecolodge garners praise for its serene atmosphere and integration with nature, offering an exclusive and remote retreat. While some travelers suggest an all-inclusive rate to simplify tipping, the lodge's location and amenities receive high marks. The attentive service delivered by passionate staff adds to the exceptional cleanliness noted by guests. Although the absence of AC and some furniture discomfort are mentioned, the comfort and spaciousness of the rooms with unique views are widely celebrated. Overall, visitors are captivated by the luxurious yet environmentally conscious experience.

If one is in bird watching we are sure the Napo Wildlife Center is known and there is little to explain.
For all others simply interested in real nature and having the dream of seeing Macaws in their habitat this is the place to go!
There are many other animals one can see like toucans, giant otters and certainly the always present caymans.
With the exuberance of nature the lodge almost becomes backstage but is a real fine place to stay, relax, rejuvenate. We enjoyed a suite (bungalow) with a jacuzzi which was filled while we were still on the way back from our excursion. Ready to indulge upon return. It was not required to request it ! It was simply and gently offered and arranged. (Many top notch places may take note and adopt this kind of service)
Most of the guest stay 3 nights which we felt would have been too short.
Staying a bit longer gives one the opportunity to repeat some excursions and take it easy. Highest respect for the effort of all people involved to create and more so maintain this place over the years. It shows no sign of deterioration of the property itself and more important the immediate surroundings.

A true and outstanding example that business sense can protect nature.

We were lucky to experience this magical place! We got off the plane and after a short ride on the bus, we got into a motorized canoe. After a 2-hour ride, we were transferred into a small canoe with a guide and a rower. Another 2-hour ride through the rainforest enjoying the monkeys jumping around us and the birds and the sounds, we arrived at the lodge, which was absolutely stunning.
Every day we went on a different adventure exploring the forest and the river and seeing different kind of monkeys, Caymans, anaconda, otters, owls, toucans, parrots, macaws and more wildlife. The lodge provided tall rubber boots for walking in the rainforest and all the water needed for the day's events.
The lodge itself is beautiful and the staff is accommodating. The bungalows have no a/c and only mosquito nets in all the windows. They also have mosquito nets around the beds. The food was delicious and had good variety. Every day as we came off the boat, we were greeted with a different refreshing juice and a cold towel.
A few words of advice. Bring long safari pants, sun hat, plenty of mosquito repellent and sunscreen. It does get hot at night, but this experience was well worth it and is we would certainly love to come here again.

We booked the four days/three nights package and this was perhaps the most special and memorable nature experience we’ve had. I can’t recommend it highly enough:

1. We were met at the airport by a Napo representative who helped us check in within a minute (same process returning from Coca to Quito). (Traffic can be busy in Quito so factor in enough time to get to the airport.)

2. The flight took 35min in a Boeing aircraft and you’re then taken to the Napo Wildlife Center. This journey covers 2h on a sort of long canoe / speed boat on the Napo River and then a transfer to a small canoe where two rowers and your guide take you to the ecolodge (2h) on a narrow tributary stream. This whole journey is part of the experience and especially the last canoe ride was amazing.

3. We were surprised by how much wildlife we saw during our daily excursions. And you get up very close with most animals. We saw a family of giant otters, three caymans, six types of monkeys, an arapaima, some large rodents, frogs, an endless number of small and large beautiful birds, including a king vulture, and even more insects (including a tarantula) - some that were massive. It was as thrilling for grownups as our 9-year old son.

4. The knowledge and maturity of the guides we had was very impressive and the whole management/arrangement was superb. You feel like you’re contributing to something bigger and very positive by spending these days (and your money) on this experience.

5. The lodges themselves are comfortable and you sleep under a net. The communal areas are large, tasteful and the tower gives you a panorama view of the lake and the canopies. There were also a lot of birds nesting or building their nests around us in the trees at the center. There is WiFi but no other electronics (TV or Phones or similar) in the rooms.

Bring strong repellent and long sleeved shirts and you will be fine. We weren’t troubled by the critters but did pick up some mosquito bites.

All visitors we spoke with at the center loved the experience and found themselves lucky given the wealth of animal sightings and encounters they had throughout the days. But you don’t know what you will see or find so each day is different.

This was a 10/10 experience.

we have stayed at several lodges all over the world, but napo deeply impressed us. first of all: the location in the middle of the rainforest is stunning. then the story: a luxury lodge owned and run by a local community. most of all: the friendliness of everyone we met, from andres, the manager, over edison, the barkeeper, to everyone involved in running the lodge. thanks to our guides, milton and fausto, we had amazing animal sightings, especially the parrot clay lick and the night walk were very impressive. we felt well taken care of from the moment we checked in at our flight in quito (with the help of someone from napo) to the moment we boarded the plane back.

This is a special place. A community that has created a way for its members to preserve their land and provide jobs for its people. The journey from Coca on river boats then canoes gives you a glimpse into the culture in Yasuni National Park. The lodge and the guest huts are unique, the food is amazing, the the guides provide you with a look into the Amazon Forest. The beautiful sights and sounds of nature. Birds, butterflies, caymans, otters, monkeys all filled the days with something new and exciting to explore. It is heart warming to see what these hard working people have been able to accomplish by working together to support each other and safe their land and their culture. It was an amazing place to visit and experience.

Napo Wildlife Center is a wonderful place. Not only was it an opportunity to experience pristine rainforest, but was an exhilarating adventure as well - 4 hours by canoes just to reach it. Napo is the culmination of a dream of the local community to become self-sustaining and to protect their home. They have done an amazing job and it is obvious that they not only love the forest that is their home, they want to share it with others so that they too can love it. Absolutely everyone we came into contact with was gracious, helpful and worked extremely hard to ensure we had an amazing experience. Being acclimated to high, dry and cool climate, my husband and I struggled with the heat and humidity. Every time we returned from an excursion, we were greeted with a restorative cool drink and ice-cold wet cloth. The consistantly delicious food was a wonder considering absolutely everything is paddled up the creek in canoes. This is another indication of the dedication of the community members running the lodge as they voted down the use of electric motors in order to keep things natural. This is a bucket list type of adventure that should not be missed!

We has planned to visit Napo Wildlife Center from Friday April the 16th, through Monday the 19th, 2021; amid COVID restrictions, with our negative PCR tests in hand.

Special fare as per their advertisement on Instagram is $546 per person.

Unfortunately the car we were driving towards the town of Coca to get into the boat had a mechanical problem. We immediately call the hotel. The answer was simple: we could either pay $600 for another boat ride or lose our entire, prepaid booking. $600 boat ride for a $1100 prepaid weekend... really ?

No other option was given to us.
No option to reschedule at an other date, not even with a penalty.
NO OPTIONS.
Very poor customer service (especially given the fact we were already stressed because of the car problems), obviously no money refund.

After that, I rather spend my money in a place were tourists are actually welcomed.

Dear Mathieu, we really feel about your situation, we completely recall your case. When you called us, you mentioned to us your car was broken before leaving Quito, however we had already hired an entire logistic for your arrival, if you didn’t make it we had to pay it anyway. The cost we mentioned covers a new boat ride, because as we plan our trips to have this cost be split between a group of visitors, a private canoe means entire cost for you. We have Terms and Conditions for our programs, which were passed on to the persons who paid for your trip, it would have been great if they would have shared with you about them, when they gave you a complementary gift to our Community. We do suggest to arrive one day earlier to avoid this cases if you come by land. We opened other options to you, for an extra payment, as we had to pay already for the first operation. Unfortunately you just wanted a free of charge one. Refund didn’t apply in this case, as stated in Terms and Conditions.

We were fortunate to spend 3 nights at Napo Ecolodge and enjoyed every minute. It was such a professional operation and kudos to village elders for their ecological vision. We were greeted by a representative at Quito airport with boarding passes and guides were waiting when we arrived at Coco airport, transferred quickly to speed boat dock to start adventure down Napo River. After about 2 hours and bagged lunch, we were transferred to comfortable canoes and sat back to enjoy second leg of journey to lodge. Special note to thank Daniel for his tireless paddling and Arcenio for his hawk eye and paddling. We were blessed with our guide Juan who exceeded our expectations in every way with his knowledge, pleasant personality and thoughtfulness. We really enjoyed getting to know dining staff member Christian who went above and beyond with every contact. Food was good and plentiful with lots of choice. We had the spacious and lovely honeymoon suite with outdoor hot tub which was enjoyed each afternoon as long as the water was tepid to cool us off. Daily activities kept us busy from sunrise to sunset. Highlights included salt clay licks, tour of Women's Centre Village and numerous spotting of wildlife with help from our guides. This lodge stay was an experience of a lifetime.

We arrived to Quito on a Sunday and Monday morning we were already on the plane to Coca (half an hour flight). To arrive to our lodge, we had to first take a motorboat for two and a half hours on the Napo River and then a rowing boat for one hour to the lodge (thank G'd, we didn't have to row by ourselves).
The lodge itself is on the shores of a beautiful lake (where you are not allowed to swim because of the caimans!). Everyone got his cabin, which was quite big and comfortable. The food was exquisite for all our companion. As we eat "kosher", our food was dispatched from Quito and heated every day by the very friendly staff.
BTW, this lodge is managed by the local community, which we had the opportunity to visit.
Our guides were very informative and showed us all the animals in the equatorial forest whose presence we didn't suspect. The staff was also very helpful with ponchos (because it didn't rain, it poured!!!), boots (because of the mud on the trails.)
In short, an interesting, unusual and enjoyable adventure for my wife and me.

We are travelers and try to find eco friendly places. Napo was perfect as it is not only that BUT it is owned and run by the local people-excellent way to see the Amazon. Our 'cabin'/HUGE room was gorgeous! Big and comfortable bed for my husbnad and me with oerfect views of the lake while grown daughter had an entire private space in the back with a comfortable twin bed. We shared a very large, nice bathroom with a lovely shower that always had hot water, and a nice sitting area with a table for our books and drinks. The ceiling fan added air movement to the cool evening air and we had NO mosquitos at all. Our front porch had a lovely large cocoon type hammock which we took turns rleaxing in in between fantastic canoe trips into the jungle where we sometimes got out and walked beneath the forest canopy or we stayed in the canoe and saw, some up close, fantastic birds and animals seen ONLY in the part of the world (such as a family of Giant River Otters, an Arapima, Caiman, Squirrely Monkeys, just to name a few!). Our guide, Delfin, is beyond fantastic and his enthusiasm to share knowledge of the area is wonderful!. His 'right hand man' in the back of the canoe, Mariano, was very helpful and very strong so with his help too, we got to see a LOT of the area as we covered more water with their paddling. The meals prepared by Chef Jorge were as delicious as they looked on our plates as fantastic Edison served us. The entire complex is a delightful mix of joined or separate 'cabins'/bungalows? with paved paths and low lighting. Climbing to the very top of the main structure is a must with a magnificent view as is going on an outing to climb the canopy tower! We hope to return and thank the team at Napo for an excellent time!
