We arrived here from another hotel on the west side of Maui and we were instantly struck with how much more of a Hawaiian feeling this hotel had. The check in area is a grand, open air area. The resort itself is huge. We stayed in the main building, which made most things a short walk away. We had one ocean view room and one “garden” view. Both had nice size balconies. The rooms themselves were upgraded and clean, although slightly musty smelling. The grounds of the hotel are beautiful. One of the nicest parts of the property is the beach path they have. It stretches in both directions down to 2 beaches. So while the hotel is beachfront, you do have to walk a good 10-15 min to get to those beaches. We were told there was chair and umbrella service at one of the beaches but whenever we went down, there was no one there to give us chairs. Due to that, and unusually windy conditions, we spent a lot of time at one of the pools. We are not usually pool people, preferring beaches, but this pool was lovely, overlooking the ocean. The chairs were large and comfy and there were tons of umbrellas- although the staff was constantly running around to put the umbrellas up and down with the wind. The service at the pool was exceptional and the food was very good. We ordered room service multiple times which was very inconsistent. One day it was delicious and the next day my sons pancakes were raw. Overall this is a solid choice in wailea.

Aloha 703deenap, Mahalo for taking the time to evaluate your stay at Wailea Beach Resort. Our goal is to have each guest leave inspired and enriched; therefore, we are glad to know you loved our elevated resort, including our beautifully designed landscaping and inviting common areas. It is also gratifying to read you were pleased with our rejuvenating accommodations having balconies and with our prime location. Steps away from beautiful beaches, shopping, dining, and entertainment, we enjoy providing our guests with the perfect place to explore Wailea! Moreover, we are happy you had an excellent experience at our pool and were able to take advantage of our exemplary poolside service and the delectable food served there. Having said that, we regret not meeting your expectations with our room service and that you find it irregular during your visit. We will follow up on your comments appropriately to ensure a better outcome going forward. We appreciate your feedback and hope to be your first choice whenever your travels bring you back to Maui. In the Spirit of Service, Eric Duff Resident Manager

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying at this beautiful resort March 14-21 to celebrate my upcoming 60th birthday. It was our first time to Maui together and we had done extensive research on where to stay in Maui (Kaanapali vs. Wailea) and what resort to stay at in both of these areas. After much deliberation, we landed on the Wailea Beach Resort and we are so glad we did. Everything exceeded expectations – from the room, to the staff, the food, the views, the amenities, etc. – it was simply divine!! Tip: after driving up to Lahaina & Kaanapali later in our stay, we found the location too far from most of the sights so we’re glad we stayed in Wailea. Much better vibe and location. About me quickly: I’m in the Customer Experience (CX) industry and admittedly, have high standards. I’m Bonvoy Titanium Lifetime Elite and have been fortunate enough to have stayed in Marriott properties around the world. This was a splurge vacation – it’s not everyday that my husband and I stay at a resort where the nightly rate is over $1000 so we were expecting a lot and were not disappointed. Hopefully, this long review will provide fellow travelers with insights and information to help in selecting where to stay when visiting Maui and why this is the hotel you want to stay at. We used points plus dollars to book an Ocean View King room. Before arrival, we were upgraded to an Oceanfront King Balcony room. Pre-arrival communications were excellent, with lots of outreach from the hotel on dining, excursions, and other options. Here some highlights, the pluses and minuses (not many) from our stay, and some “shout outs” to the amazing staff. Check-In: After traveling more than 13 hours from Raleigh, we were greeted with a complimentary juice, leis, and lots of smiles from the front-desk staff. For over a month before our trip, I had been dealing with the hotel’s Exec Asst. to the GM (Kiyo Miller) and she went out of her way to greet us upon our arrival and answer all our questions. Check-in was a breeze. We loved the use of wristbands as room keys. Very cool! Also loved the Pathwater refillable metal water bottles provided to all guests. Kiyo brought us to our room and all seemed fine. However, within 30 minutes of being in our room (Hale 2, room 2316 – great view of west Maui and the ocean) and having unpacked ½ our belongings, we realized that the A/C wasn’t working. Argh!! An Engineer quickly came to our room and diagnosed that a repair was needed involving glue (with fumes) and we couldn’t stay in our room. A rough start to our vacation! However, the Front Desk Manager, Connor Jarvis, stepped in and saved the day. Even though the resort was sold out, Connor was able to get us an upgraded room to one of the sundeck rooms in Hale 7 (room 7134). While there was nothing wrong with our original room (in fact, it was great), our new room was simply fantastic! The sundeck rooms facing the ocean are amazing. Fast forward to later in our stay when Lenny (very friendly gal from room service) told us that we had one of the best rooms in the resort. Thanks for hooking us up, Connor!!! As for the room itself, the bed was EXTREMELY comfortable! A/C worked great, feather pillows (a must for me) were super comfortable – all contributing to a great sleep. Some reviews mention that the rooms are dated. I didn’t think this was the case. They’re not “out of this world” but we found them spacious enough with simple but elegant décor – we had no complaints. Nice touches were the mini fridge (plenty of room for waters and snacks), Nespresso machine (re-stocked with pods daily), toiletries, robes, and daily housekeeping. Now onto the food … Breakfast: had we not stayed in Hale 7, we probably would have never checked out the Whale’s Tale. This ended up being one of the highlights of our trip. I had originally thought that it was bogus that Titanium members do not get a complimentary full-service hot breakfast. Trust me folks – you don’t need to eat all that stuff and sit in a restaurant when you’re at the Wailea Beach Resort. Let it go – you are not going to get a free full-service breakfast at this resort even though you have status. In my opinion, the Whale’s Tale is the best-kept secret about the resort and THE best spot on the walking path between all the resorts. Tip: if you have status, work with the hotel to get a complimentary upgrade to the hot option at Starbucks/Whale’s Tale. We enjoyed one of the best-ever hot breakfast panini sandwiches almost daily, along with coffee, a small pastry/banana bread, and a fruit cup. Sitting outside in the morning at Whale’s Tale, wearing shorts/tank top/t-shirt or bathing suit & a cover-up, chilling over breakfast and enjoying the view was what it’s all about. We didn’t go to Starbucks once. Jean, Elizabeth, and the rest of the team at Whale’s Tale remembered our names, our breakfast order, and provided exceptional customer service to us daily. What a great group of people! Oh, and the smoothies and fresh pressed juices are great too. Lunch: if we were at the resort during lunch time, we were typically poolside. The menu is limited but all the choices are great. We always shared lunch – burger & fries or the fish sandwich were our favorites. The Maui Brewing Company beers were just what the doctor ordered to wash it all down. Dinner: we ate at Humble Market Kitchin our first night after traveling all day. The service was slow but our server George was friendly and attentive. The food was OK but nothing outstanding. Surprisingly, we found the food under-seasoned (we NEVER want more salt in a restaurant so that was a big surprise). The ambiance indoors is a bit more “chic” than the plastic chairs outside. Ask for a table near the window (with a view). It’s a solid choice on your first night but I wouldn’t recommend repeat visits. We did room service one night and enjoyed sitting out on our sundeck listening to the ocean and not worrying about driving anywhere or getting dressed up. The menu was limited and we stuck to apps – all solid choices. Tip: the room service menu is almost identical to the menu at Kapa Bar & Grill. On another night, we kept it low-key and had dinner at Whale’s Tale (open until 7pm) and had a Hawaiian style BBQ pork flatbread pizza (yum!!) and some of the local wine (surprisingly, pretty good) while watching the sunset. No need to wear any fancy clothes – a super chill vibe! Great service from Ellison and Kevin too! We picked a night to do this while the Luau was taking place – we could easily see most of the performance so that was a real added bonus! Moving on to the pools … We booked in advance (for $100 – but it’s gone up since then to $150) a private daybed at the Maluhia infinity pool. We had great service from Andy (check-in and towels) and Dana who brought us food & drinks. You get a $50 food & beverage (F&B) credit which helps offset the costs but my advice is to skip this. The beds don’t have any kind of canopy or “curtains” to block the sun and after a few hours, we couldn’t handle the direct sun on our faces & bodies – it was just too hot. Glad we did it because we met Andy but other than that, I wouldn’t recommend it. On another day, we tried to get a chaise chairs at the infinity pool but like other reviews mention, it’s a battle to reserve chairs. If you can find chairs under an umbrella, this is the way to go vs. booking a daybed. The pool temperature was great and we loved that it was adults only. On another day, we also had a chance to experience a private cabana at the Ohi Pool (family pool). These cabanas are pricey to book – $650 for the day. Ouch! We were lucky to have this comped. Unlike the day beds, the cabanas have curtains to block the sun. However, this is another paid-for “extra” that we didn’t feel would be worth the money to book unless you really love being in the sun and heat all day. The service from John Dela Cruz (from Kapa) was stellar. Very personable, attentive, and took great care of us! I mention him later on in this review. Now for the “experiences” (tip: check these out on the hotel website well in advance of your arrival and book at least one) … My husband surprised me with a private oceanfront dinner. This was one of the top highlights of our vacation. Diane Camacho, a F&B manager, coordinated the menu, wine choices, etc. with my husband. She was on-hand to greet us for our dinner and ensure everything was perfect. Together with John, our server, this was a night to remember. We went with Menu 2 (Taste of Wailea) but worked with another F&B manager to make a few substitutions. I’ll try not to blather on and on about this experience but it’s hard not to. Yes, it’s pricey but we thought it was well worth it. Tip: don’t book the floating cabana dinner – the cabana is basically “in” the pool and people can still be swimming it in while you’re trying to have a romantic dinner. The other experience we did (thanks to Andy from the Beach Activities team for encouraging us to book this) was kayaking and snorkeling with the turtles. We had been thinking about booking a 3rd party snorkeling trip to Molokini but was worried about safety, getting seasick, etc. We’re so glad we stayed on-property and experienced this adventure. Aaron at the Beach Activities desk (right beside Whale’s Tale) is great! He’s extremely personable and friendly – I loved watching him interact with the kids. We had a great time snorkeling with our guide Jean. While we didn’t see a lot of fish, we did see a couple of turtles, sea urchins, and coral. Highly recommend this activity! Wrapping up this long review … A long walking path stretches out front of the resort. This is a great place to go for morning walks (after a great breakfast at Whale’s Tale) or near sunset, when it’s cooled down. On our walks, we got to see many other resorts and upon, seeing their pools and overall “setup,” we felt we had made the right choice of where to stay. Take time to chill under the large banyan tree in front of Hale 7 and watch the sunset. You will feel as those you’re in paradise on earth. It’s a surreal and serene experience. Our experience at the Wailea Beach Resort was a perfect “10” – we are already saving up and planning for our return visit! Thank you again to Kiyo Miller, Connor Jarvis, Diane Camacho, John Dela Cruz, and Jean (Whale’s Tale), and the entire resort staff for making this a vacation to remember! The aloha spirit is alive and well with everyone at this resort. Mahalo!

This was a great resort for families. With the lawn with abundant lounge seating, pool with splashpad and slides, quieter infinity pool, and even more private one for adults only the property was wonderful. It is large, and requires some walking depending on where your room is located, but amenities are great. The restaurant is good, and usage of an app for room service is nice. The gameroom is an amazing addition if you want to take a breather with the kids in an air conditioned safe space, and they have a starbucks on site. Walking across the street to the shopping center is easy and the beaches are just a few minutes down a path on either side of the property...which is also one of the items preventing me from giving a full 5 stars. There is some walk to the beach, and the beach isn't the most friendly for the youngest children so make sure to keep an eye on the kids in the afternoons when the waves get stronger! Staff was friendly and attentive and everyone had good vibes. Would definitely return.

Overall a great resort for families with young kids. The resort has multiple pools and the kids pool is definitely a fun place for kids of all ages. There are two beaches on either sides of the resort and it’s a bit of a walk to get to. But it’s a good place for kids to snorkel with calmer waves and tons of fishes nearby. It’s very easy to spot turtles around here. Besides the pool and beach, there are lots of kid friendly activities at the resort itself. This resort is conveniently located next to the shops at Wailea. It is a few minutes walk from the hotel, making it easy to walk over with kids.

In September of 2021 my husband and I went to the Wailea Beach Resort for our honeymoon. We had such a wonderful experience that on a whim this winter we decided to book a trip for September of 2022. Our stay ended last evening and we are already missing Maui and this beautiful resort so much! Maui itself is so magical and we feel so lucky to have experienced this beautiful island. The resort itself is set on pristine grounds between Ulua Beach and Wailea Beach. If you walk beyond either of those two beaches you are met with more gorgeous beaches, palm trees, flowers, rocks, and everything else that makes Maui so wonderful. Given how large the resort is depending on where your room is you may have a little walk to each of the beaches - but the walk is so enjoyable and shouldn’t at all be viewed as a drawback. Just make sure that if you want beach chairs on Wailea beach you get there early, by 8am. Due to the other resorts in the area space on the beach for the Marriott’s umbrellas and chairs is limited. However, if you don’t get the beach chairs at the start of the day, you have several amazing pools to choose from - two infinity pools, a pool with two water slides, a mini dive pool behind the pool with water slides, and another family pool by the restaurant Kapa. Additionally, the resort has many food options - Kapa (which we love given the location, food selection, and quick service), Starbucks, Humble Market Kitchin, the Whales Tail, and the Mo Betta Food Truck. Although we don’t have children we also observed the many activities available for kids. Certainly a resort that’s both couples friendly and family friendly! Aside from all that the resort has to offer, we wanted to highlight how above and beyond the hotel staff went yet again. Upon check-in, Angela (one of the resident managers) had left us champagne and dessert congratulating us on our first year of marriage and welcoming us back. Angela even left us a voicemail remaining us that she would be a point of contact should anything come up. By chance, we did run into an unplanned medical emergency and as a result we requested to extend our stay on short notice. Angela directed us to her colleague Kevin who helped us navigate through the situation, and also went incredibly above and beyond to make sure we were able to stay for an extra day without disruption. We were beyond thankful and impressed with how helpful both Angela and Kevin were. We really hope this feedback makes its way to the top so that they are fully recognized! Additionally, we had the sweetest, kindest woman as the assigned housekeeper for our room. Josie was fantastic and made us feel so welcome. She was a joy to speak with during our stay. Never at any other hotels have we experienced such kind, warm and welcoming personnel. As for any constructive feedback, we would encourage just a few minor tweaks: the water stations located around the hotel to encourage sustainability are a great concept but the water was often room temperature vs. being cold. Thankfully some of the pools had iced water stations, however, it was sometimes challenging to find that easily. We also noticed that the rooms themselves are a bit dated and not the most pristine due to the wear and tear. We understand though that it’s to be expected given how busy the resort is year round. If there is opportunity in the future to renovate blocks of rooms at a time we would certainly encourage that. These two pieces of feedback are so minor, though, and should not discourage anyone from coming. We hope to be back in the future. Our hearts are already missing Maui and it hasn’t even been 24 hours! Thank you for such a wonderful stay!

We come to this resort every year; this is our 3rd year in a row. We usually book two rooms to accommodate the family. Our family had a great stay at the Marriott Wailea Beach Resort, although he had some bittersweet experiences this year. I talked to Connor (manager) a week before arriving, as he has been hosting us in the past with a positive attitude. He upgraded us to a better room with Ocean View (they were not available for some reason when I booked the trip nine months in advance). He stayed on top of things for the most part, except for our last day. I was expecting more for this price point (over $1000/night). The Good: - the hotel is quite large and has many activities. I was happy to see some improvements from last year (e.g., game room), although it should be expanded with the many people attending this year. - the staff in the pools is great, always trying to provide a great experience. The pools are pretty good; the slides are the best. Some pools felt dirty after noon (sand, napkins, and even food floating around). - Wailea location is the best, in my opinion, the best beach on the island (if you want to relax and enjoy warm waters). - Great Starbucks and Mall nearby. You can find anything you need, and the prices are according to what you expect in Maui. - Our Room was outstanding this time, but it's a hit and miss. Some rooms are crappy sometimes. The Bad: - This might not be the right hotel for beach lovers; frankly, I will have to think about this next year. The beach access is a 10-15m walk. The staff on the beach does not belong to the hotel, and on some occasions, we had to wait for 45m to get an umbrella set up. The hotel has only 15 umbrellas, which is not enough to satisfy the hotel's demand. When we complained, they said we should be happy as they were doing us a favor. Other hotels have more capacity and on-site staff with much better support. When there is a slight wind, they pick up all the stuff (around 1 PM) and then leave the beach. - Housekeeping, also outsourced, was mediocre at best. They lost my retainers that I left in one towel. There was no follow-up from the hotel in this regard. - During the last day, I asked for a complimentary late checkout (we usually get this benefit given my status and returning customers). However, this year was the exception. Connor was not reachable during my stay's last three days, and the front desk lady ignored my request. After some debate (like 30m), she gave me one extra hour, which was not helpful, given that we lost our room access during that process (for almost one hour). My daughter was unwell, and we had an awkward moment until we regained access one hour later; we had to pack everything in a rush losing almost two hours of precious beach time. - One of the beds was not comfortable and made some noises (like spring was lost or something like that). I didn't even bother to report it.

Aloha Julian M, Aloha, and mahalo for being a valued Marriott Bonvoy Silver Elite member and for returning our survey about your experience at Wailea Beach Resort. We understand the importance of the details that make up a great stay, and I sincerely apologize for the inconveniences you have experienced during this stay. I am glad to hear that Connor was able to assist you on a few of your requests prior to your stay, and I apologize that he was not available on your last day to ensure a smooth check-out experience. Additionally, I extend my gratitude for your feedback regarding your positive experiences and the areas of opportunity, especially your experience with our beach amenities, where we certainly fell short of offering you an enjoyable experience. I certainly understand your disappointment and the frustration you must have felt. This does not reflect our style of customer service, and I have followed up accordingly to improve our performance in these areas and will further review the details with the appropriate individuals. That said, I am glad you enjoyed most other aspects of your stay and recognized the service provided by some of our associates. I have also noted your concerns regarding the condition of our beds, and I will personally be inspecting your room to understand the deficiencies that you brought to our attention as we continually work to improve our accommodations. I have contacted our lost and found, and we have not attained your retainer. We hope that you will visit us again, and we will do our best to provide you with a better stay. Mahalo, for your valuable feedback; we wish you safe travels. In the Spirit of Service, Eric Duff Resident Manager

Just finished off a 5 night stay at the Wailea Beach Resort in Maui. There are so many staff members I want to give a shout out to and will do so via email to the GM but Zelie at the front desk went above and beyond in providing top notch hospitality and service. Some details on the property: - Early arrival or late flight- there is an arrivals/ departure lounge equipped with lockers and showers that you can use. - New pool being added coming Winter 2022. - Hale 5 or 7 is where you want to be with kids! - Beach chairs are said to start at 8am but they start setting up at 730am. If you arrive by 7:45am, you can still get front row beach. 8am puts you in the second row and 8:30am has you on the waitlist. - Car rental: Enterprise on-site. We reserved a car for 1 day with the assistance of Zelie prior to our stay. We skipped the weekly car rental this time and it worked out well. It was our third time in Maui and had planned to park ourselves at the resort and surrounding area. - Food: The coconut mochi pancakes at the Humble Market Kitchin was a daily favorite! - Concierge desk left a lot to be desired. Many upscale resorts and hotels have opted to contract out their concierge desk. The concierge staff is not really interested in helping you unless they’re earning a commission on an excursion that they recommend which is unfortunate. - Overall, a great stay! A huge mahalo to the staff! — at the Wailea Beach Resort - Marriott, Maui.

Amazing property! The adults only infinity pool was very good as were the family infinity pool and kids adventure pool. Having a Starbucks on the property was awesome as it made our breakfasts affordable. The hotel is very close to two beaches and to the shops at Wailea. One has to go very early to reserve beach chairs or pool side loungers. The rooms and housekeeping is very good, concierge staff is efficient. Restaurants are overpriced but there are very good restaurants in nearby Kihei which is a short uber ride or bus ride away. This hotel is well located midway on the island which makes it near to the airport as well as for tours to Hana or Haleakala. It has an Enterprise car rental on site so that one can rent a car for the day. Overall pricey, but very well maintained and well managed.

The hotel is nice, but, IMO, the value does not match the room rate. To add credibility to this review, my wife and I are both lifetime titanium elites. We traveled around the world several times. We have stayed in all ranges of hotels, from the Burj Al Arab in Dubai (see my review) to hostels in Peru and India. As for this hotel in Maui, we used points, but my jaw hit the floor when I saw the room rate (>$800). And the resort fee is a hoax. $45 plus almost $5 in resort fee taxes. That’s right. They tax the resort fee. I asked the front desk what I got for my $50. She hesitated and said in-room wifi. I said I am titanium elite. I get that with my status. I again asked her what I received with the resort fee, and she could not tell me. I asked if it could cover my parking. Nope! As for the hotel, the staff were excellent. Easy check-in and checkout. It’s a beautiful property. And we were able to get lounge chairs by the pool. But when you consider the price plus the resort fee. It just left me shaking my head. The advice I am giving myself starts with, “remember, this is Maui.” There are hundreds of hotels and Airbnb’s that offer the same amenities but at a substantially lower rate. And no resort fee. Lastly, for full transparency, if I were independently wealthy with money to burn, I would definitely stay at this hotel again and not complain about the resort fee! It’s a nice hotel.

Aloha jknight910, Mahalo for being a valued Marriott Bonvoy Titanium Elite member and for evaluating your stay at Wailea Beach Resort. We are glad to read your kind remarks about our elegant resort and devoted associates. Having said that, we regret your disappointment with our resort fees. Resorts are distinct in the specifics of the benefits that we extend to our guests, and we believe we have meaningful and unique ways of doing so. Here at our Hawaii retreat, we have a broad spectrum of ways to honor and show Aloha to our most valued members. Being the resort that is closest to the water, we have a stunning array of room upgrades and locations, as well as the flexibility to exceed all of your expectations in this idyllic setting. The information about our fees is posted on our website, and we will share your comments appropriately. We appreciate your feedback and would welcome another opportunity to host you and your wife again in the future. In the Spirit of Service, Eric Duff Resident Manager
