My husband and I have stayed here several times and our favourite stay was for our honeymoon. This is by far the best hotel on the island for romance, relaxation, restoration, incredible sunsets and bailouts food and cocktails. It is a short shuttle to the beach and you will be surrounded by a tranquil and luscious ambience throughout the property. Highly recommend!! Simply the best!! On my most recent trip to the island last week, I enjoyed dinner with friends in the hotel bar, the Birdcage, several times. The view of the sunset from here is unbeatable and everything on the menu is delicious. We will be back next year!
So fortunate to have been able to experience this world class hotel on beautiful Maui. The staff was exceptional, the views breathtaking, the food delicious, the cocktails exquisite! We loved the luxury shuttle available at a moments notice to pop us down to the beach, shopping and restaurants, but were always happy to escape the business of the beachfront and return back to the exclusive, cool vibes of hotel Wailea. Chic decor, a great music vibe and the most stunning sunsets - there is no better hotel in Hawaii for a couples escape, a girls trip or an adult family vacation. We are already planning our return. Thank you to all of the incredible staff who made us feel truly special!
Great drinks , beautiful spot , my wife and I went there from four seasons because we heard Corwin was the new bar manager there. He’s awesome , had appetizers and tremendous drinks. Go !! Dinner is great as well at the Restaurant, make a night out of it , do not miss the Birdcage
When we pulled up with the car, we were guided inside to check in. We paid through Amex platinum, so we were eligible for an upgrade , which they said there wasn't one available. Once we checked in, we unloaded our stuff to the curb, no help in sight, then waited for 15 mins for someone to appear to help us get our bags to the villa. Villa was nice but barely had an ocean view like the website describes. Room was clean, the snacks they have for you they don't replenish. There were tons of sugar ants everywhere which I understand we are in a special climate and you can't have a total bug free environment. Breakfast was slooooow. They are extremely short staffed which made breakfast to be a long event in the morning. I waited longer than expected just for a coffee each day. Only on the 3rd day did we actually get a spoon with our coffee. The food was not a 5 star standard. Not once was my coffee topped up, I had to find someone each time and ask to have more coffee. Food wasn't amazing, I ordered something different each day and wasn't impressed. Eggs were always made hard even when asked for over medium. Lots of strange syrups and sour jams were applied to the pancakes which made everything soggy and off tasting. People state they were ok with being away from the beach but I disagree. I've stayed at the Fairmont and the Four Seasons, it is much nicer to be at the beach. I thought because of so many people reviewing they were ok with a ride to the beach I would be too, but it's a lot nicer to walk a few steps to the beach rather then flag down a ride each time. We ate one evening at the Restaurant and it was ok. It didn't blow me away like other reviews stated. For 400 dollars for two of us I would have expected gourmet and it wasn't there for us. Pros are the hotel has a beautiful property, nice spacious clean rooms. Cons are the distance from the beach, view isn't what I'd hoped for, short staffed, food sub par. I would probably opt for the Fairmont or Four Seasons for our next stay. My experience wasn't what I hoped for.…
We just returned from a week at Hotel Wailea and there are SO many wonderful things to say about this property. We have stayed at other (much larger) hotels in Wailea for a number of years. We loved the boutique feel of this property and the adults only policy. Generally, nothing is too crowded - including getting chairs at the pool anytime of day. The gym is well outfitted and not crowded. We were originally on the 1st floor and asked to move to a 2nd floor room (only 2 floors in each building). The hotel was very responsive and moved us the next day. I would request a 2nd floor room for our next stay. Plenty of room and a great kitchenette - they are like mini apartments. As a side note: The beds and pillows IMO are the most comfortable of any hotel ever. My Husband concurs! The valet staff is amazing! They will take you to restaurants, beach or to run an errand anywhere in the immediate area - all upon request. If it's a dinner, you just call when ready to be picked up and they'll head down to you immediately. We didn't rent a car - just took Uber for longer car trips. The food within the entire property is excellent. The Restaurant for breakfast and dinner, to the bar (Birdcage) to the pool area. You will not have a bad meal. Our many thanks to Derrin, Leah, Lynn at the restaurant and James the talented and fun pool bartender! There are many more names I neglect to mention that I do not know but EVERYONE was helpful, responsive and pleasant. We'll return for sure. …
Incredible room, food, drinks, and service! Impeccable hotel in every way. The treehouse private dinner was the best culinary experience we’ve ever had! Chef Krista and Christopher blew us away with a culinary and wine feast. Loved the live music in the birdcage area. Perfect location and easy car service to beach and area restaurants and shopping.
From the moment we arrived we were treated with such warmth. The valet welcomed us with leis and throughout the stay the valet team gave us great recommendations. The valet team was always available and the driver even waited while we made a quick run to store before the beach. Checking in with Natalia was a breeze, she showed us where to find the pool and the breath taking gym. Side note I wasn't planning on exercising during the trip but the view was so amazing from the open air gym I absolutely had to. We were getting married so the team sent us up a bottle of champagne when we arrived and it was a perfect start to our time in Maui. Our first breakfast at the restaurant was great (best pancakes ever!) and James even showed us how their coffee machine did cool designs which we geeked out about. I can not empasize how much Leah and her team (Aric, Dana, Natalia) made our stay at Hotel Wailea what we will cherish for many years to come. Leah was able to make a last minute request of a wedding bouquet and groom lei happen, I couldn't believe it! That touch made our photography so much better and couldn't be any more thankful. Later on in our stay we had robes with our initials put in, seriously that was magical and a sweet momento we could take home. Melinda and the entire housekeeping team were very kind and professional. Even the groundskeepers always greated us when walking around that tropical paradise. We had our wedding dinner at The Restaurant and chef knocked it out of the park. His presentation and preparations were so amazing. Chef Ryan showed sincere hospitality and was a hoot to chat with. My husband even asked for seconds on the sashimi dish, it was so good! And they even made us a small wedding cake. The hospitality and service from the restaurant team was above and beyond. (Shout out to Griffin! His wine pairings we're great! On a later night he also let a neighbor restaurant know we were coming which made our experience there very personal) Darrin's passion and presence all throughout the hotel made for a wonderful experience. Mr. McManus and Mr. Schale have built something amazing. We cannot express enough gratitude, our honeymoon at Hotel Wailea is what we will cherish for the rest of our lives. We will always come back 100%.…
Very nice property. Good service. Expected more out of a Relais château property. I’ve been to many others and this is not one of them. Very good food at the restaurant. Frustrating though it is only three course selections …also saw children at the restaurant. Excellent ride service to other properties and the beach. Great bartenders. Much better than the other resorts in Maui. Not as crowded so you won’t feel like it’s Disney World for Hawaii
I meant to write this in October but life got in the way. Stay dates Sept 27-Oct 1, 2022. My adult son has lived in Hawaii for decades. He left Oahu for Maui 2 years ago so my husband and I go there twice a year to spend time together. We had just come from a wonderful week on Oahu (Halekulani). We arrived at Hotel Wailea and the bell team and front desk could not have been more helpful, welcoming and fun. The first night was a little disappointing because the spectacular lounge was full and quite understaffed. I watched the manager bus tables. We went to our room and decided not to make a judgment about the Resort given that everyone is short staffed and they did the best they could. It took over an hour to get a latte at the Montage during our May trip so we had to take that into consideration. All resorts are feeling the pain of the last two years. The rest of our stay was perfect. Although the staffing issues were real, the people worked as hard as they possibly could to create the best guest experience. There was a film crew around for a few days (project for the resort) and they were entertaining yet professional and tried to capture the shots they needed with as little guest disruption as possible. The layout of the hotel is simple once you figure it out and the acres of flora and fauna were spectacular. There is such a meditative, peaceful, blissful energy about the place. As a parent and grandparent, I love kids but also loved the fact that there weren’t any children permitted… that’s when I realized how much noise even one child makes at the pool. The adult only rule sealed the deal for us in us making this our happy place in paradise. The team at the pool and bar were awesome, available and made delicious drinks. I noticed one of the servers limping and asked if she was okay. She had a foot injury but didn’t want to let her team down so was there working just as hard as everyone else. That’s a loyalty you don’t buy. We typically stay at Four Seasons properties but decided to switch it up since Hotel Wailea had shown up at the top of a new list of best hotels and we decided to try it out. Glad we did. Large hotels are close by and we went to dinner several evenings at other properties. Each time happy to return to our perfect “retreat”. On our last day, Chris Mitsumura, the Director of Operations, stopped us as we were leaving to ask about our stay. He was genuinely Interested in our feedback and could not have been more engaging. I hope he is still there in the fall because we will definitely be going back. Debbie & Walter (and Jonathan)…
Absolutely beautiful. The best ambience and service ever. Proximity to the beach (no wave sounds at night, although we could see the ocean) and the beach itself (a quick shuttle ride away) were the only negatives. But everything else was so over the top wonderful I couldn’t give Hotel Wailea less than 5 stars. Added bonus - it’s built into a hillside so we walked off at least one cocktail a day between our room and the pool bar.
