We had a wedding nearby so we stayed in the Aparthotel with our dog. He was sick and Florencio helped us out. He was very kind, understanding and empathetic to our situation. The owner really cares about his business and his customers. We want to thank him. If you are looking for a nice place to stay with great customer service, this is the place. Thank you!

Hotel Las Atalayas is situated in open countryside about 2km outside Zafra. It's a good-looking complex of buildings with an attractive restaurant, a very inviting swimming pool, and a huge car park. It's the latter that gives the game away; off-season at least, this is not a hotel that caters to the casual visitor. It exists primarily as a venue for large, formal, functions. The downside of this is that when the hotel isn't booked for a big function it more or less closes down. So if, like us, you decide to use the hotel for a night stop on your way north from Southern Spain in late September, you may find that you're the only guests and that the restaurant is shut. Our room was fairly well-equipped, particularly bearing in mind the hotel's 3-star rating, but slightly shabby with many of the fixtures & fittings (especially in the bathroom) badly in need of some maintenance. The beds were (very!) firm but just comfortable enough for us to sleep reasonably well and the shower worked fine next morning. Breakfast consisted of one cup of coffee and one toasted roll each, for which we were charged 6 euros. The meal was served in a cafeteria area which boasted a television and a radio, both of which were switched on in our honour. Be warned that none of the staff speaks any English, so you'll need at least some Spanish to get by. We can't say what it would be like to stay here during the peak holiday season, when presumably the hotel is fully functional, but we suggest it is best avoided at other times.

This must rank as one of the best places I have ever stayed - and I have stayed in a lot of places. So clean, so spacious, charming hosts, lovely breakfast, enchanting accommodation, quiet, peaceful, fabulous grounds and pool - and they like dogs. We stayed in a one bedroomed bungalow for 3 nights. there was a separate sitting room and open plan kitchen, a very nice bathroom and a very pretty double bedroom. The furnishings are typically Spanish and there is a dining suite in the open plan sitting room. There is a fridge/freezer, hob and all you need to self cater in the kitchen there is also monogrammed crockery which is beautiful. The sitting room has a flat screen TV and there is air conditioning throughout, although we didn't use this as there lovely breezes blowing across the acres of land. Las Atalayas is not expensive either. We had breakfast in the lovely cafeteria and nothing was too much trouble for the staff and hosts. The free wi-fi is excellent too. Very friendly but professional. The pool is huge and surrounded by well tended gardens, very nice indeed. Zafra itself is a lovely little Spanish town and well worth a few days visit. We will be back.

We have just spent a couple off days here with our grandchildren on route from UK to home in Portugal. What a great place there were only the four off us in the pool the first afternoon and 4 more peole the next day. I cannot reccomend this place enough its really off the beaten track very safe for children and the the apartment we had was so big. one minor complaint not enough kitchen utensils but hey thats minor dont let it put you off.

The hotel has a main building with bedrooms and a number of apartments. we stayed in the main building. The room was very simple, but everything worked and it was spotlessly clean. being a mile or so out of town, the complex had a large area of land around it, a paradise for our dog (and also for the friendly Labrador of the house). Unfortunately the (attractive looking) restaurant was closed. Being a public holiday, so were many other places and all the supermarkets. We rustled up a meal from a local service station (jamon, cheese, jar of asparagus etc.) and Pepe from the hotel laid out a table for us in the cafeteria. Breakfast was fairly basic-toast and tomato with some rolls and cakes, but just fine. This is not a luxury spot but It was very good value, and we felt we'd had a bit of an adventure. but check out if the restaurant is open (or be prepared to drive into town).Alternatively the apartments looked pretty OK.
