Cleaners were friendly, but you need to leave your dirty towels on the floor for them to give you clean ones and as a room clean they did not clean the floor once while we were there, they just come in give you clean towels do the bed and that's it.
As for the room we had flushing of the toilet not working properly sometimes I had to throw a bucket of water for it to go down, we had water coming out from the shower tiles that we had to call for maintenance to put some silicone to stop it from having a swimming pool in our bathroom, the aircon switch on the wall was half pulled out from the wall, and tv channels all we had was in Chinese and gharab language apart 1 channel which was the bbc news 24hrs in English I felt like I was in bali in some point, I realise that they need to focus on the tourist prospective but for European people those languages are useless.
In the room all you get is a kettle and 2 mugs no coffee or tea, no fridge I had to pay extra 56 euros to get a fridge in the room and the fridge was so old and so tiny that every night the motor was so loud.
The only changes they did was removing the indoor pool and put small pool on the roof, when on every website it still says there is indoor pool in the hotel, it was not a pleasant experience and I will definitely not be going back, I realise it's a 3 star but they definitely need a lot of work to keep up with the generation, I've been to backpacking hostel and 3 star motels before and every one of them had fridge included in the room without paying extra for it and mini bar and coffee complimentary.
All the staff were superb. Friendly, helpful and welcoming. I didn't catch many names, but Njelli??Nellie?? on reception, Clayton night reception, were great. Housekeeping were also polite and very friendly.
The room, on the second floor, was quite large and comfortable. The furniture (wardrobes, drawers, bedside cabinets and fridge all looked brand new. The bed was two fairly basic metal frames with relatively poor mattresses, which had very stiff edges so there was no chance of a spread across the two singles to treat as a double bed.
The bathroom was again a good size and was clean with what looked like fairly new tiling. The only downside of the bathroom was the ridiculous shower cubicle with doors that don't roll on the runners but must be almost picked up and put into place when showering.
The roof terrace again looks as though it has been recently renovated and was a really surprising treat. Wonderfully clean and tidy. Plenty of loungers and a pool that is big enough to have a cooling dip when the sun gets a little hot. A TV plays tranquil music and WC/changing facilities were a nice touch. I would guess there is enough space for a small bar or a pool table up there if the owners were so inclined. I watched the Saturday of the Malta airshow display with a great view over St. Pauls bay. Such a shame that the Sunday was canceled due to the high winds.
The location can not be beaten. So many bars and restaurants are within a few minutes (in some cases seconds) walk. Less than a hundred yards to the promenade beach and swimming.
All in all I wouldn't hesitate to recommend, on the understanding that The Primera is not perfect but I believe they are working to get there.
I for one will be back.
Many thanks

The location of this hotel is 5/5 it is quite literally centre to everything you possibly need: food, drinks, cafes, restaurants, the beach(2 min walk), shops, food shops, souvenirs, plenty of bus stops too if you did want to travel out.
The breakfast was lovely a nice start to the day and worth every penny.
Our overall experience was all we could ever of hoped for, the only thing I will say is on trip advisor the pictures don’t really represent an up to-date version of the hotel as it has been refurbished. However the photos are somewhat up to date on love holidays where we booked this hotel through.

The pool and its sunbeds and umbrella s were great. It was near the beach and about 20 minutes to the bus depot to head into Valletta.
There are plenty of bars and night life just outside the hotel and plenty of close by tourist shops to buy presents.
There is also a bank and cash card under 100 metres from the entrance to the hotel, which is handy.
Swimming at the beach is also easy to get to as there's a path.
Air conditioning was fabulous.
In all I will be returning to Malta and will stay at the same hotel,as the staff were all so helpful.
I found malta to be very safe as I was a solo traveller and the people were all really friendly.
