AX ODYCY Hotel enjoys a strategic location favored by guests for its scenic views and convenient access to local attractions and public transport. Its cleanliness is a point of pride, with the rooms and facilities consistently acknowledged for their immaculate condition. While opinions on value vary, the hotel's amenities, especially the rooftop infinity pools, are highly praised.
The commendable service enhances the modern and inviting atmosphere. However, guests have noted issues with noise and room soundproofing, which could detract from the otherwise positive experience.

Excellent hotel, great location, very close to bus stops and bus station, we bought a 7 day explorer bus pass for €25 each which lets you go anywhere on malta or gozo, bus stop just across the road. but only a 10 minute walk to bus station Room was cleaned every day, change of towels when requested. great view of the sea and front, we asked for a higher floor so floor 5 was very quiet no noise at night. Staff were very helpful and polite, always had time for a “hello, how are you?” we only had b&b but this was exceptional very good choice of food both hot and cold, two restaurants to choose from so plenty of seats and didn’t feel too busy at any time for breakfast. lots of fresh fruit, bread, cold meats, cheese, pastries plus hot freshly cooked food (to order if required.)
Good location for plenty of outside restaurants if you are b&b, find tourist street a 5 minute walk and there is plenty of choice of different nationalities. lovely coffee shop at the hotel, and the connecting restaurants had good food although we only went to the cheeky monkey twice, didn’t go to the italian over the road. lots of choice of places to sunbathe, lots of sun beds never had trouble finding a bed. Beach towels provided for free. Adult only pool on the 11th floor was lovely and peaceful. would recommend this hotel without doubt.

We arrived very late (after midnight) and were kindly received at the reception, given the necessary explanation and the luggage was brought up by the friendly staff. The breakfast was good and varied, available in the buffet restaurant Deck & Keel, also available on the ground floor when busy. The room was beautifully made up every day by the room "boys" Vikas and Malcom and were always friendly when you saw them in the hallway. We tried the buffet dinner a few times, a varied and wide choice of options from starter to dessert for a fixed price (if you don't have all-in) with drinks included, hats off to the staff at the entrance who tries to convince the guests. a good way to guide them to their table, but this is not easy if difficult customers are not happy with their choice, but they still manage to keep calm. A very good coffee corner "Espresso", certainly not expensive for a hotel (and tasty pastries). To explore the area and the island, public transport is very easy to use (you can plan your route via the app), we had a bus card valid for 7 days and could use most buses (not valid on the fast (X ) buses) for €21 (otherwise €2 per trip) We visited a large part of the island. A nice place on a beautiful island.

Enjoyed a great holiday very recently at this wonderful hotel. It’s modern, very clean, well run & the staff are so helpful & friendly particularly in the Side Street bar & the Espresso bar which is open 24 hours - we used to visit this bar in the afternoon for coffee & one of the delicious cakes/pastries they provided - on numerous occasions we were served by Manif Mansur , he was so polite, helpful & friendly always with a welcoming greeting/ smile. The bedrooms are spacious with a balcony, safe & fridge, very comfortable beds too. Lots of choice in the dining room mainly food with added flavours - my husband would have been happier if there had been some plainer food but he managed. All in all we would definitely recommend this hotel in a perfect location too - we used the local buses but found it best to go to the bus terminus to get on the bus so that we could get a seat.

This could be a 5 star hotel but is ran by 3 star staff. Start with the good points, we upgraded our room to a full sea view just after arriving so we was in 2 rooms and both were very clean, basically faultless (one of the plugs didn’t work but plenty of others) we did report but was never sorted. Good air con free safe, clean towels every day, beach towels included, coffee machine plenty of room. We were all inclusive which gave us premium drinks and a very good selection of cocktails etc although each bar did different cocktails. The food in the buffet restaurant was amazing, a massive selection of food, which was great, never had a bad meal, the hotel also has 4 other restaurants on site/over the road, as part of the all inclusive you get 3 meals vouchers for 3 of the 4 restaurants? You book them at customer relations, the 4th restaurant is pay only, it just doesn’t make sense, it’s the same staff. The big let down for the hotel is you get 2 small bottles of water in your room when you arrive and that’s it, no replacements (you get coffee pods for the machine in your room) no bottle water is included in the whole of the hotel, no water stations, water is given by the glass, bottles are sold at €2.20 each for small bottles, but you get premium drinks, sandwiches amazing cakes, a coffee shop included but NO water it’s crazy!!! You can have €7-8 euro cocktails but not 50 cents bottles of water. The other massive problem with the hotel is on a evening there is only one bar open and the service is unbelievable terrible, 20 plus minutes to get a drink ordered (table service only) and then 20-30-40 minutes to get your drink, lots of staff just rushing around like headless chickens but nothing getting done, the hotel is full of new staff who don’t speak English they all just say Yes and nod and leave. The hotel location was great for us, just far enough away from all the noise 20 min walk, but just can’t recommend this hotel to anyone, when you pay good money for your holiday a minimum is free water, i would be happy with water stations, and the bar on the night is just beyond terrible. But Malta the country is amazing, beautiful and friendly, we downloaded the bolt app (Uber) and used this to get around as max €20 euro from one side of the island to the other, we booked a few tours boat trips etc and over to Gozo and Kemmuna well worth doing Malta 5* Hotel 3* could be easily improved

Absolutely disastrous! I was considering leaving after the first night.
It was my birthday when we checked in, and I made it known to the staff. They could also verify it from my ID card, which displayed my date of birth, indicating our celebratory occasion. We waited in the lobby for 15 minutes before the check-in process commenced. During check-in, I inquired about the amenities in our assigned room, specifically asking about the presence of a bath. The response I received was to go into the room and check for myself.
Upon entering the room, it became apparent that it did not meet our expectations. Not only did it lack a bath, but it also offered only a partial sea view, contrary to our booking for a full sea view room. Additionally, it was a joined room configuration, which was not what we had anticipated. Waited for 6 mins. on the telephone line. Upon raising these concerns with the reception, we were initially informed that the room was allocated based on our reservation for four people, despite our booking being for two and specifically requesting and paid for a full sea view. Despite showing evidence of our reservation for a full sea view room for two people, the staff attempted to justify the situation by offering a larger room as a substitute for the view and bath. It became evident that our concerns were not being addressed adequately, and it was clear that they were not fully comprehending our issues, leading to a frustrating start to our stay.
Throughout the night, the room became uncomfortably hot, even with the AC turned off. We resorted to leaving the balcony door open for ventilation, sacrificing privacy due to the close proximity of neighboring balconies. The following day, we attempted to address the issue with the AC, but our efforts were met with significant delays and minimal assistance from maintenance. Despite spending considerable time waiting for assistance, the proposed solution was ineffective, leaving us without relief from the sweltering conditions. Consequently, we opted to avoid the overcrowded and overheated indoor pool and instead sought refuge near the beach.
The only positive aspect of our experience was the breakfast, which offered smoked salmon and sparkling wine, a pleasant departure from the traditional English breakfast.
Unfortunately, despite our anticipation and the hotel's recent renovation, the level of service fell far short of our expectations. The language barrier and lack of basic etiquette among the staff were particularly concerning, raising doubts about the hotel's claim of providing four-star service.
Regrettably, despite the significant expense of our stay, we were left feeling disappointed and disillusioned.
Image below shows evidence of us waiting for 10 minutes on the hotel telephone line to be picked. The photo shows of 9 mins but I was picked up 1 min. after.

The location of this hotel is very good, making sightseeing very easy as there is a bus stop opposite the hotel. The hotel itself is well maintained to a high standard of cleanliness. All the staff are polite and helpful and smile all the time. The housekeeping staff are good apart from not always leaving enough towels. The bedroom is quite spacious, however storage is minimal with open shelves and open hanging rail, so your possessions are always on display. There is only one English channel which is BBC World News. You are only provided with two small bottles of water on arrival which are not replenished and there is nowhere in the hotel to refill them. Water is only available by the glass.
The Espresso cafe is open 24 hours, so there are always hot drinks, sandwiches, salads and cakes available. There are two buffet restaurants, the downstairs Keel restaurant is much calmer and quieter than the upstairs Deck restaurant. In the restaurants the "hot" food was always cold which made it unappetising. The breakfast cereals were of poor quality as was the cheese which was served in messy chunks or gouged out with a spoon. At breakfast the Keel restaurant seemed to have a lack of staff to clear the tables and fill up the hot drinks area. There was always something missing, mugs, teabags, spoon, milk etc. Sunday lunch at the Deck restaurant was absolute chaos due to areas of the dining room blocked off to allow large numbers of local people to attend for lunch. There is no evening dress code in this hotel so it is strange to see people dressed up for the evening next to others in shorts and tank tops. We went once to the Cheeky Monkey Gastropub and the Trattoria Riccardo restaurant during our holiday. These are both owned by the hotel and the food in both was of excellent quality and served very hot.
During the evening there were screaming children running around the bar area chasing balls and balloons as if they were in a school playground. This is quite dangerous especially while you are carrying drinks.
There is absolutely nowhere in this hotel to just sit, relax and read in peace. This is a very noisy hotel, where the music begins in the morning and continues until the early hours. There is very loud music blasting out everywhere, in reception, cafe, dining room, the rooftop pool, the sidestreet bar and even the toilets! Sometimes you can stand just outside the Deck restaurant and hear 3 different types of music playing at the same time. There is minimal evening entertainment, usually just one person singing or playing the violin, keyboard or saxophone. When the speakers were turned up to maximum, which was most of the time, it was so loud that you could not hold a conversation. I asked our fellow travellers if the loud music bothered them, they replied "no we just turn our hearing aids off."

Just returned home from a week all inclusive holiday and feel like we stayed in a different hotel to some other reviewers.
Positives: hotel is very clean & the housekeepers do an amazing job & are always friendly. The hotel is well situated for using local buses to get around the island with the bus stop just over the road. Good choice of food in the Deck & Keel restaurant.
Negatives: hotel feels more like a business hotel & doesn't have that 'holiday' feel. It's a noisy hotel - loud music can be heard at night both from inside the hotel (possibly the club on floor 10) & also from the bar across the road. The area itself is also busy & the traffic noise is loud so not relaxing to sit on the balcony. Side sea view rooms face the other block of the hotel so you are basically looking straight into other rooms. There are no allergens listed on any food in the restaurants so you have to ask a member of staff to tell you which dishes you can eat. Not always easy to get hold of someone when it's busy. If you do request something that's allergen free they ask where you're sitting & then try and find you which isn't always easy with it being a large restaurant and there aren't any table numbers. All inclusive beer is limited to Skol or Carlsberg & according to my husband neither was a good pint. No bottled beer is included. You get 2 small bottles of water in fridge but this is not replenished - have never had this on all inclusive before! Gluten free offering in the coffee bar is limited to a chick pea salad - more effort needed here as this is the hotels 24 hour food offering.
Tips: download the Bolt app before you go if you want to use taxis. If you want to book any tours turn right out the hotel & you'll find 2 tour operators a short distance along.

Lovely Hotel. Very clean and modern All staff were friendly and welcoming. Food was the best we have had at a buffet style restaurant. Well cooked and presented. Good choice every night. There was also free wine and beer at dinner. It is worth knowing however that unless you have all inclusive you will need to pay to use the other restaurants. This was advertised as a supplement could be expected which was not the case. We used the lower ground pool as the roof terrace was windy Towels are supplied and pools were both lovely. Now negatives. No wardrobe and very little hanging space in the room, land view rooms overlook residential buildings and the fact you have yo pay for use of restaurants. Also the location is a bit strange. A walk to pubs which are in back streets and spread out and selling cans not beer on tap. Hotel bar and pubs close at 11 pm. Overall worth a visit.

We spent 2 weeks at the AX ODCY as part of a small tour group. The Hotel is newly renovated, bright, fresh and the rooms are kept spotlessly clean by the very friendly cleaners. It is situated right across from the Promenade which is great for walking and also a nearby bus stop. Buses are easy to use, 2.50 Euros per person, driver will make change or you can tap your credit card. I would not recommend renting a car in Malta as the traffic is horrendous and lack of parking. We had a room on the 8th floor with a sea view and small balcony, which is very private from your neighbours on either side but not across. You can sleep with the balcony door open but that shuts off the A/C. Due to the shape of the hotel, some rooms are always in the shade and some get lovely morning sun. The more expensive rooms on the upper floors have been decorated in extremely dark colours...black walls and floors and dark wood throughout so if you are on the shady side of the hotel it is somewhat like living in a luxury cave. Huge shower in bathroom but 1 sink. Pools on the roof are beautiful , but not heated in March. Large heated pool in basement usually full of children. Although not usually a fan of buffets, the food at the Deck and the Keel restaurants was excellent....lots of variety and some theme nights. The coffee however from the self serve machines is very bad. Get your coffee from the Cafe in the lobby. You will need to buy drinking water and I'd recommend The Vineyard, which sells water, alcohol and snacks...turn left from hotel entrance and it is on the next block. My Complaint: It seems that the rooms are not designed for long stays as there is almost no storage space for clothing. There is only 1 small drawer in the room and a short rack for hanging clothes . You will be living out of your suitcase.

The AX Odycy is a truly magnificent hotel in all respects.
We stayed 24-31/12/2024 in a double comfort room, on floor 6, which had a beautiful full sea view. The bed was a very comfy XXL Super King (if such exists). Big negative is the absence of a wardrobe. There is hanging space/luggage space and a couple of shelves, which are always on view, and only 1 knicker draw....shame because the room was lovely. Safe included..FOC.
WC had twin sinks and a double walk-in shower, including lotions, soaps, daily fresh towels and loo roll.
TV stations are crap....and couldnt program our stick to work...DOH!
Best AI food and drink ever, and venues were very welcoming and clean. The non-AI Cheeky Monkey over the road was very good. Lovely indoor pool. Roof top bar was lovely to catch a few rays. You actually can get to the other side of the road without leaving the hotel.....you don't realise you walking beneath the road, when checking out floor -1 facilities.
Staff was very helpful and professional.
Qawra, as a location isn't great...about 40 mins to Valletta by bus service, which works really well (bus stops outside hotel)....minor inconvenience. In fact, if you're not staying in Valletta, then it doesn't matter which resort you chose, and opt for the best hotel outside of Valletta....the AX Odycy.
Recommend doing the Rolling Geeks 3 Cities Tour...you get to drive your own buggy around the 3 cities..fully guided. Rabat and Mdina well worth checking out too.
