Db San Antonio Resort & Spa is often commended for its excellent service, with guests appreciating the warm and efficient staff. Its prime location is celebrated for easy access to local attractions, although opinions on value vary, with some questioning the cost relative to their experiences. While the rooms are typically described as spacious and clean, noise from renovations and nearby activities can be a downside. The atmosphere is a mixed bag, with entertainment sometimes seen as a hit or miss. Amenities like the pool and dining options are generally well-received, but crowding can be an issue. The resort's overall cleanliness receives high marks from visitors.

I cannot speak highly enough of the experience we had. This was the first time we have been on holiday abroad as a family and by gosh what a fantastic hotel, we booked all inclusive so we didn't have to worry about eating out, it was the best choice we made. We arrived early evening to be greeted by knowledgeable and friendly reception staff, we were provided with our wrist bands, directions, key cards and even a voucher for the aquarium. We went for dinner and we were completely spolit for choice, hot dishes, cold dishes, pasta, meats, salads, desserts, donuts, bread, and drinks. Orange juice, beer, wine, fizzy drinks. Breakfast and Lunch were also exceptional, The pain au chocolates were my favorite, all was beautifully displayed. The chefs must have worked so hard to produce such outstanding quality and presentation at every meal opportunity. I felt bad to even leave an ounce of food to waste seeing the cost, effort and time put into feeding guests. We were never hungry there was always something to have and the kids station was perfect, sausages, chicken nuggets, pasta, There was also a great selection of snacks served between lunch and dinner perfect if you had missed a meal. The timings of each meal times was also great. Every member of staff that we encountered treated us with respect. The whole hotel was immaculate I never saw one piece of rubbish the floors were sparkling, staff work tirelessly to provide such outstanding service. We had our room cleaned and everything was refreshed. I saw the housekeepers spending a good hour cleaning rooms. The staff poolside never stopped finding things to keep busy, we managed to get a sun lounger for us everyday, whilst we were relaxing the staff were moving sun loungers or serving drinks a great selection of choices including cocktails or collecting empty glasses every member of staff works so hard and are so polite. The luggage room is so convenient we used this as we didn't leave till late afternoon but we were able to use the facilities after checkout up until the time we left. The towel hiring system is an awesome idea. We didn't take beach towels and we could pay a refundable 10 euros deposit to be given a card from reception to take to the pool bar where you were given a towel, you could hand in your towel and get the card back and then get another clean towel the next day we did this till the end of our stay and then had our refund processed. There was childrens entertainment and the dirty dancing show was fantastic. Great location for exploring the bus station is 3 minute walk, supermarket across the road if you needed anything yet the hotel provides everything. The beds were so comfy the pillows were soft and the balcony had a lovely sea view. Thank you all

As soon as we arrived, they put the inclusive bracelets on us, so we immediately benefited from all the services.
Very large hotel, 10 floors, infinity pool on the roof, access only for adults, a bar and a restaurant where reservations must be made. Superb view, peace and relaxation.
There is also a large main pool for all ages and another in the shape of a ship with a small slide for small children. Pool bar and a restaurant with snacks between meals.
The main restaurant is very large, enough tables, very good and diverse food and impeccable cleanliness everywhere.
Animation during the day, there is also a football field, sand volleyball and spevtacoles every evening, an extraordinary team of entertainers and dancers, don't miss them...
The hotel is located near the sea, it is separated only from the main street, there is a beach in front of the hotel equipped with artificial sand, actually some small pebbles, a pontoon, the entrance to the sea is not smooth.
On the beach there is also a bar and sunbeds, umbrellas, but they are paid even if you have all inclusive.
The staff is quite nice and kind, eager to help you.
The rooms are very large, the same bathroom, hairdryer, shampoo and shower gel, clean, linen and towels are changed daily, it is ideal to book with a view of the sea, it is gorgeous, otherwise you will have a view either of the street or of the hotel next door . There is a European plug in the room, the rest is like in the UK, so you need an adapter.
It is worth taking a cruise on the island of Comino, Gozo, visiting Valetta, Popey Village, Malta Aquarium.

Good points
I’ve been in this hotel for nearly 3 weeks, the room is clean and the cleaners attend every day with no issues, nice balcony with pool and sea view, you don’t get the sun, though on the balcony, I’m a vegetarian and the food in the restaurant is very good, they always have three or four vegetarian vegan dishes on offer. Breakfast is the usual eggs, yogurt, fruit pastries, I haven’t really had much but all inclusive drinks are okay not branded, as is entertainment always seems to be something on. The gym is excellent as is the sauna steam room and swimming pool indoors ,I would recommend booking if you can get it for the right price .

Not do good points
Roof top bar/ adults only area is not open even though it’s advertised when you are booking,
Sundays are a bit of a free-for-all as they do catering for hundreds of locals , the dining area is a bit of a bun fight.
I tried to book March for the month, but they want to charge €2380, basically if you are a single traveler, they want you to pay for a couple and more, this is not a €2380 hotel, January cost me half of that and I can still book a holiday in the UK for less than that including flights

We have visited this hotel in 2011 and 2016 when my in laws had a time share here so after not being abroad for a few years we thought we’d revisit here as we’d always been happy here.
Our first impressions at check in were as always a warm welcome and pleasant staff willing to help.
Upon entering our rooms (3 twin rooms) only 1 was of 4* standard. One was as expected of decent size, clean and not a bad state of repair apart from shower drain and shower rubber mat that had so much mould on we put it under the sink and left it there.
The other 2 rooms had shower doors missing and instead shower curtains that were 6” too short meaning water flowed on the floor when in use as well as being so cramped you could sit in the toilet and wash your feet in the shower at the same time. Sealant was mouldy and lights in bedrooms didn’t work or were hanging from ceilings with tape attached to secure.
The food was of a less quality than previous visits and as they now allowed locals that were not stopping at the hotel to book tables to this meant queueing for tables and waiting for food.
Entertainment was laughable but we didn’t go for that. The pool although we were on a sunny day had no heating to take the edge off meaning most people weren’t using it. (I’d have expected a heat boost in November when the sun wasn’t out as long to heat it)
In the corridors tiles were falling off the walls round the perimeter. Hazard tape had been put on door entrances where raised steps had broken or worn away.
The final straw was our last day when what seemed like a hundred teenagers descended on the hotel. Security we had never seen all week appeared in the dinning room at dinner where they watched them drop food and push in queues upsetting several people especially elderly guests. Then at 9.30 several were seen heading pool side with bottles of vodka and beer to later at 11pm be running screaming along the floors outside peoples rooms where security were sent to deal with the problems.
It seems, as Ive heard, it has been taken over by another company, they are only interested in the money. If you’re going to let non guests use the place then make the facilities bigger.
As others have said the luggage room was left open we constantly watched who was going in as it was unmonitored.
Unfortunately we won’t be back which is a shame.

Dear Rachael, Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback regarding your recent stay with us. I’m truly sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations, especially as a returning guest who has enjoyed staying with us in the past. While it’s heartening to know that our team welcomed you warmly at check-in, I regret to hear about the challenges you faced with the room conditions. The concerns you mentioned regarding the shower facilities, cleanliness, and maintenance of the rooms are certainly not reflective of the standards we aim to provide. I also appreciate your comments about the dining experience. We understand the importance of ensuring a pleasant and efficient service for all guests and will share your remarks with our team to review and improve our processes. With regard to the pool, I’d like to clarify that our outdoor pools are not heated, as they are designed for seasonal use. It is up to guests whether they wish to use them during this time of year. However, we do offer a heated indoor pool for guests who prefer a warmer swimming option. Regarding the disruption caused by the group of teenagers, I understand how frustrating this must have been. Your feedback will help us enhance how we manage such situations to ensure a relaxing and enjoyable environment for all guests. The concerns raised about the luggage room have been noted, and we will take appropriate measures to reinforce our procedures and ensure guest peace of mind. Your feedback is invaluable, and we appreciate your candor. Please be assured that your comments will be carefully reviewed by our management team to address these matters and make the necessary improvements. Thank you again for taking the time to share your experience. Kind regards, Hadil Chaibderraine - Guest Relations Officer | db San Antonio Hotel + Spa

This was our first trip to malta and we loved it. We stayed here in july as a anniversary treat and we got a great deal.

The rooms were big and airy, we did have an issue with the shower on first day with it flooding the room but was fixed quickly. The rooms have a hairdryer, kettle with tea coffee. Our room was over looking the street outside and we was on floor 7. Rooms are cleaned everyday with clean towels given.

They have water stations to fill jugs with water rather than plastic bottles which i thought was good. You pay a €10 each deposit for pool towels which you get back at end.

Food was good, lots of choice but we did eat out a lot too. Beware the drinks they make them strong lol im not a big drinker so i usually find one i like and stick to it but the drinks were quite good as all inclusives go. Thry have a little coffee shop where you cam have coffee milkshakes, smoothies etc which was lovely too

Thry have a adults only pool and bar on roof top which was lovely and welcome.

We didnt watch any entertainment as went out every night so cant comment.

Only downside to this hotel was the lifts. You get a card that you scan and it tells you which lift to get in. Sometimes you would get in the one it said and it would go to a completely different floor up and down lol but added to the fun when a little tipsy

All in all this was a fantastic hotel for a great price and would return if the price was right again. Loved malta

I would like to start with the reception staff , they were polite and very efficient, Shaira looked after us and a few minor issues with had during our wonderful stay at this hotel.
The hotel is spotless from top to bottom, and everyone greets you with a warm welcome, we booked a family room with a pool view, and the room was well appointed apart from the lack of hanging space ,so I lived out of a suitcase not a problem I just asked at reception for a iron and ironing board which they provided. The restaurants were varied with all sorts of tasty food on offer , the activity team had so much energy it made me feel tired just looking at them .
One thing I didn't like was the cold water station's throughout the hotel , the water as a strong taste which we didn't like so we bought table water just outside of the hotel about 50 yards up to the right, 2lts for just over a euro .
There is a good sports bar opposite the hotel where you can get branded drinks spirits for 3 euros, including tonics .
If the tour operators at home offered half board like some European agents, I would try that ,with the price of food and drink being so reasonable all over Malta .
There is a bus terminal 150 yards up to the right of the hotel, we bought a 4 day go anywhere ticket for 21 euros each , well worth the money ,they go all over the island from there and what ever bus you take you don't worry about what stop to get off on the way back, they return back to the terminal so handy . To recap lovely hotel and staff ,well situated can't wait to return back ,very happy guests

It’s great to know that our hotel impressed you with its cleanliness and friendliness. I’m sorry to hear about the hanging space issue in your room and the taste of the water at the cold water stations – your feedback is very important and we will look into this. We thought everything was really good we could not fault the hotel it was always clean and well laid out.
The staff were all, (well most of the staff were really friendly people although the bar staff were sometimes a bit rude), really lovely people and really welcoming and the reception staff could not have been more helpful.
The main restaurant was the main problem it is huge and too many people attended at the same time and should have implemented a staggering system.
The tables were positioned too close to one another so a meal could never be taken in comfort. The self service area was worse than feeding time at a zoo with people acting as if they were collecting their last meal. Different nationalities have different values when it comes to queuing and being polite and so many people in the hotel are just so rude.
We ate out on a number occasions to avoid this situation.
The three al-a-carte restaurants were ok with the Tangine being the pick of the bunch the Sarborosa being the worst.
We attended the Sarborosa to celebrate our wedding anniversary and came away very disappointed and hungry. Children were running around with no parental supervision and just generally being rude and noisy.we would never use this restaurant again.
The entertainment was ok and there was something for everyone but when the host had to tell people to clap it gets a bit silly and in my opinion is stupid.
The pool area was always clean and sun beds were plentiful although we didn’t get much sunbathing weather.
Ideal location for exploring buses are cheap I would recommend down loading the app which helps in getting around Uber also works well and is cheap.

Had a lovely family break here. All staff very friendly and helpful. Large hotel but was not over busy. The room was spacious with tea/coffee and a jug provided to fill with water from the dispenser on each floor. Large bathroom with walk in shower, basic toiletries are provided. Safe provided but no iron, there is an ironing room on level 4 but you need to obtain a key from reception. The main restaurant had plenty of choice but it did become repetitive. We tried Tagine and Sabrosa, both very nice and we enjoyed the food. Cafe maroc was also nice to het a drink in the afternoon. The Kosy bar was advertised as being open but not on the afternoons we were there, we were directed to the pool bar but didn't really want a plastic beaker! Pool area is nice, very clean. A luggage room is available if you arrive before check in or have a later flight. The local bus station and sea front are minutes walk away and the stop for the Hop on bus is less than 5 mins walk. Overall a lovely hotel and would stay here again.

I'm very disappointed with my vacation. Old hotel with moldy smell everywhere else on the ceiling of my reception is large mold spots as well as in bcp of common areas. The room was acceptable, however street side, impossible to leave the balcony door open, too much noise. Most of the staff were very friendly, My drinks acceptable. Namely that an ice cream on stick is extra, 5€ I have never seen such Awards, not even in Monaco. The buffet is average, but acceptable, except for fruits that are not eatable, not walls most of the time or so rotten. No drinks in the minibus and after a meal I wanted to put a glass of Coke in my room, the supervisor at the entrance of the buffet room forbade me. Weird as all inclusive...
The pools are really nice for children though I haven't seen a lifeguard, I don't know the laws in Malta, maybe it's not mandatory there. The streets around the Pension are covered in rubbish and the smell in the streets goes with it. The nearest beach is a rocky beach with a pti piece of gravel, it is really not suitable for children. You still have to get to the beach by crossing a very dangerous road considering the driving in Malta.
We had a fire alarm at 5:00 in the night. The evaluation was very poorly managed, well not managed at all people wandered to find out what is happening or find the way out. Person to help or check if people leave the rooms. I've never seen such a mess. Luckily there was no fire because I think there would have been drama.

Worse hotel I have ever stayed in. On arrival to hotel asked where we could get something to eat, told there was no where until the main restaurant opened at dinner time, had been travelling since 1am with a 4 and 1 year old and no snacks/food avaliable, room also wasn't ready. When restaurant opened, food was awful, poor selection of food, overcrowded, there was teams of players there who completely took over, pushed in queues. No bottles of water around the pool water fountain with warm water.
When we got in the room it is very basic, air con terrible reported to reception who said theybwould get engineer, engineer came said the air con was working fine, complained again as it definitely wasn't working they offered to change room, when we look in the other room just as hot in there, so stayed in original room, we were told they turn the air con off at certain times in the day my 1 year old spent ever night covered in sweat because it was so hot.
Kids club was filthy - first time I took the kids in staff sat colouring in pictures there was one child in there. Toys were dirty and old. My 4 year old did like it down there and wanted to stay so we let him, when I went to collect him, he was in the 9+ area playing computer games on his own. Didn't need to sign children out of kids clubs felt like anyone could have taken a child.
Hotel has a children pool, but if you have a pram you won't be able to go up there with it as the lift was broken the whole time we were there. Had to carry baby and pram up a spiral staircase. Very cramped around the kids pool.
The hotel has vending machine and a freezer with ice cream by the bar these have to be bought and are not included in the all inclusive.
Overall hotel very outdated, carpets in hall dirty. Definitely not a 4 star hotel.
