I absolutely recommend this property for a number of factors. The location is perfect because you avoid the most chaotic part of the island but you are still in a small village with many bars and free beaches. In addition, a few meters from the hotel is the bus station from where you can reach all areas of Malta by public transport. The amazing breakfast with all kinds of dishes both sweet and savory. The friendly staff, I did not find a single member of staff who was not smiling and welcoming. Upon arrival they gave the children candy and cookies to entertain them while waiting for the room to be ready and there is the possibility of having towels for the three pools and you can use them until 7 pm. Large and spacious room, present professional hairdryer and iron with ironing board. Tips for improvement: the pool area with the bar in the water unfortunately creates so much confusion and dirt because you are forced to swim surrounded by cocktail glasses and uncivilized people who throw into the water even straws. The area should be guarded more to avoid it becoming impossible to swim among people with cocktails in hand. The second suggestion concerns bathrooms in the indoor pool, the dressing room should be equipped with a hairdryer and improved cleaning in that area. For the rest nothing to object, if I return to Malta I would definitely choose it!

We are a family of two adults and two children aged 7 and 9 and we have just completed a 10 day stay at Double Tree Hilton in Malta. We specifically booked this hotel as it had rooms which included separate bedrooms so that our children could be in a different bedroom to us although secure within one hotel room. When we arrived we were initially put in a room which was not the set up we were hoping for, but as soon as we told the staff, they immediately (without any fuss) arranged for us to move to another room which was perfect for our requirements. There was plenty of space, a beautiful sea view and balcony which was super useful for drying our swimwear. This is a big hotel, so it is plain to see how busy the staff are, but every single employee we came across, from front of house, pool attendant, catering and cleaners, was friendly, greeted us with a smile and some even stopped to chat. The hotel has an excellent location, right opposite a beach where you can enjoy an invigorating swim in the sea and there are plenty of fish to see if you snorkel (there is a lifeguard). Please note that this is not a sandy beach - we travelled to Melihia for this. The hotel is also a 5 minute walk from the bus station, and we found the public buses an excellent way to see the country and very good value too. We stayed here on an all inclusive package and found the food to be very high quality: there is a huge range to choose from at the buffet, including varied and interesting healthy salads and vegan options, and the desserts are carefully crafted and beautifully presented. We were also able to enjoy a service restaurant experience at the Ombre Café, which overlooked the pool and at which we watched wonderful sunsets. The staff here were particularly lovely. The hotel has two outdoor pools and one indoor pool, as well as a small gym and we used all three regularly. Twice a week during the summer, there is a children's disco and pool party running until 10pm, which our kids absolutely loved. We would definitely recommend a family stay here and would love to return on our next holiday in Malta.

Stayed for 10 days over the half term, 2 60+ adults and 2 children 11 & 12. We had a family suite, 1 twin room with en suite bathroom and 1 king bed room with en suite bathroom, suite was lovely and we managed to get a TV in twin room. Rooms were cleaned to a high standard daily but we always had to request more tea and milk... 2 tea bags and 2 milk left daily for a family of 4, didn't understand the logic in that. No water left in room that hadn't be hot from restaurant. Room was on the ground floor with a nice size patio with a small table and 4 chairs.
On the whole the food was good but after 10 days it got a little bit repetitive and I really missed fresh vegetables.
Pools were clean as were the surrounding areas but my god were they cold, the inside pool was far to heavily chlorinated and upset the children's Asthma.
One massive downside... the customer service at the bars and the Ombre restaurant is truely atrocious, food served cold at Ombre, on both Mondays food was stale, and the staff saunter about with not a care in the world, meals did not come out together, and when we asked for our meals to be brought together it resulted in food being left on the pass and cold.
In the bar in the evening we gave up trying to get served at the table, drinks were very inconsistent and hit and miss. If they sorted out the service issues this would be a fab hotel. Due to customer service issues we will not be returning.

Dear Merla L Thank you for your review. We are disappointed to hear that your recent visit at the DoubleTree by Hilton Malta did not meet your expectations. We are sorry to hear that we failed to supply sufficient tea and milk for your family, despite our team members' visit to the room. Your feedback has been shared with the Housekeeping team, who will make sure to provide amenities according to the occupancy of any room. We appreciate your comments regarding the temperature of our pool water. Our outdoor pools are all at ambient temperature, given that the climate in Malta is very mild. Certainly, the weather in the last few weeks has been unpredictable, and temperatures have fluctuated quite strongly, so we appreciate that you may have found the water temperature too low for your comfort during the dates of your stay. We hope you will visit us again during the warmer season, when you can enjoy our outdoor pools more fully. As for the indoor pool, we regularly monitor the chlorine dosage in the water to ensure it is according to Health and Safety guidelines, but our Maintenance team will increase the ventilation in the space to dispel the strong odour. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We apologise for our service at the Ombre Bistro and Juniper Bar which clearly was not as prompt or attentive as we would have wished. We understand that efficient service is critical to your overall experience, and we regret that we fell short in this area. We will be addressing this matter with our team members to ensure better communication and service standards moving forward. Your feedback regarding the temperature at which our food in these outlets was served has been shared with the Chef and his team. Thank you for bringing these issues to our attention. Please be assured that we take our guests’ feedback very seriously, and it helps us shape the actions we shall take in order to improve our performance and provide enjoyable experiences to all our guests. We hope that, despite these issues, you have taken home some pleasant memories of your stay with us, and that you will return to our hotel one day. I hope to have the opportunity to oversee your next reservation, and ensure your experience meets your expectations in every way. Kind regards Donna - DoubleTree by Hilton Malta

To avoid …. Very bad image and experience for Hilton double tree malta Review of Hilton Malta Notice pending Notice published: Being used to traveling, I contacted the hotel a month ago, then 15 days ago and finally 2 days before departure to ask them for a quiet room with a bathtub: on arrival nothing was planned and after complaining we find ourselves in a room lower than our reservation but with a bathtub. Thank you for the service despite a Hilton honors status… Work with two cranes starting in the morning at 8 a.m. until the end of the am in front of the swimming pool and sea area (beach unavailable with the work) so no calm and continuous noise pollution.... Food at the Azur restaurant: very little choice, cold and overcooked dishes (on the other hand very good breakfast) Bathroom: no place to put things so we put a bedside table!!! Never seen Poorly soundproofed room you can hear the incessant passage of cars, buses and others... And many more …. Very very bad experience: ruined vacation

A nice, clean hotel in a good location with very good standards and friendly staff.
It was unusually cold in Malta at the time of our trip and we were therefore unable to use the pools, but the whole complex made a well-kept impression. We had booked all-inclusive, food and drinks were available almost around the clock and of really good quality.
We would definitely recommend rooms on the upper floors with a sea view. When we checked in (late in the evening) we were initially given a room on the 2nd floor, which was completely in the shade and hardly offered a view. Our request for a brighter room was initially rejected, but with a little "friendly persistence" we were given a (free) upgrade the next day.
We can really recommend this hotel with a clear conscience and would book here again if we were to come to Malta again.

Had a fabulous 5 nights at the hotel. Fantastic service provided by all the staffs in the hotel. Initially I have been allocated a room with no lock for the bathroom and upon request, straight away they provided me the best room anyone could have. Room service at the top and we have been pampered throughout the stay. Half board customers only can dine at Azure and the rest of the restaurants will be chargeable. Food choices are great with local flavour. Due to summer season, the pools are little busy but never been an issue. Beach is just walking distance and lots of choices of restaurants nearby too. Swans on bed and special chocolates been a surprise for the wedding anniversary.

The entrance hall was lovely. The room was a decent size, but sparsely furnished. Only a bed, small wardrobe, bedside tables, chair and desk. There was no seating despite there being lots of space. The bathroom was adequate, but our flusher unit kept falling off the wall. Our room had a sea view, but was in the shade all day, so we never used the small balcony. Some is the staff were very helpful, but others, usually at the Ombre bar tended to ignore you. They would tell you to sit at a table and someone would come take your order, but still you would wait for ages. I think they need better organising and training. The food was nice in the Ombre bar, but you had to book if wanting evening meal. The main dining room was always really busy and noisy, with the food serving area very cramped and busy, but on the whole, the food wasn't bad. There was a safe in the room, but it was very low down, at the bottom of the wardrobe, and anyone older than ourselves would struggle to get down to tap in the code! The night time entertainment is quite nice, but the bar is so small, most people walked straight back out after not being able to get a seat or table. Poolside towels need to be collected from the indoor pool. You have to go to reception to get a token, then go to the indoor pool, remove your footwear or wear disposable plastic shoe covers to enter and collect your towel. It would be far easier to give them out beside the outdoor pool! On the whole, we enjoyed our stay, but we stayed at the DB seabank 2 years ago, and it was far superior and much cheaper.

Dear juliemZ3932NX Thank you for your review. We are delighted that you enjoyed your visit to the DoubleTree by Hilton Malta generally, but of course we are disappointed to have fallen short of your expectations in some ways. Your feedback regarding the condition of your bathroom has been shared with the Maintenance team who will investigate and make all the necessary repairs. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We normally inspect our rooms very carefully, but clearly there was a shortfall, and we shall take steps to remedy this. We apologise for our service at the Ombre Bistro which clearly was not as prompt or attentive as we would have wished. We understand that efficient service is critical to your overall experience, and we regret that we fell short in this area. We will be addressing this matter with our team members to ensure better communication and service standards moving forward. We appreciate your patience and understanding if, during particularly busy breakfast or dining times, our service was not as speedy as we would have wished. The hotel was indeed very busy during the dates of your visit, but we shall look for ways to improve our performance and ensure our service is the best it can be, even at the busiest of times. We understand that the current system for the distribution of towels may feel inconvenient, and we truly appreciate your suggestion about offering towels directly at the outdoor pools. Your feedback has been shared with the management for review. We hope you will visit us again soon. We look forward to welcoming you back, and to providing you with many enjoyable experiences. Kind regards Donna - DoubleTree by Hilton Malta

My family and I consisting of two adults and two children aged 7 and 9 enjoyed a lovely holiday from 10th - 20th August.
We arrived late at night, but check in staff were very welcoming and we all enjoyed the delicious warm cookies they provided. The room we were initially allocated was not what had been booked, but when this was raised staff quickly had another room made available for us. Both rooms were very clean, and had all the facilities one would expect including good air conditioning, fridges and beautiful sea views.
Food was excellent. We were all Inclusive and the food selection in the Azure buffet restaurant was fantastic for adults and children. My wife is a pescatarian, but had no problem finding varied, healthy and delicious meal options each day. There were some local Maltese delicacies, including Pastizzi, which the whole family enjoyed, and my children loved the huge variety of desserts available.
We spent three evenings eating in the Ombré restaurant at the poolside which is also included in the all inclusive option. As one would expect the choice here was more limited than the buffet restaurant, but the quality excellent, including a selection of deserts that were not only delicious, but crafted beautifully.
A few recent reviews have suggested that there were no snacks or other food options between meals, but that was not our experience as a family. We visited the Ombré restaurant almost every afternoon and enjoyed milkshakes, ice creams and coffees there. There were also a range of other snacks including club sandwiches, which we didn't sample, but witnessed being served to others and looked excellent. These could be eaten in the Ombré restaurant itself which is next to one of the pools or taken away.
It is worth noting that there are no lifeguards on duty poolside which may be of concern for younger families. I would also say that photograph 1 on trip advisor has been taken using a wide angle lens and significantly exaggerates the size of that particular pool, but there are three pools and although busy we were always able to enjoy time in them.
The gym is very small and I felt that a few more items of equipment, including a second exercise bike, would have been a great addition to the fitness suite.
What really made the hotel stand out for our family was how very friendly all the staff were from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. From the front of house staff to those working in the restaurants, the cleaners and managers, everyone seemed cheerful and happy to help any way they could. The Animation team worked really hard to organise mini discos for the kids and pool parties which were hugely appreciated by my daughters and a number of staff chatted happily with us at length which was great. I'd like to specifically mention Sadiq who my 7 year old daughter enjoyed a long and engaging chat with about her holiday whilst he made her toast in the Azure buffet restaurant and Lorenzo, Aariti and Jannat in the Ombré restaurant who were also great with our kids.

My stay at the Doubletree by Hilton Malta St. Paul’s Bay started on a positive note. We arrived early and the receptionist did an excellent job by giving us our wristbands, allowing us to access the hotel facilities even though our room wasn’t ready yet. This wasn’t an issue at all, as we took the opportunity to have a delightful lunch overlooking St. Paul’s Bay.
After lunch, we returned to the hotel but realized our suncream was in our luggage, which was still waiting for our room to be cleaned. As we waited, the service manager approached us, apologized for the wait (even though we were early), and kindly offered us a drink. This gesture was much appreciated and added to our positive experience.
Our king-size sea view room was wonderful, offering stunning views of the bay. It was a perfect spot to relax and enjoy the beauty of St. Paul’s Bay.
In the evening, we went to the buffet, and the outstanding aspect of the hotel experience is definitely the food. Lunch at the buffet always offered multiple choices, with the salads being a go-to option. We were blown away by the buffet selection and also enjoyed meals at another à la carte restaurant, where all the dishes were very good. Special mention to Andrea at the Ombré restaurant, who was great, and Cherry, who provided excellent service throughout our stay. We were always warmly welcomed by Bilzana in the restaurant, adding to our positive dining experiences.
We also watched the football in the bar, where the service was amazing. The staff waited on the tables and ensured we always had a drink, which was a great touch. Evening relaxation in the Juniper Bar was easy with a great choice of cocktails to end the night. Additionally, Emily was always so chatty and keen to make sure we were settled, which made our stay even more enjoyable. Rabi, another server, went above and beyond by getting the chef to make a special chicken dish for me to enjoy. A special shout out to Deosalyn, who was the hardest working waitress in the place, making sure your drinks were always topped up. The service in this hotel is amazing. Furthermore, the abundance of sunbeds means you never have to rush to reserve one early in the morning.
As a final note, the beach facilities are being upgraded, and while some previous reviews mentioned a couple of cranes, you barely notice them. Additionally, it seems there are cranes all over the island, so it's not an issue specific to the hotel.
Overall, the excellent service, stunning views, and delicious food made our stay memorable. Thank you to the staff at Doubletree by Hilton Malta St. Paul’s Bay for making our trip so enjoyable!
I stay in a lot of Hilton’s for work and I have to say that the staff and Service at this new Hilton is the best I have experienced!

Excellent location beside the sea and lots of restaurant /bars all around the area . Staff were very friendly and attentive in all areas reception , restaurant and bar etc. Had full breakfast for our 10 days super choices hot and cold and always seats /table available even when very busy - tables cleared and cleaned quickly and even one staff doing the toast continually so saved having any queues to access toasters. Outdoor pools too cold obviously for end of Nov although 2 good sized pools with plenty of beds which we found to be comfortable and an indoor pool great water temperature large and clean . Always towels available and shower /changing facilities. Room was good bed 10/10 for comfort. We really enjoyed this Hilton stay and do plan to go back . Overall 9/10 all round no complaints !

Local spirits for all inclusive guests but branded ones available at a not too expensive extra.
I believe there is an extra charge for certain things on the menu.
All inclusive isn’t worth it if you want branded drinks and more menu choices.
There’s loads of reasonable restaurants in Malta and it’s great to try new ones in different, easy locations. As this hotel is extremely close to public transport it very easy to get about and taxis are cheap and readily available too.
"Take the local buses and explore the island yourself , far cheaper and you can get around easily then no need to hire a car ....driving looked a bit treacherous "
There are more places to choose from in the St. Paul's Bay area.
