Detailed Reviews
Stayed here for a few days on a business trip nearby. This is an old hotel that has been renovated.
Everything is done well with the rooms having USB ports and plenty of electrical outlets in convenient locations. Bed is a bit softer than I prefer but is probably where most people like their beds (I prefer really firm beds).
The concierge lounge is stocked well for appetizers in evening and morning breakfast is very good with continental to hot choices. The lounge itself is very cozy and quiet.
For those that care, the entrance has a handicap ramp which is a good thing even if you're just rolling your rollerboard luggage instead of lugging it down some concrete stairs.
Only negative is the bathroom is incredibly small. Enough room to fit one person, literally that small...

Friendly staff, great location and modern but also spacious rooms and bathrooms. We like the little ammenities such as a lounge where we could get afternoon tea in a mug and a cookie, breakfast on the same floor as our room. Great bed. Noisy but effective heater. Better to take a room on an upper floor because the street can be loud, but the windows are pretty effective sound-blockers.

1st we were allowed because of availability a early check in. We were traveling from another country and was ready to wind-down. Atiya was exceptionally professional and warm in affability. Kamiel and Dante were very attentive in their duties to keep the Sheraton in a fashion that was in-keeping with the highest standard of the brand and badge. Brenda attached to food and beverage was very accommodating as we requested to pay for the incidentals meta charges to the room. Chef Dhiraj was the consummate culinary artiste and in essence he was a nouvelle cuisine master of the highest magnitude. Sheraton should do a Master-Class on hospitality with these individuals doing the training.

Staff at the desk was very friendly and helped with early check in. The room, unlike in many big cities, was large with plenty of room to work and shades that blocked the light. Their bath products seem superior to what I remember from other Sheratons. The lotion was smooth instead of too liquidy

If you are looking for hip and modern then the Sheraton Commander is not for you but if what you want is an extremely comfortable room that is quiet and well furnished, in a hotel that has a certain understated class and quality then this hotel is perfect. The building is somewhat older so the walls are nice and solid which makes the rooms quiet. They are also fairly large. The hotel restaurant is good too and the hotel is an easy five minute walk to Harvard Square. We have stayed three times in the past year and look forward to staying there again next time we are in town.

We recently stayed at the Sheraton Commander hotel as we were visiting our daughter in Boston. It is three blocks away from her apartment so it was super convenient. We've stayed at the Charles before, but the rate was much higher. We didn't realize it was First Year parents weekend at Harvard, so the rates were certainly inflated. Overall it was a good experience. The building dates back to the 1920s. The rooms were probably updated in the late 1980s/early 1990s. They can certainly use a refresh. The bathroom was small, but that's expected for an old hotel even after renovation. Parking is $45 a day, which i think is expensive and I was disappointed that the hotel does not have complimentary coffee in the morning. Of course I paid $5 for coffee at the restaurant. I know there is a coffee maker in the room, but the coffee is never as good. Overall, the level of service was good. The staff was helpful in regards to some special needs and sent an engineer quickly to resolve the AC problem. Ideally, 3.5 stars is probably better but I went with four stars because of the service.

For the $408 we paid for the night, this was a dismal experience. We booked a room with 2 beds- got one bed and a small roll on , on which feet were sticking out. The AC wasnt working - the night manager offered a tiny table fan which was loud and noisy and ineffective. We started with a stuffy room and ended up freezing toward the morning. We booked through hotwire and so the hotel said they wished they could do a room rate adjustment but they couldn’t because of third party booking . But get this : hotwire said they could give us a refund but the hotel is not authorizing it. Have been trying to reach someone at the hotel for this issue. They keep transferring me to their asst general mgr and the phone just keeps ringing and ringing. Big thumbs down.

The staff here, from front desk check in personnel to maids, to restaurant servers all exhibited similar traits - wonderfully friendly as well as efficient. They made our stay here so pleasant. As Titanium Bonvoy members, we were upgraded in advance to a 1 bedroom suite using SNA certs. .Well done!

The only thing redeeming about this place is its proximity to Harvard. While the rooms are okay on this property (figure popcorn ceiling and older A/C units), the people's attitude is snide and uncaring. The customer is an imposition and always wrong. They run according to their rules and their convenience and devil be darned if the customer gets in the way.
We woke up 2 mornings to a cart right in front of our door. When I asked the housekeeper to move her cart, she was most indignant and shook her head. When I complained at the front desk, they said that the cart was there for their housekeeping staff's convenience even though they admitted that the hallways were narrow.
During the last day of my stay, I found that they were selling the same room type as mine for some $60 less, so I asked them to pricematch my rate. Again they refused to do anything. They would rather lose the business (they don't care) than to do ANYTHING for the customer.
Finally, there were many deferred maintenance issues that occured during my stay. The air conditioning wasn't working in one of our rooms and apparently I was supposed to know to nudge the A/C unit and to unplug and replug it to make it work! The TV also didn't turn on and a very gruff maintenance man told me that I should just use another remote control and left with neary another word or apology. I frankly did not feel safe with such rough and tumble staff.

Dear guest, Thank you for providing feedback from your stay with us. I'm sorry we did not meet your expectations during your visit. We pride ourselves on excellent product and service. I'm sorry our team did not resonate you. Our housekeeping team does use carts for their supplies and this is a very common practice in our industry. I'm sorry the carts were an inconvenience. Additionally, we did make an adjustment to your folio for the challenges you experienced. If you would like to discuss further, please email me at michael.guleserian@sheratoncommander.com. Warmly, Michael Guleserian General Manager

We booked a room for a weekend. The location is an 8 minute walk from Harvard Square. I found the front desk to be friendly and helpful. The hotel room was small but spacious enough for the two of us. It had a small foyer with an adequate closet, a desk, and a chair with lamp for reading. There was a reading light in the room for the chair but I would have liked to been able to brighten up the space a little more. Overall, we had a very nice stay and would stay there again.

Sorry for the late reply. There is street meter parking but it’s limited to 2 hours from 8am-8pm Monday-Saturday.
There are overnight parking lots that are less expensive but a distance away. Saturday night to Sunday street parking is free.
Hope this helps.
Hello! Thank you for your question. The Sheraton Commander does not have shuttle service. We recommend utilizing a taxi when you arrive at the airport. The average cost to/from Logan Airport and the hotel is $45.00.
