Hotel Tindastoll is the oldest hotel in Iceland, dating back in 1884. The building came in parts from Norway and it was assembled as a storehouse in Hofsos between 1820 and 1829, moved later on to Grafarós in 1833 and finally shipped over the fjord and reassembled at its present location in Sauðárkrókur.

Hotel Tindastóll is a terrible hotel. The rooms are very small and cramped. it sounds very loud between rooms in every way. the service is not good. The shower did not work and the price was way too high, do not recommend this at all. Hótel Tindastóll er hræðilegt hótel. Herbergin eru mjög lítil og þröng. það heyrist mjög mikið milli herbergja á alla vegu. þjónustan er ekki góð. Sturtan virkaði ekki vel og verðið allt of hátt. Mæli alls ekki með þessu að neinu leit

Family run, quirky, full of Icelandic settlement history, lovely staff, lovely room, wonderful natural thermal hot tub and just across from the harbour...what more could you want! They also own the KK restaurant just down the road which was also lovely.

The hotel is beautiful and the staff friendly. Lovely rooms that are well heated for the winter. The breakfast room is wonderful and the food is delicious. I highly recommend this traditional hotel for couples and friends who need some time away in this peaceful village.

This is a nice hotel lovely comfortable beds and rooms but any hotel that supplies ear plugs in the room does so for a reason! The reason is there is a bar below ( we were not informed of this) we were awoken at 12:30 by loud music and voices. Not what you would expect in such a sleepy little town and a seemingly quiet hotel when all of the other bars in town are closed. Perhaps this was the only bar open? It was a great disappointment for sure, we were only there for one night so I don't know if is it a regular occurrence or not, but we were glad to leave .

We would have regretted missing this superb hotel (note: we were in the original building and have no idea about the annex). It has history, charm, style and unexpected amenities but if it's modern you're looking for, then quite possibly not for you. Great welcome and taken personally to our room and given explanations, shown the special outdoor hot tub (we used it) and advised on restaurants for dinner - short walking distance. Superb breakfast in an almost cave like lower floor with good food choices. Easy parking opposite the hotel and no safety concerns. If lucky, you might be allocated the room Marlene Dietrich once occupied - we were!
