Travelled HNL-ATL non stop at last minute full fare on Delta in order to honor a beloved military family friend who died unexpectedly, to attend her memorial service at Christ Episcopal Church in Kennesaw, GA this past Sunday. We are an active duty military family serving overseas and are of limited means, but we had to honor the memory of our military family friend who died. The flight that got us to ATL from HNL in time to attend the Kennesaw funeral later that same day, arrived in Atlanta at 6am after an 8 hour+ flight. The Embassy Suite Kennesaw Hilton staff lady that answered our call and kindly listened to our request, caringly did locate an available room for early check in so that we could at least clean up and change out of our travelwear, into our funeral attire, in time for the mid afternoon funeral… she did this with grace and compassion, and transparency, she noted it was not our preferred type of room under normal circumstances, she did not make us feel unwanted or “less than” for our request. She DID make our military family feel appreciated, heard and understood — feel at home— even being some 5,000 miles away from our house across the US and across the Pacific. Even at check in, later she and her team, were kind, we surely were travel weary and frazzled, yet the front desk team, the breakfast team, all made sure we knew what hospitality choices for hosted made to order breakfast and evening reception were available for our stay— folks smiled, folks made eye contact, folks paused and listened and were kind. Thank you Embassy Suites Hilton Kennesaw — you were home and you were family. Our difficult journey under the circumstances, was made brighter thanks to your team’s kindness to our family during our bereavement travel honoring our dear military family friend Kitty in Kennesaw, GA and, her beautiful family. With aloha and thanks, US Army Captain Family stationed at 25th Infantry Division Schofield Barracks Wahiawa, Hawaii…
We decided to take a handicapped suite for my wife’s recovery from surgery. As she was non weight bearing for 12 weeks and had to be in a wheelchair, Embassy Suites provided a much better alternative to a nursing home or rehab facility. It became “home” for us and staff felt like family. The whole staff from the GM to the desk managers, to the maintenance staff to housekeeping to the breakfast buffet ladies could not have been nicer and more responsive to our special needs.
Found molded food under my bed. The air vents are full of dust. The bed frames do not fit the bed, my wife cut her shin. Moved rooms and the refrigerator broke. The elevators and hallways and the rooms all smell musty. Will not stay here again.
This was the worst Embassy Suites we have ever stayed in. The room was rundown, dirty, and badly in need of some updating. The toilet seat didn't fit the toilet and would slide off whenever you sat down. The bathrooms are small and stains are all over the door, the walls, the shower. There were never clean towels in the pool. For the prices they charged, I would have expected something much better. This was on par with a Days Inn but much much more expensive.
The room was clean but had maintenance issues. There was no toilet paper holder just a roll left unwrapped under the sink for use and there was a gaping hole in the wall around a internet router that was in the bedroom.
