The Pelham Hotel is lauded for its excellent value, with guests enjoying its prime location close to the French Quarter and Canal Street. While some guests have called out the lack of certain amenities and the noise in small rooms, the unique charm and retro decor, complete with vintage radios, contribute to a culturally rich atmosphere. The staff's friendly and attentive service receives high marks, and the hotel's overall cleanliness is praised, although suggestions for improvement like adding shower curtains have been noted.

Wow. We stayed for five days four nights. It was myself, wife and daughter. We were all very impressed walking into the hotel. It has a beautiful quaint lobby. The hotel has recently had a major renovation, May 2022 by my understanding. So dont pay too much attention to older photos.

We were greeted by Abigail, she was very friendly and got us checked in quickly and explained everything very thoroughly. The room was very attractive. It had a few minor minor issues, the bathroom door would stick, and the space between the bed and the wall was a bit tight, but neither one of those would stop me from staying her again. The cleaning staff was amazing. In these times that you hear of hotels lacking staff for cleaning, our room was cleaned and reset every single day.

It is a great location! It is about a block from Canal and just north of Harrah's casino. Everything is within walking distance. There is a restaurant, the Ruby Slipper at the corner of the building. Eat there at least once. You will not be disappointed. BUT.....check in before going down to the restaurant, or let the front desk know that you would like to eat there, they can get you a spot if you let them know before 6am.

The rooms are awesome, cool design. the beds were uber-comfortable. I had some of the best sleep I've had in a long time. It was very restful sleep after a long day of walking. With the hotel being located away from some of the bars etc, the area is quiet.

So the small inconveniences: the first two nights, one of our neighbors was a smoker. the smell would travel through the vents. I did not see this as the hotel's fault. The bathroom door seemed to expand after a shower. so it was a little hard to open, had to give it a shoulder hit to pop it open, but maintenance would just need to shave it down a bit.

Needless to say I would definitely stay here again and definitely recommend it without question.

The Pelham Hotel was a gem right off of the French Quarter. It was just a two-block walk to the Canal Street streetcar and many restaurants but it was quiet at night, which was essential with our 9 yr old traveling with us. The room on the fourth floor was clean with a large bathroom stocked with Grown Alchemist toiletries. When we arrived in the room, the cute Victrola radio was on and tuned to a local station playing music, which was very welcoming. The staff was super friendly and made breakfast reservations for us at The Ruby Slipper (excellent breakfast). The only drawback was that the hot water took a solid five minutes to warm up in the morning, but once hot, the shower pressure was great. I would definitely return here!

This hotel is in the best location of all the hotels we’ve stayed in New Orleans - one block off Canal St/French Quarter and close to the St Charles streetcar as well. We booked in the Annex Building and the room was large, quiet, and bright. Housekeeping did a great job daily and an issue I reported with a leaky toilet was fixed immediately - thanks! Free coffee in the mornings in the lobby was nice. They also had a water tap in the lobby with better tasting water than from the tap in the room. Coming and going the front desk staff always greeted us and we liked how the front lobby door was locked and accessible with our room key. We would definitely stay here again!

EVERYTHING is a la cart... there are no microwaves in the rooms... the staff was very friendly and helpful. The windows were drafty. The shower design was not thought out completely, we had to use multiple towels to keep the floor from getting drenched. They should put shower curtains in their showers... the hotel we stayed at in Vegas has the same design for their showers but they put shower curtains in all of their showers for this very reason.

The pros: location, friendliness of staff, and nice accommodations, room seem newly updated

This could be a four-star hotel, but lacks a few things. First off, our room was extremely nice and had a mini fridge as well as a Keurig coffee maker. Hot shower but takes a few minutes to warm up. The bed was comfy, AC worked well. The negative was that we chose a queen inside room which was fine, but the lighting in the room was horrible and very dark. If the lighting was better, we would choose this room again. I would suggest getting a room with a window. The lobby is small. No ice machine but have small bags of ice available for free. No gym nor pool, but we wouldn’t use those anyway. The hotel has an authentic New Orleans feel. Very convenient that the Ruby Slipper is just next door and connected to the hotel. You can get priority early bird seating there (the restaurant stays slammed), if you let the hotel staff know the evening before. We love the location. Very close walking distance to the French Quarter. We would definitely stay here again but would choose a different room. The staff is amazing.

This small, boutique hotel is a two-minute walk from Harrah's (now Casaers New Orleans), and a short walk from the French Quarter as well as the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. It was very clean, recently updated and staffed with courteous and competent personnel. We drove in from San Antonio and took advantage of the valet parking garage service. It is pricey, but completely worth the service and protection. The beds were extremely comfortable and the snack bar offers quick bites, excellent coffee and good alcoholic beverages. For more robust fare, the Pelham is co-located with the Ruby Slipper Cafe, an establishment with several locations around the city. I believe the Ruby Slipper makes the stay at the Pelham worth extra consideration. The menu is extensive and pays homage to the local culinary traditions. Because of its popularity, the lines are almost always long, but don't let that dismay you. The staff are a bunch of absolute hustlers and we never waited more than ten minutes even during the most crowded times. While not a luxury hotel, the Pelham certainly met our needs and its location is hard to beat.

This hotel exceeded our expectations! I was initially hesitant to book because, as a regular New Orleans visitor for 40+ years, I didn’t have much knowledge of it and I thought it may be just a mediocre, budget-conscious lodging. I was wrong. It’s a very nice hotel in a good location (just a block across Canal Street from The Quarter). It’s within very close proximity to public transportation access as well as Harrah’s (if you plan to visit the casino). Our room was on the second floor overlooking Magazine at Common, and it was perfect for us. It was somewhat compact, particularly the bathroom, but there was ample room for us. It featured a comfortable bed, huge flat screen tv, nice closet with safe, a small refrigerator, and good air conditioning. But the most impressive aspect of our stay was the cleanliness of our room. When we checked in, it was immaculate and the daily housekeeping staff kept it that way throughout our 3-night stay. All personnel were friendly and helpful. We offer extra thanks to Nesha who checked us out, stored our luggage for awhile, and arranged a great taxi for us. We look forward to staying at The Pelham again!

I take some responsibility but never in a million years did I imagine a hotel would have rooms on the ground floor, facing the street. No soundproofing and you could hear every word when people walked by but the icing on the cake was the very loud garbage trucks starting at 4:45 a.m. making multiple pick up until 6:30 a.m. It's a good location but by all means make sure you reserve a room on an upper floor. When I mentioned to the front desk that our room should be half price, while friendly, he pretended it was the first time a guest had complained about the noise. We liked that the property was more atmospheric than a big name hotel but the hotel should not even offer the rooms on the ground floor.

Maltomine, thank you for your feedback. It is unfortunate that noise was an issue during your stay. Our central location can sometimes bring street sounds, but we appreciate your comment about reserving an upper floor room for a quieter experience. Our team members always strive to offer a pleasant stay and will take your suggestions into account. We're glad to hear you appreciated the hotel's unique atmosphere and location.

We had a great stay at The Pelham Hotel. The hotel is in a good location and very close to the French Quarter. It’s in easy walking distance to lots of sights. The staff were all friendly and helpful.
Great location for breakfast next door at The Ruby Slipper, hotel guests can get priority booking between 7am and 8am.
The room was clean, a great size with high ceilings. Would definitely stay again.
