I was in town to celebrate my birthday and Mardi Gras!! The love and positive energy we received on our trip to New Orleans started the second we arrived at the Hotel Moteleone and were greeted by Eddie's beautiful smile at the golden doors to this BEAUTIFUL hotel! Our room was not ready as we had arrived before check in time. We meet Nolan, Julian and Blaire who were handling the luggage room with ease, they made the process so simple for us and from the moment we meet them we were treated as friends not just guests. Nolan escorted us a few blocks down to a suggested restaurant (Mr.Ed's-DELICIOUS-Amazing fried catfish with red beans and rice!!) to grab some food while we waited for our room to become available. Our room was ready before we even finished eating. Next we were greeted by the hotels lobby ambassador Diana or "Princess Diana" as we liked to call her. She loves what she does and we never stopped smiling while we were talking with her! She gave us the ins and outs of the town, really how to have the best experience in the French Quarter and she was right about all of it! I won't give her secrets away here, you'll have to go see her to find out! We had breakfast in the hotel restaurant Criollo where Della took great care of us! The carousel bar was so FUN! The hotel paid attention to details, all the carpets were covered with plastic to keep them safe from the partying that was happening during Mardi Gras. They also had "Boss" checking that you were a hotel guest before sending you up the elevator. They thought of it all! The hotel was great at communicating any change in their service since it was a hectic time for them. Any need we had was not a problem for the housekeeping staff. The rooms were beautiful, clean and well maintained. The rooftop pool had an incredible view of the city! The hotel location was perfect for us, we could be out in the mix partying and then stop into our room for a quick refresh. The City of New Orleans has such a welcoming, caring and fun spirit and the Hotel Monteleone mirrors that exact spirit in all of their staff ! There is so much to see and do outside of Mardi Gras, I can't wait to go back and the Hotel Monteleone will be my first stop! Steph L xoxo

From the time we arrived, until our departure, we always feel welcome at the Hotel Monteleone. As our Uber pulled up the doorman came immediately to help with our bags. The hotel was decorated for the holidays and looked very festive. Occupancy was low, so the staffing was also low. As you approach the front desk, the staff are behind plexiglass and they are all wearing masks. We were greeted with a warm "Welcome Back". Our room (Royal Salon) was very clean and very well stocked with towels and amenity items. There were two cold bottles of water in the mini fridge. There was enough soap and shampoo in the room for our entire stay, but additional supplies were just a phone call away. Daily housekeeping was available by request only. We had a great view of the river and a comfortable bed with a excessive amount of pillows.

The location of this property is one of it's signature selling points. One block of Bourbon and just a few blocks from the river. The Carousel Bar was closed due to Covid restrictions which was a little disappointing, but obviously not the fault of the hotel.

The communication provided by the property is also great. No one should arrive and be surprised the Carousel Bar is closed or that the restaurant, Criollo, is only open for breakfast. It is posted on the website as well as literature provided in your room. The even tell you about the government restrictions and possibilities of fines if you break the rules.

It is hard for me to find too many problems at this hotel. I feel any complaint on my part would just be a personal hypercritical issue not worth mentioning in this forum.

If you want a great stay, in the heart of the Quarter, where you feel welcome and comfortable, Hotel Monteleone is the place.

All positives from this visit. Easy valet parking. Gorgeous lobby and bar and lounge. Fantastic service across the board. Rooms were clean and well designed, good water pressure lots of hot water AND they didn’t charge for the water bottles in the hotel room (it’s the little things). We had a couple cocktails and charcuterie at the lounge. Wife’s gin drink was great, my amador old fashion was so so (need a big cube of ice, bunch of little ice watered it down), charcuterie plate was good not great, I’d like a list of what’s on the charcuterie plate. Expensive night but worth the splurge didn’t disappoint.

I love that Hotel Monteleone embraces their pet-friendliness with a special pet package. Online, it states that every guest gets a pet goodie bag filled with "a mat for your pooch to rest its bones on, monogrammed water and food bowls, and a chew toy...gourmet treats, waste bags, and a brochure of pet-friendly attractions in the city." My bag did not include the extra bowl, mat, and gourmet treats, which was a bummer. The pet fee is quite high at $100 per stay plus $25/night so when you're paying that kind of price, you'd expect everything to be in there.

Everything else was mostly wonderful. It's in a superb location, right in the heart of the French Quarter, so I was able to walk to all the sites I wanted to visit with my dog including Cafe Du Monde and Woldenberg Park.

The room was great for the most part except during the day there was a street musician blasting his speakers right in front of my window and he played there for hours. I tried to switch rooms, but there is limited availability with pet-friendly rooms (they are all located on the 3rd floor), so I wasn't able to. Luckily, he was gone by 8pm. The bed is super comfortable I had the best sleep. The shower was nice with great pressure and hot water, but the bathroom is rather small. The counter space was especially small.

Service was exceptional. Almost every single staff member greeted me and/or opened the door for me around the hotel. And the bellhop that helped me with my luggage when I checked in remembered my name and my dog's name! That was very impressive.

My family originally started with the Truman Capote Suite with a additional room for our son. We have always stayed at the Ritz or Monteleone, I recently stayed at the Ritz with my daughter so we went back to Monteleone this visit. We stayed 2 nights and added another two nights in the Earnest Hemingway Suite off the pool. Our first two nights were amazing as always, the doorman, the staff, the restaurant just amazing!! We enjoyed having our son visit from LSU and enjoy it as well.
The problem came in at the room switch. After I unpacked and stayed putting our toiletries away I noticed the toilet was stopped up and called the front desk who sent maintenance up. It took him two trips and 45 minutes to snake out a bar of soap and the plastic wrap that the soap was wrapped in. We did not do that and thought how odd that was. I went to the wet bar area and put our king cake on the counter where I found a wine glass with dried wine in the bottom of the glass. Now I am concerned. I called the front desk and I quickly sprayed everything down with Lysol and wiped all surfaces as we were tired wanted to go to bed. The next day we left at 11 am for the day I stopped by the front desk and told the front desk again and the gentleman said he had heard about it and I told him I thought a employee had maybe been in the room as the maids would surely have noticed the toilet being stopped up even if they missed the glass (however, with COVID, I find it very concerning that the housekeepers would not be more vigilant) and that the employee went to wash up went they were finished and knew they could not leave the soap out or throw it in the trash can, so they thought they flushed it.
Where the problem comes in is I asked for them to please have housekeeping totally clean the room. We would be gone all day so it would be clear- he asked if I took do not disturb sign off door and I said I did. He reassured me that this was not how they clean the rooms and he would be sure it was cleaned. We returned at 7 and were shocked to find the most expensive room in the building had not been cleaned!! I checked to make sure I had taken the Do not Disturb sign down and it was on the table by the door. I called downstairs and told the front desk and she said she would call a manager. I asked for the room to be clean and she said she must call a manager. 45 mins later she called and said they could deliver towels but they did not have staff to clean the room this late. Wow. I spend $1500 a night and have basically been in a dirty room since I checked into the Earnest Hemingway Suite. And to further compound the situation they offer me a $300 discount. I have always adored this beautiful, iconic hotel- sadly I would recommend everyone to get the regular rooms. The nicer suite was not worth it if you have to clean and make the beds after walking around all day when you return.

We lucked out- no more than a 1/2 walk to any of the French Quarter Highlights. We loved the classic style and service of the Monteleone and the cost was the same as many 3-star establishments. The doormen made us feel safe and the concierge always ready to help with a restaurant suggestion. Comfortable beds with luxurious linens and high end bathroom products. We loved our view of the Mississippi

I stayed in the Hotel Monteleone over the Christmas holidays. The lobby was decorated beautifully, and I was very pleased with the mid-tier room that I had booked. I had read that the lower priced accommodations were very small, so I was happy to pay an additional fee for the upgraded room.

The front desk employees were very pleasant and accommodating. I had an issue which I was told by the staff is a known problem, in connecting to the internet. It was crucial for me to be able to work on this trip so having the connection difficulty was frustrating. There does not appear to be an in-house tech solutions person as I was given the phone number to an automated system that eventually connected me to an outside vendor who services the Monteleone. The worker stayed with me as I worked through solutions and finally it was determined that the code given to guests was an incorrect one. The problem was quickly solved. I shared the correct code with the front desk and they felt that news would be very helpful to the other guests who were also having problems hooking up to wi-fi.

I cannot say enough about the bell services and front door staff. They remembered me when I would leave and then again upon return. They made suggestions for shopping and dining and always had a smile.

Unfortunately, although I was a hotel guest, I could never enjoy a drink at the Carousel Bar. At 10:30 am, people started lining up in the lobby to get in and this was the case until the very late evening hours. I thought I might sit in the lobby and enjoy the ambience, but the Monteleone's lobby appears to be a resting place for many city visitors and few actual guests of the hotel. There was never an available chair during my 4 day stay.

My impression of the hotel is that it has excellent customer service and I very much enjoyed my upgraded room. The location is absolutely perfect. Please keep in mind that when I visited, I was a solo traveler who had some business to conduct. This is why I was not particularly appreciative of the crowds in the hotel. I believe had I been with a larger party or part of a celebration, my impression may well have been different.

This family run hotel has it all: great service, food, bars and location. I only wish it was hot enough for us to use the heated rooftop pool! When you enter the lobby you immediately feel taken in by the elegance and the proud history of the hotel. Cynthia at the front desk was very helpful and warm when we checked in. I have the other areas of the hotel reviewed below:

Rooms: Our rooms were spacious and clean. The water pressure for the shower was great and we received a lot of fresh clean towels every night. I did like the added touch of the embossed sheets.

Location: It's located in the heart of the French Quarter on Royal Street just steps away from some of the best restaurants in town. It's also walking distance to the best NOLA sights. It's close to the action and bars without all the noise that comes with it. Royal Street is by far the most charming in the French Quarter with the art galleries and fine dinning restaurants serving as a buffer between the craziness on Bourbon Street.

Food/Bar: Hotel Monteleone's carousel bar is an experience in itself. It's takes 15 mins for the carousel to make a complete turn so four turns per hour. The experience is worth the wait and the staff have a wealth of knowledge on different cocktails. The attached restaurant at Criollo is also great.

Overall this hotel was an amazing find and we would be more than happy to stay here again when we return to New Orleans.

Booked a last-minute trip to NOLA through a travel agent (my first time ever using one). She recommended 3 hotels based on our criteria, and out of the 3, we chose this one, also the most expensive of the 3. We tend to prefer historic, small properties that are centrally located within safe, easy walking distance of sights and dining. We avoid large, big-box, sterile hotels. Hotel Monteleone checks all boxes, although there were some large groups staying while we were there, and they were often in evidence in the lobby and restaurant. At 500+ rooms, this may disqualify the hotel from the “small” category and the groups somewhat diminished the intimate feeling. We booked a standard king room and since one of our requests was for a quiet location, were assigned to a room on the 10th floor where the air exchange system covered up what little street noise reached our room. As others have said, bathrooms are small and there is very limited counter space. The rooms have old world charm and are nicely appointed. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the sheets were divine. The hotel staff is amazing; it is obvious that many have worked here for a very long time, and they display a love for their jobs. The restaurant was outstanding, and we can’t imagine getting better beignets anywhere else. Elevators are surprisingly fast making popping down to the lobby easy. The Hotel Monteleone is a wonderful hub for your NOLA vacation.

Hi, We stayed there at Christmas time so I am sure it was an elevated price...something like $250 a night but of course there are MANY add ons and parking is $50 a day!!! If you are looking to stay in the French Quarter Place De Arms slam in the middle of the Quarter and close to Cafe DuMonde is great and a little cheaper but the same on parking. go by train and don't fool with a car or fly and uber. uber has gotten very expensive als0,

The hotel is old and very gracious. Rooms are not that large - no idea about the suites, but the Staff is amazing and helpful. It is within walking distance to whatever the French Quarter offers. No it doesn't seem to cater to children - but has a pool and workout facility. If you want the true French Quarter "experience", there is no better choice than the Monteleone.
