Definitely a 10! I have to give a special thank you to Julie Yates. She was amazing. The Bellmen were THE best!! Incredibly efficient and accommodating. And, all of the staff at the Omni royal Orleans, made my five-year-old feel so welcome and special and that meant the world to me. Treat yourself to the prime rib in the Omni royal Orleans Rib Room. It’s the best! Be sure to take advantage of the rooftop pool with an incredible view of the French Quarter and Mississippi River. We find it very hard to stay anywhere else when you have the best right there, just two blocks from Bourbon Street.

The hotel has a LOT of charm. I also know that it was a busy time and it looked like 2 wedding parties were staying here but the staff could have been a bit friendlier. I was ok with the price as the location was great. We arrived 20 minutes before check-in and it was made clear that this was a major inconvenience to the staff. When we asked where we could leave our luggage the individual pointed to the hallway and said to wait over there. After waiting 25 minutes I went over to inquire if there was a location to drop our luggage and we could check in later. The surly staff member said our room was ready. I was very grateful. Our room was immediately across from the elevator. I knew this would be loud. The room was tiny but charming and the bathroom was updated but exceedingly small. Throughout the night there were many loud drunken conversations had at the elevators just outside our door and a lot of screaming and laughing. One guest turned up their television so loud it drowned out the revelers. Upon checkout the surly staff member asked how we slept and I said not bad considering the proximity to the elevators. "Well, you were early", he said. It is a pretty and charming hotel but I am unlikely to indulge its hospitality a second time.

I realize this review is a little late but as we were making plans for our next trip to New Orleans I read some bad reviews and felt like we had to add our good one. I am sorry there were some who had a bad experience but ours was everything we could ask for. Last June was our 50th anniversary and we wanted to celebrate in the town where we honeymooned. When we made hotel and dining reservations in March, we never dreamed Covid would last more than a few weeks. The 1st thing that happened was our hotel canceled on us. We decided to try the Omni and not only were they going to be open but when we got there, they had upgraded our room and left chilled champagne in honor of our 50th. The head of security personally took us to our room and made sure we knew demonstrations were scheduled for the French Quarters that night. We stayed in the hotel for dinner and the restaurant was amazing both the food and staff. The next day being our actual 50th we had breakfasts reservations at Court of the Two SIsters and dinner reservations at Antoines just as we had on our honeymoon. We woke up to texts from both places canceling our reservations stating they had decided not to open as they had told us they would the day before. Of course, we were disappointed but the Omni staff did everything they could to suggest alternatives for us. We chose to dine again at the Omni restaurant and they made it special for us including a visit from the chef and well wishes from everyone. Many of our favorite N.O. places were closed because of Covid and the demonstrations but we were always warmly welcomed each time we returned to the hotel. Our reservations were to stay until Monday then head to Destin but on Sunday the head of security once again checked on us advising us Tropical Storm Cristóbal was headed to New Orleans and suggested that if we could get in our Destin room a day early, we should consider leaving Sunday. We confirmed early arrival and did enjoy watching the French Quarters prepare for the storm. The Omni staff helped us with everything, making sure we weren't charged for the original planned extra night. The entire staff from the girl that checked us in through the security guard, restaurant staff, and parking staff could not have been more helpful, pleasant, or professional. I'm sure things happen that cause problems for other guests on occasions, but we couldn't be more pleased with our stay and plan on booking them again to re-celebrate our 50th on our 51st as soon as we're sure all the spots we want to go to will be opened again. Elbert and Sharla Wells

We've been to NOLA many, many times for work and pleasure. We've stayed at many hotels in New Orleans and decided to stay at the Omni Royal the past several times. years ago this was a beautiful hotel with excellent service. However our last trip in November 2019 and this trip from May 17 - May 22 was a disappointment. Service was minimal (maybe because of Covid behavior?) and the rooms need updating. We stayed in room 330. The carpet was filthy, with stains and dirt so bad that you needed to wear your shoes. My wife was in stocking feet one day and her socks were black. Here are some other items that need mentioning..... The bathroom fixtures were corroding The outlets next to the bed were worn out The lamp didn't work The handle on the bathroom door was loose There are spots/stains on the wall Positives.... The bed was in good shape The air conditioner worked very well and wasn't loud The pool and bar on the top floor is a standout! The bar at the Rib Room is nice and bar tenders mix a good drink The Omni is not a budget hotel and we expect more from a hotel of this caliber. With the rooms so worn, we are looking for a new hotel when we travel to NOLA next time.

Charming hotel in a perfect location. The plus side is the obvious...nice roof top pool and bar and balconies! The downside is the noise that can be heard depending which side your room is located (there are street musicians on two corners adjacent to the hotel - some are wonderful, some not so much, unless you like electric violin howling away hip hop songs;) Also, your balcony may not be so private. ours was across from the court house and its dumpsters, and our neighbors were making the most of hanging out on theirs. The roof top area is rather small so the area fills up quickly on a sunny day. So if you're a private person this may not be your cup of tea. But our rainy, cloudy stay was lovely.
