As my first trip since being vaccinated I was so looking forward to this trip as a special experience. I had been planning this for over two years since I had to cancel twice because of COVID. My first mistake was selecting this hotel. I should have booked something closer to downtown but my husband who was a World War II buff wanted to stay here. I had to Uber to quite a few places I wanted to visit instead of being quickly able to walk there. I have stayed at numerous Hilton properties over the years and I am a Diamond member. I have always been recognized as such and felt my business was appreciated. This was not the case here. No recognition, no upgrade, no breakfast just pastry and coffee and the people behind the desk although professional really did not seem to care. I had booked two rooms under my name and somehow one of the reservations ended up under my daughters name and Hilton Honors number. I have no idea how that happened. We were not given a higher floor room or corner room instead a third floor room with a concrete view. This was changed the next day when I requested it. As I researched this hotel I booked it knowing the amenities were limited. I was there four nights and I was stopped twice by families asking where they should eat. It was seven o’clock and even the little snack shop was closed. I suggested Door Dash. The lovely restaurant; lobby bar and executive lounge all being closed. There is a rooftop bar that was nice with a limited menu but one night it was raining and when we tried to go we weren’t able to get in the door it was so crowded. Understandably so being the only service open. I agree with the other reviews that it is a beautiful hotel. My room was acceptable and I knew when I booked that services were limited. I am sure in a few months amenities will be restored. I just wish I had waited to travel until then.

Hotel's Favorite
We were surprised and impressed by how beautifully decorated the hotel was (Art Deco, with a touch of military history tossed in (as it is adjacent to the WWII Museum)). The room was nicely appointed (yes, free wifi), and Art Deco theme continued. Bathroom was roomy, as was the shower. I suppose because they’re relatively new, there were a few kinks to work out: they didn’t clean our room (but cleaned our friends’); the expansive downstairs lounge (which looks great) was not open yet (and the first night of our stay, the rooftop bar was closed for a private party so no cocktails at the Higgins); and the little store/cafe offered very limited hours. Interesting neighborhood, and, because it’s not in the Quarter, relatively easy access. We definitely plan to return.

The Higgins Hotel New Orleans is an Arte Deco beauty located directly across from the WWII Museum. It is a place of beauty, freshness, comfort, and easy service from the staff. The room was super clean and sanitized with a wrap on the TV remote. There was an extra spray bottle for further sanitization if needed. The bed was comfortable and the air-con cool. Rosie's Rooftop Bar is unique and fun. What a pleasant stay with an excellent parking rate for the lot conveniently next door. Located near the art galleries in the washed clean, safe, and renovated warehouse area. Will Take the Elevator Home at the Higgins the next time I am in town.

What a treat this stay was! Check in was efficient and friendly. The hotel felt pretty quiet, despite high occupancy as the restaurant(s) etc are still closed to due to COVID. We were upgraded to a truly amazing room - the Eisenhower suite which was huge and felt really special with nice detailed decor touches throughout. Truly a great job. The hotel was just offering credits for the coffee shop rather than any kind of breakfast option and it was fine given the circumstances. If you're looking for a hotel that's a bit away from the craziness of Bourbon St, then this is definitely a good option as the area is pretty quiet at night. If you're okay with the NOLA humidity, the hotel is located within walking distance of the garden district and the brighter lights of the French quarter are a bit more of a walk. Overall, thoroughly enjoyed my stay here.
