Husband and I spent couple days here before launching on a cruise. Walked from Amtrak train station to hotel (15 min.). Rode Uber to French Quarter (maybe 10 min.) walked to local restaurants & Harrah's Casino. Then walked 2 blocks to cruise port! Super handy location. Hotel is modern and well kept. Our room looked clean however needed a little more attention to detail like vacuuming along the baseboards (hair that didn't belong to us sat there), thorough cleaning of floor at toilet base and making sure all hair is cleaned out of bathroom sink and shower. The free "to-go" breakfast was of good quality; variety of croissants, coffee, tea, orange juice. Staff was friendly and courteous.

We stayed here recently for a couples night away.
The first thing we noticed was the location. This place is in an amazing location close to so many good restaurants and attractions, and it is a reasonable walking distance to the Quarter. Parking, however, was not as easy as we would have hoped. The valet was backed up, so we weren't able to unload our things in the front as the front is small. We ended up parking a few blocks away, which was fine, but some may consider this an inconvenience.
The lobby is small but beautifully decorated, however, because it is small, there didn't seem to be a lot of staff.
The rooms are nicely decorated with a sitting area with a very comfortable couch and separate bedroom. The multiple outlets and Aveda toiletries are a nice touch, and the bed was comfortable. The vents in both the bathroom and bedroom were very dusty though. The shower could have been cleaner as well as the carpets.
Overall, we would probably stay again.

I stayed at The Mercantile Hotel for business at the convention center. This location is easily walkable to the center . The staff was great- always saw 2 people at the desk willing to help and friendly. Valet parking was a little pricey but since parking is at a premium in this area, it is well worth the convenience . The suite was great. Had a large shower with good water pressure and well lit mirror. Loved that this is an old repurposed building and two of the walls in our room were bricked. The living room area had a record player with a few jazz/big band albums to unwind to at night . Clean rooms, includes a small fridge and micro wave and coffee maker that takes kcups. Good breakfast is also offered . Exercise room is small but has a bike, treadmill and cable machine, no dumbbells . Comfortable accommodations and I would stay here again.

Pros: Location, comfortable beds, nice bar
Cons: Bathroom filthy and in need of repair/renovation

We just finished a three night stay at the Mercantile and it was extremely disappointing. I was excited when I booked this hotel based upon the positive reviews on the various travel sites. It is in a great location and very close to everything. That being said, the rooms (especially the bathrooms) are in need of a deep clean and repair. When we checked into our first room, we immediately noticed hair everywhere on the bathroom floor and mold/mildew in the grout lines on the floor, in the shower, and on the side of the toilet. Some of the tiles were cracked. The toilet bowl didn’t appear to be cleaned as there was mildew growing inside. It also looked like something was spilled on the bathroom floor. There was mildew growing on the ceiling. Additionally, the toilet paper holder was hanging from the wall. The bedroom had a patched square in the ceiling that looked like a piece of sheetrock was cut out for access and replaced; however, nobody taped and mudded the edges. Many of the furniture and fixtures were worn out and chipped.

The front desk was very responsive and sent somebody up to clean the floor and shower when we mentioned it. They told us while they didn’t have any rooms available, we could move rooms the next day. We moved rooms the next day, and after awhile noticed the new room had many of the same issues. The grout in the tiles was moldy and the tile/ grout lines on the floor along the shower were all cracked and deteriorated. The glass on both showers have large gaps between the wall and the glass and between the floor and glass, allowing water to leak out. Additionally, there was an access panel in the bathroom ceiling that was rusty, along with the door hinges. After being in new room for awhile, we noticed that something was spilled all over the carpet in the bedroom and on the cloth headboard and couch. The fixtures in this room were also extremely worn and chipped in several places as well. Additionally, we noticed a fried food smell during the night and realized the bathroom smelled like whatever was being cooked in the kitchen on the first floor(we were on the 10th). I am not sure if there was an exhaust vent nearby, or if the smell was coming up the adjacent elevator shaft. While the hotel is in a great location and has a great bar, the rooms are in need of deep cleaning and repair. I will not be staying here again

Overall it was an OK stay. I arrived late on a Sunday night and was given a standard king room on the ninth floor with a gorgeous view. However, the room had a strong smoke smell with overlying air freshener. I called the front desk to request a room change and the woman immediately apologized but said they only had a double queen room and sent me a key so I could check it out. The room smelled better so I took it even though the room was on the fourth floor facing a parking lot. The next morning I requested a king suite, which I got but it was on the 4th floor and lacked the view. I realized then that the smell was likely from the long exposed brick wall and was therefore in every room (even the double queen room although more subtle), so I decided to just stay, but had I known that, I would have just stayed in the original room on the 9th floor.

Pros: close to convention center and French quarter, robes in the double queen suite (but not the king suite?), cute robot that delivered toothbrush and toothpaste to my room, cute decor, front desk was very responsive to all requests.

Cons: smoke odor from the exposed brick wall in all rooms, curtains on windows were very cheap and difficult to close, especially with the large expanse of windows and being on the lower floor, everything was visible to the outside.

This is a very solid 3 star hotel and the price and condition of the rooms reflect this. The suite layout and decor were just what I was looking for and the location was great for walking everywhere so overall it was satisfactory.

Our family stayed in the hotel for three nights during this winter holiday break. We used the hotel valet parking for our entire stay. On the second night at about 11pm, the valet parking person knocked our door and told us that the door-side window of our mini-van, a sienna 2011, was smashed in the hotel parking lot. We came together to the scene and saw that our car window was completely smashed, with glasses spreading all over the car floor. I drove the car to a car wash store and used the vacuum cleaner there to clean the glasses. I came back to hotel at 2pm, exhausted. The next day, I had to drive the car to Safelite to fix the window. It ruined our family's whole day and we had to hide this horror from our two young children. The hotel ended up covering the window replacement cost, but I did all the hard work myself to get the car cleaned and fixed, and the hotel manager did not even show up or give me a call as nothing had happened. This is the most horrible experience my family and I have ever had with a hotel. We would never go there again, and we would like to warn you: there is a real risk of having your car smashed at the valet parking in Mercantile Hotel!

Where do I start!
Arriving to the hotel was super easy and straight forward checking in was a breeze everyone we came in contact with were super helpful from places to eat to things to see.My family and I enjoyed every bit of the stay a few highlights for us was suga delivering water and rock candy to our room my oldest kid rave about suga the entire stay the room were extremely clean the king size bed was comfortable and now I think my wife and I will have to buy us one for our room apparently that’s what we’ve been missing lol
The hotel is literally near everything and walking where ever we wanted to go was not a hassle we were close to the parade route and the was so convenient because the restrooms were close enough. Now let’s talk about the bar Yaya & Roy made drinks for us that were so good and when I say good it feels like an understatement
Breakfast was light and great enough to hold you over till lunch Shanna did a great job with presentation and keeping up with the pastry’s & last and definitely not least the tacos and fries were off the chain they were so good in fact the cook (Jazz) and I started singing after I compliment her on such a great job what I can say is every Mardi Gras we will be back because everyone at the mercantile felt like an extension of family Thanks Mercantile for making me and my family feel at home

This was a hidden gem. Away from the noise, but great location in proximity of the convention center and Outlets. Family friendly. Quiet rooms with just enough space. I loved the old fashioned record players that added just a small touch of that NO feel to the rooms... and Sugar the housekeeping robot was also an unexpected little surprise. If you find yourself at the bar, try the bourbon wings and peach moscato - Yum! If you want to enjoy time out on the town, it's within walking distance to most places.

I'd definitely recommend putting this spot on your list of great places to stay while in NOLA.

If you have to park a car, do not stay here. It is $45 and not even for a full 24 hours. The other hotels in the area are $30ish. It left a bad taste in my mouth when I was checking out and they wouldn’t allow us to stay parked a few hours past our check out without paying more.

I paid $90 for a 35 hour stay.

The rest of the hotel was great. We had a big room with a separate sleeping area and living area. It was clean and in a really good location close to everything. We walked to the aquarium, harrah’s , Willa Jeans all in 10 mins or less! The walls and windows in the room are thin so you will hear street noise.

I would recommend this place to anyone as long as you are not bringing your car. Really disappointing end to our trip with the valet. I would contract another vendor Mercantile. They are ruining your ratings.
