From the unwelcoming dark entrance area to the dirty rooms and staff trying to force us to order food in order be able to sit and have a cocktail, we were very underwhelmed with this hotel. In our room we found dirty socks in the...More

We travel to NOLA for business regularly and have had the luxury to stay at many different hotels and this one won our hearts. So much so that we stayed an extra night just to get more time here. Alexis at the front desk is...More

What a cute retreat in the middle of the French Quarter. This has a bit of a different feel from the larger W hotels I have stayed at, but it certainly delivered. Modern and trendy in style yet customer service is great. Seems a bit...More

French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living
lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty
Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port
of call for folks in search of a good time and a great
story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs
across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied
around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively
well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the

I am pretty loyal to the SPG brands and usually know what to expect at a W. Rooms will be smaller with sparse/modern decorations, lighting may be dim, and the sounds of night-life may make it into the rooms. This is all fine. However, I am concerned about the large number of negative reviews over the last 60-90 days for this W. Even the good reviews are mixed in many cases (e.g. one 4-star review includes the note: "cabinet door that opened to the mini-fridge would not stay closed, closet handle fell off, clock didn’t work well". At least 2 different sets of photos appeared to show stained mattresses, cracked paint, etc. This is not OK for a full-price, full-service hotel. Are my concerns valid? Should I just cancel and stay at at a budget SPG property, like the Moxy or Aloft, which are both a few blocks away? This was not supposed to be a low-budget trip, but least those properties will be clean.
