The Ritz-Carlton, New Orleans charms guests with its lively atmosphere, boasting live jazz and elegant decor, while being ideally situated for exploring the French Quarter. However, opinions on value and service are split, with some visitors feeling let down by the high costs and lack of expected luxury service. Room experiences vary, with concerns about outdated decor and maintenance, but others find solace in the comfort of the renovated spaces.
Amenities, including a spa and club lounge, are generally appreciated, though some improvements are suggested. Cleanliness is well-regarded, ensuring a polished stay.

Detailed Reviews
Located in the most interesting section of downtown New Orleans this hotel offers a very good and generous Club deal including breakfast and fine cuisine several times a day. Room size, bed comfort and equipments are 5 star standard. Housekeeping is regular and efficient, reception and Club personnel are friendly and unflinchingly attentive. A great base for Mardi Gras aficionados.

We stayed at the Ritz Carlton for three nights between Christmas and New Years and it was lovely. The location is really great close to all but not smack in the middle of the craziness of the French Quarter and Bourbon street. We walked everywhere (almost) from the Ritz. We stayed in one of the renovated rooms and it was well done. I particularly want to give a shout out to Karen from the concierge desk who helped me with tour reservations and restaurant reservations all prior to arriving in New Orleans. I am platinum Marriott and knew that the Ritz Carlton does not include breakfast for its platinum members so I was not surprised. I was welcomed as a platinum member when I checked in. I used the gym while I was there and thought the facilities were nice. We did not eat at the hotel, so many options nearby, and as I said the concierge sent me a list of restaurants to consider. We got a drink at the bar one night but ended up taking it to our room as it was just too crazy full of people to stay and listen to the music, unfortunately. If I had any negatives, it would be nice to have a free coffee station rather than a pay for a cup of coffee in the morning at the coffee cart, and also we got turn down service one night but not the other two which was strange. All in all though it was a great experience and I would stay there again!

This was my second time staying at this hotel. Location is quite excellent, and the live music during many evenings is definitely an attractive feature, particularly in the current environment with the COVID restrictions. Staff was excellent. The hotel itself emanates a luxurious ambiance across the board, though it also feels somewhat run down at times (albeit quite clean). Housekeeping is responsive. Room service is absurdly expensive, so we didn't bother trying their food, especially since there are so many great culinary options within walking distance. All in all, I'd recommend it.

Service? Great. Room? Nice. Bar service? Great. Andrew and Byron were very attentive as was Christina in the restaurant. Tracy served us the shrimp and grits on night 1- both were wonderful.
Also, the gift shop went way above and had sunscreen brought up for me from the spa since it is closed for remodeling.
But, things were different in the restaurant. Someone (F&B manager ?) didn’t anticipate the occupancy rate or something. Only one server was scheduled on a day there should have been two, they were completely out of some wines and the salad with “seasonal fruit” was just dried dates. Sorry, but dried dates are not seasonal. When I asked where the fruit was, she brought me more dates. The poor server was only doing what she could with what she was given.
Just an FYI- The biscuit for the eggs Benedict is obviously grilled on the griddle where all of the other buttery things are cooked so it absorbed the flavor of other foods and tasted fried. Blah. Oh, the Eggs Benedict also comes with…. Nothing. Order the potatoes though. They are so good !
We stayed in a room that was remodeled. Rooms look great. But the a/c failed at one point and the room became so humid I felt like we were camping in the mountains in Central America. As a result, our clothes became very damp and cold. They never did dry out. Engineering was called and it was fixed but it happened again just before we left and by then I didn’t want to deal with it anymore.
Valet is a great service but to have your car audio changed to music BLARING (who even listens to the radio any more ?) every time you have the car pulled up is annoying. Suggestion? Stop messing with the audio in guests cars. Also, before check out, we had our car pulled up and it was left in the drive blocking passage for other vehicles. The valet, who had the keys, was nowhere to be found. We stood there for a few minutes wondering where he was and how to leave for our flight.
I gave it a 4 because the Ritz is the best place to stay and I understand it will take time to get back into a groove.

I have stayed in many hotels in New Orleans, but this was my best experience yet. From the moment I arrived I was met by a very friendly and helpful valet team. The front desk personnel were warm and accommodating. We arrived around 10am, so our room was not ready yet. The staff held our luggage until our room was ready while we went to eat brunch. Around 12 our room was ready, and we were given a room on the 15th floor overlooking Canal Street. I had asked for a quiet room and this room definitely was quiet. I heard no other guests around me. I was very impressed by the cleaniness of the room and all the hotel. The decor in the room and throughout the hotel was exquisite. I loved the little details that were supplied for the guests in my room-shaving kit, dental kit, comb, lighted make-up mirror, nail file, and numberous bath and hair products. There was an extra pillow, robe, and blanket in the closet. My husband must sleep elevated, so I called the desk for more pillows and our TV remote was not working. Within 5 minutes the techinican was at our door with a new remote, and a few minutes later our pillows arrived. This hotel goes out of their way to provide excellent customer service. The room was stocked with liquor, wine, water, and candy. The refrigerator had chilled wine and champagne ready for us as soon as we arrived. They even have a vending machince that holds only champagne in the lobby!!
We ate breakfast downstairs in the Davenport Lounge. The room was filled with chandeliers and antiques and Frank Sinatra was singing quietly creating a spendid mood. It was a beautiful setting for a delightful meal. (M Bistro was closed due to COVID restrictions.) The staff was so friendly and attentive. The food was excellent and presented eloquently. Latera was the best server. She went out of her way to make sure we had an excellent breakfast. The only cons I noticed: There were no wine glasses in our room which was a disappointment. I did notice stains on our carpet which should have been cleaned before we came. Otherwise this was an excellent stay and we will return.

Having stayed at various RC hotels over the years, we picked this for a much anticipated trip to NOLA. Location is great, overlooking Canal Street (with a streetcar stop almost immediately outside the entrance) and right on the edge of The French Quarter.
Booked through American Express so breakfast, free wifi and late checkout were guaranteed (as was room upgrades if available but dream on!)
Check in was efficient but not very friendly. The room was clean and there was a nice surprise of sparkling wine, macaroons and chocolate dipped strawberries for us!
Housekeeping were good with in-room tea and coffee and toiletries replenished daily.
Breakfasts were great. A special Thank You to Janet who is the best omelette chef I've ever met. We looked forward to seeing her everyday and often had eggs even when we didn't feel like it just to be able to chat to her! Also Oreathe our server who knew just when to refill the coffee.
The gym was good with separate weights and cardio rooms but PLEASE turn the a/c up. It was always so hot in the weights room! The usual coffee/newspaper station in the lobby was also very welcome for a post-workout, pre-breakfast beverage.
Checkout was efficient, if not very friendly again.
If we return, we'd probably try the new Four Seasons at the bottom end of Canal Street but return for at least one breakfast if Janet is still there!

The hard product at this property is excellent. It’s beautiful and newly renovated - I loved the color scheme and overall design. Soft product is also largely good but some front desk staff are not as good as the others.
Nice Ambassador level upgrade to a suite which I adored and slept well in. Despite overlooking Canal Street it was surprisingly quiet. However I was not permitted to pay for an upgrade to the lounge due to Covid. Had this been a legitimate concern I could understand it however given how hemmed in and close the seating was at the courtyard wedding ceremony the hotel hosted while I was there, it would seem they pick and choose when they care about social distancing. Also given they were still trying to sell rooms with executive lounge access for the night I was there, the rationale for saying no to me seems flimsy and disingenuous at best.
Spa: it’s about to undergo renovation. I thought the prices were in line with spas at luxury hotels in the US and I enjoyed my facial and massage there.
Breakfast was a highlight of the stay - whoever is in charge of customer service and/or hiring of these staff members should be utilized by the front desk team to get a fully gracious team. The food was delicious and the ladies who looked after me were attentive and proactive as well as being gracious.
I did think it nickel and dining to charge for use of the business center. Seriously who does that?
Largely a good experience and recommended.

How is this hotel not in the top five in the city? Service and facilities could not have been better. Live jazz on the weekends made this a truly memorable stay. From Bubba the doorman to MJ at the desk, bartenders and housekeepers all worked in concert to create a sanctuary within the bustling City.

My husband and I are locals and really haven't traveled since the COVID lockdowns back in March. We wanted to have a weekend getaway for our anniversary, but didn't feel comfortable going out of town just yet. So, we decided on a staycation at the Ritz! We were initially still kind of worried about COVID, but the Ritz made us feel extremely safe and was taking all the necessary precautions.. Everyone was wearing masks, wipes were available in the lobby and by the elevators, and only 2 people were allowed in the elevator at a time. Barely anyone was in the lobby, and even in the lounge (where we enjoyed lunch), everyone who was there was spread out and socially distanced. The hotel staff was wonderful, as always, and made us feel right at home. We missed being able to relax in the library or the courtyard, but understand why those options weren't available at the time. The only thing I would change is that room service was only available until 10pm. By the time we left on Sunday, we felt so rejuvenated and didn't want to leave!

I probably got allotted a club room facing ugly looking roof of some part of the hotel. Mind you, I booked a club room. Now, I can't blame the hotel for not getting an upgrade, because it may not be available, assuming everything at face value. Despite calling the hotel twice requesting for a better room (not an upgrade) that has a street facing window or balcony, they didn't accommodate. I am not happy at all,but I am checking out tomorrow, so not worth agonizing about.....

No, parking was $50 per day for valet.
There is a small indoor pool. It's nice but small.
Yes, the hotel is at the edge of the French Quarter, and is very close to so much.
Enjoy!
Hunt
I would call the hotel.
At this point, weather is very cold in New Orleans, plus local openings change daily.
Best of luck,
