We can't stay in the French Quarter area itself as we had to pay for overnight parking which was expensive, but this provides a good alternative. Contrary to many of the advises I've seen, bringing a car in the French Quarter and paying for parking vs doing uber is less costly (provided you aren't drinking). So, we mostly parked at the French Market which is the least expensive parking, or at the street parking where it is free after 7pm.

The hotel itself has the New Orleans charm, accentuated by the decors. For the price we paid it was well worth it, and the buffet breakfast is a good start, though not much but already a good plus given the price. They provide covered and free parking - which was our main concern. The room was a good size and clean for us, and hey offer a microwave and ref. The only downside i can see is they don't have any in room safe, but we just didn't allow room service so nobody came in. It was quiet enough for us - maybe because we were located at the end of the corridor, but still it wasn't a long walk from the elevator. Good experience overall

Great base of operations to explore the area. We selected Super 8 for the location, coffee and grab-n-go breakfast, and the free parking. We got more than just that! The parking was covered and in a gated area, Angela was awesome (she suggested and reserved us a Swamp Tour experience that we really enjoyed), and the location was terrific for what we wanted to do. Initially we were concerned that we might hear highway noise in the room, but that was not the case. The hotel was clean and comfortable, and the workers were all masked, It was a great value and a good experience for us!

We previously stayed here 1 night each visit in 2016, 2017, 2018 before leaving on a cruise. Then covid happened and we did not return till February 2022. The hotel is currently working on upgrades and we were pleasantly surprised that not only did we have the same GREAT staff, clean room, and good location but a few improvements in the hotel and the area already that we noticed. We do not go out at night as we drive a long way to get there and then just rest and leave in the morning so can not tell you about "after hours" or available fun events but can tell you we have always had a quiet, normal hotel sounds room and I have had friends, my child, and other children stay here via our recommendation with no issues as well. They do offer something where you can park there for your cruise but we have never utilized that as we like to park right at the terminal to get back home faster with no shuttles.

~~~ Right now - February 2022 pool & exercise room is closed & breakfast is "grab and go" that includes a great little snack bag with a few treats, water & coffee. Really too cold for the pool but if the exercise room &/or a sit-down breakfast matters to you then contact them to get any updates. FOR US, none of that mattered and it was nice to "grab & go" so not so much we "didn't like" it but with covid and construction I thought I would mention.
I will admit hotel has a smell from being an older building in a humid climate. They do a good job of keeping everything clean and I could obviously smell air freshener. The room was spacious and clean the refrigerator and air conditioner work very well. I sleep better cold and even took a nap after walking 5 miles outside in the humid august weather.
My family and I stayed at the Super 8 prior to a cruise and it was a nice little hotel. The room was super clean and staff was really nice. The location is great only about a 10 minute drive to the French Quarter and down town area. The only issues that we had were the walls are paper thin and you can hear everyone in the other rooms. Also, at breakfast there should be some type of protein to eat. Other than those two issues the stay was fantastic. I would highly recommend the Super 8 to anyone looking for a nice place to stay in New Orleans!!!!
This property just out side downtown New Orleans had easy access to the Big Easy without the crushing day to day parking charges. As an older property, the elevator was inoperable. It did have gated parking at night. The facility in general was clean as was the room I stayed in. If in the area, I'd stay here again.
The front desk staff were friendly. This is an older hotel. The bathroom looked like it's been updated so it was clean. The bed was comfortable. There was a strong cleaning scent in the room probably to mask the stale cigarette smell in the hallways. I did say it's an older hotel. The area around the hotel is not the nicest but felt safe at the hotel.
First of all the room was very nice indeed. Clean and nice decor. But I would never stay here again. Is is basically a red light district. There are pimps and their "employees" all up and down the street. I was getting gas right after getting off the exit and noticed all the ladies exiting the gas station a lot talking to people in vehicles. I did not pay no mind at first because since Nashville were I am from cleaned mos of the streets up I became unaccustomed to it. But when they were asking "you want company for the night?" I knew what was up. When we arrived at the hotel there is a locked gate between the front desk and where the rooms are, thank goodness. The clerk was kind of rude and made my wife who was driving pull all the way up to the front of the doors so they could see in the car. I guess it is understandable considering they want to keep that out of their hotel, but nonetheless she was rude about it. I do no know the other girl in the lobby was messing with us or not but she asked the clerk is the lady whose husband was killed walking to the store had come back for his stuff! Since I used rewards and we had already driven 600 miles I decided we would be safe enough behind the locked gate. At the room I went down to the lobby for ice and she said we were not allowed to come to lobby?! Nothing eventful happened after that but as I said I will never go to this hotel again when I am in NO.
Very roomy accommodations. Very helpful front desk people. Clean, quiet comfy. I would just like to see different breakfasts and a bit more leniency with soap, shampoo etc.
In general would definitely go back again
This is a great budget hotel with free parking. The rooms are updated, comfy, have a tv and fridge. The continental breakfast is free and there is a good variety of food to choose from. The pool is clean and spacious. 24 hr security in the parking lot is a plus.
To answer my own question, yes they do. I asked when I got there and they allow it and you can take a shuttle to cruise port for $10 a person. Ignore previous answer from someone else.
Yes, the bus stop is right in front of the hotel. We rode the bus to city center then the street cars into the Quarter. Using the "RTA gomobile" app to pre-buy the bus and streetcar tickets was a big help. (Apologies I'm a little slow on getting back to your question.)
The Hampton Inn is in the Garden district and the Super 8 is in East NOLA. It's about 15-29 minutes away, but that assumes you know where you're going and are familiar with the city. The traffic can be a pain getting around unless you know you're way around. Also, it depends on your mode of transportation. Might be better to go on AirBnB and see if you can find an apartment closer to her for however long you're staying.
