Management & Staff ruins this hotel. Corporate & regular travelers, please do not stay here. Better in the area. Worst hotel front desk I’ve experience in a while. The story is long so I’ll spare you but just don’t do it.

Hotel's Favorite
Great customer service, rooms were super clean and room service was attentive to everything, the location is also perfect for going and coming to Manhattan. Close enough to downtown Brooklyn as well, would 100% recommend for all travelers

The room size was good and clean. It was in Brooklyn in a good location bit out of the traffic areas. The staff was GREAT, they tried to help us as much as they could especially Jalissa and Campbell. Will definitely book this hotel again.

If you’re looking for a “destination” hotel where the experience of it is a major part of your trip, this probably isn’t it. If, however, you’re looking for someplace clean, comfortable, convenient, and relatively affordable while you run around to a bunch of different neighborhoods, it’s perfect. The beds were comfy, the temperature controls worked (rarer than you’d think in NYC), the shower pressure was great and there was plenty of hot water, and we had no major noise issues (again, rarer than you’d think in NYC). The staff was super friendly; we had a great conversation with Laurie and Asia in our way out, and they held onto our luggage for us while we went about our morning on our departure day, which was incredibly helpful (no one wants to take their suitcase to brunch!). We also had a very positive experience as an openly queer couple, which, while I wish it was the norm, is far from a given. The hotel is about a 10 minute walk from the majority of major subway lines, so you can get to a ton of places in Manhattan and Brooklyn without having to transfer, which is great if you haven’t spent much time in the area or if you just hate spending chunks of your trip waiting for yet another train. We’ll definitely stay here again when we want some quality Brooklyn time!

I would give 0 star if it was possible. Avoid this hotel, they charged us 420$ fees without explanation and most of them were charged after check-out. During check-in they ask for a credit card which apparently didn't work, so we gave a second one. At the end both cards were charged. We went to the counter to ask for an explanation. The answer was that it was only a test. Afterwards they modified the charge from 0.90$ to 47$ on one card and added 6 charges on the second card. At the end, 420$ were stolen. Everything happened after we left. So no possibility to complain directly. Without mentioning that the staff was not friendly and helpful at all.

The hotel is located within walking distance from the subway stations. However there's no access to any kind of stores close by. On the day of checkout I requested for a extension and the manager sternly replied saying he can let us stay only till noon. At 12:03 PM or so I get a call from the front desk employee who shouted at me that it's time to check out! I have not experienced this at any of the hotels I have stayed at.

Thank you for your feedback. We apologize for the inconveniences you dealt with regarding a request for a late check out. As our normal check out time is 11:00AM, we try to accommodate as many guests as possible to extend the departure time. In no way do we condone or encourage anyone in the Tillary to come across as anything less than a very high level of service, and sincerely apologize if you as a guest of the Tillary felt slighted in any way.

To add some context my husband and I were traveling from Salem to NYC for a day with our special needs dog (he has diabetes and is blind due to this). I called the hotel at 7am prior to leaving our Airbnb in Salem to confirm that we could get early check in. I was told yes and to just let the person at the desk know and they would charge us accordingly once we got there. This was Saturday April 29th. We arrived at around 11am and were looking forward to getting in the room and getting our dog settled after being in the car for 4 hours. When my husband went to check us in he was told that the hotel did not offer early check in. He explained how I had called earlier and how we had a special needs dog. The woman at the front desk was not helpful at all in this situation. My husband came back to the car and we proceeded to find another hotel that would allow early check in and were prepared to just burn the money we had spent for the room at The Tillary. My husband went back in to let the front desk woman know that we had found another option and that we would not be staying at The Tillary. Magically at that point early check in was offered. I found this in particular extremely frustrating. However we proceeded to get our things out and up to our room since we didn’t want to wait another minute if we could help it. On a positive note the only saving grace for this place was that the valet team member named Asia was extremely helpful and kind! She was helpful in offering places where our dog would feel comfortable going potty as well as a quick food spot. She got all of our things to and from the room as well as loading everything in our car the next morning, and then once we were ready to leave brought our car up. She absolutely deserves a raise since she was the only person willing to go out of their way to help us. The only reason we may even consider staying here again is due to Asia and her kindness. The room itself wasn’t the cleanest (floors were dusty) and due to the early check in accommodation we ended up with two twin beds instead of a king. We decided just to deal with that and not bother trying to switch rooms at regular check in time since we had such difficulty with the early check in.

Thank you for your feedback. We greatly appreciate you reaching out to us to inform us issues that you had to incur. We greatly apologize for the miscommunication regarding the early check- in. We are very sensitive to all our guests needs, especially in this case regarding your dog. We try our best to accommodate early check-ins, especially when such cases are time sensitive. Although we have a check-in time at 3:00 PM and check out time at 11:00AM, we do try to accept early check as much as possible. Again, we apologize for any inconvenience. We are happy to heart that our team member was able to assist you once you were able to get your room.

Dirty room with no hot water. Don’t trust a word that the manger Russ says. After letting him know that even the phone in my room was dirty (see pics) he promised a discount on the one night stay (I checked out early). After calling SEVERAL times and leaving a voicemail with my invoice with the room number that I stayed in I have yet to receive a call back. I have since had to file a complaint with my credit card company.
