Well our stay in this hotel didn't start too well as the man that checked us in (who I have to say was EXTREMELY handsome and well turned out!) was one of the rudest people I have ever been checked in by. I was complaining about him to my wife in the lift and another guy agreed that he was really rude. It makes you wonder why people like that go into the hospitality industry! Our room was SO disappointing as it was just a bit grubby, tired and old and whoever took the photos of the hotel was a genius as the rooms looked really modern and big which they absolutely weren't! I have to say the bathroom was absolutely beautiful though with lovely products and our room and bathroom were beautifully clean and got serviced every day which I really appreciated. We could also just about see Liberty from our room which was just AMAZING but I wouldn't want to stay there again until it is fully refurbished. Also it seemed to be an actual residence to alot of students and young families which I found really weird as I'm pretty sure that in the UK (where I'm from) you can't have people actually living in a hotel so I found that a bit odd. I have to add though that the location was really useful as it was so near the subway and all the other ladies who were on reception (I refused to go back to grumpy guy if he was on!) were absolutely wonderful, lovely, helpful and professional and actually could not be faulted. It's just a shame our first impression was marred by somebody so unfriendly.

I’ve never written a review for a hotel room. But this stay was so upsetting I had to write a review. I brought the room to watch a ppv with friends, something I do all the time. This is the only hotel that has given me problems for noise complaints. At 10pm we were threatened to getting kicked out of the room without a refund because of noise, when we had an extra day left on our stay. My friend also got accused of stealing by a man at the front desk when he didn’t steal anything. It ruined our experience of even enjoying the show and overall I never plan to go there again and forsure don’t suggest it if you plan to watch a ppv or have a game night.

First let me say this is the first review I have ever left for any hotel property.  I am a Platinum customer of Holiday Inn.  I had 2 of the worse nights I have ever had at 300 Schermerhorn St. Brooklyn Holiday Inn.   I am a business traveler, and this area has a decent walkability, and is central to my clients.  This hotel has cultural behavioral issues, and maybe shouldn't be in the hospitality business. I was there 2 consecutive nights.  The first night I had a connecting room, and the other guest where extremely loud and threatening each other.  There were children present and up until 11:30, they were "F" this and that at the top of their lungs.  If that weren't bad enough, they woke me up when they picked it up at 5:15 the next morning.  I prepared myself for work and left, stopping at the front desk I asked for another room, which they agreed to. When I returned to the hotel they gave me another room on a different floor.  I vacated my room and returned the old room's key to the front desk.  Tired from not getting much rest the previous night I went to bed at 8:30pm.  At 10pm I was awakened to pounding on my door.  I was in a deep sleep, so they must of been pounding for awhile.  I was walking to the door in my underwear when the front desk clerk (Ashley) opened my door with what I assume was "her muscle" (2 gentlemen) behind her in the hallway.  She greeted me with "what are you doing in this room?" I have a reservation I responded.  I explained the above.  I was a little shaken and got another bad night's sleep.  At one point I walked down to the front desk to ask how this could have happened.  At the door there was no apology, just a sad excuse of "wellness check".   So when considering this property:  What kind of guest do they have that they have this procedure?  How did they know I was in the room in the first place?  Why wouldn't they call on the phone, rather burst into the room?  Why didn't they address the guest issue from the previous night who were clearly out of hand? If you read the previous reviews you see this isn't the cleanest place, the valet service leaves a lot to be desired, there is issues with the restaurant.  All of these are consistent issues.  If you review the previous reviews you will see "canned" form letter type responses.  I don't really see any issues addressed. Again, this place is NOT very well managed, and maybe corporate should address this hotel wide attitude. I hope this place gets better, but I will stay away for now.

Lots of downside, probably wouldn't return We stayed here for one night for a concert in Brooklyn. I'm not sure I'd return. We've stayed in other hotels in the area that are far better, but we were trying to save money here. Pros -- Rooms are really quiet. Could not hear neighbors from within the room, but out in the hall they were very loud, so there's some good soundproofing. -- Valet parking is really convenient. It's in the same building and you text the valet when you need your car and come and go as you want. --Good location for subway and breakfast (Black Seed Bagel on the corner of Schermerhorn is excellent!) Cons -- While our room did not smell of marijuana, we were around a few other guests who absolutely reeked of it. Not sure what it is about this hotel that attracts that, but we had to sign a strict no-smoking policy when we checked in. --The marijuana smell in elevator and the sort of dingy look of the room made us feel it's a bit unclean. Hotel could use a freshen up. -- Toilet did not flush. We called for assistance and none came, so we kept going to the lobby toilet. Only one night stay so only minimally inconvenient but would have been a pain if it went on. --Rooms are really small, as expected in NYC area but ours (two beds) was really small. Virtually no counter space in bathroom. More downside than upside, not worth revisiting.

Honestly this has been the worst stay at any hotel chain and from here on out I will never stay with IHG ever again. The holiday inn downtown Brooklyn was the worst! Day one : not enough towels and no clean sheets there was blood on the sheets and other things when we turned down our bed. Day two: we left at 9 am and returns to our room at 10 pm no housekeeping all day long! We never received any housekeeping all day!! I called downstairs and was told “ sorry we had over 100 arrivals today so we didn’t have enough housekeeping to get to it” this is ridiculous!! Thank you Shannon

Besides a slower than necessary check in process, good experience overall. Good location to venture into Manhattan and the Carroll Gardens neighborhood. Rooms were basic but enough comfort. Coffee kcups in room were actually flavorful and great bagel place one block away l

Staff is friendly and helpful. Parking was valet with in and out privileges. You text a number when you need your car out. $45 per night for minivan. $35 for regular car. Room is small but has keurig coffeemaker, mini fridge, microwave, iron and hair dryer. Beds are comfortable. Room was quiet. We were on the 12th floor. Subway is very close. About a 3 minute walk. Only downside was a very strong Marijuana smell in the room. It was on and off but very evident when we came in from being out all day. I prefer that to cigarette smoke so it wasn't really a problem for me but if you're sensitive it would. Would stay again if we returned to NYC.

There were issues not typical of Holiday Inn. The hotel was clean and the staff were all friendly and helpful. But the one day of our trip we asked to have the room clean, we purposely left the entire day so it could be cleaned and it still wasn’t clean even after asking the front desk- they finally got to it around 5:00 after we came back but by then we had run out of toilet paper and had no clean towels to take a shower before going out again. The water pressure in the shower was amazing! Better than we’ve ever had at a hotel. But, the shower head didn’t tilt at all so being a small shower, forget about not washing your hair if you didn’t want to because there’s no way to avoid getting soaked. The soap was tiny!!! Have never seen such small soap at a hotel. And there’s no hand towel- there are only bath towels, or wash cloths to dry your hands which we found odd. The bed was terrible- big indentations on both sides which did not make for good sleeping. It’s time to replace the beds. While there’s no smoking in the hotel, apparently marijuana doesn’t apply- the entire floor reeked of pot (the skunky kind not the good kind!) the entire time we were there. The lobby was nice and has an atrium and restaurant, both good places to work if need be. The hotel is in a good location, lots of restaurants and shops close by and within walking distance of the subway. Overall the hotel was meh- probably wouldn’t stay here again.
