The Lodge Red Hook earns praise for its amenities, notably its quality breakfast and its prime location near the port and public transit, making it a hit with travelers. While the service is generally lauded for its friendliness and helpfulness, there are occasional mentions of service lapses. Guests find the hotel to be a good value, despite some concerns over extra fees.
The rooms are hailed for their cleanliness and comfort, despite their size and rare cleanliness oversights. The hotel's atmosphere and cleanliness receive repeated commendations, and its proximity to Brooklyn waterfront attractions is a popular perk for guests.

Nice, clean hotel. We stayed 2 nights before heading on a cruise on QM2 so the hotel is really conveniently located to the cruise terminal (about 10 minute walk to the terminal); Gabriella was our room attendant, assigned to clean our room - cleaned to perfection (Thank U)!! Reception staff really great, with warm welcome. Good Breakfast!

Definitely satisfactory value for money. About 1 hour by taxi from JFK Airport ($90), the hotel is in a quiet area (few amenities nearby) and a 12-minute walk from the subway. The reception is basic with very friendly staff. The room (two double beds) is the right size for 4 people with small luggage. Clean room and clean towels every day + two bottles of water. Breakfast is good. Recommended hotel for a holiday in New York

Second time we stayed at The Lodge Red Hook because we like its good location to Brooklyn water front attractions and its good value for money. Its a new clean hotel with facilities and amenities we need for a couples weekend in Brooklyn.
It would be nice to have a room safe, however its in a safe neighborhood beside a fire house. Front desk staff very helpful.

My husband and I were very happy on our first visit to NYC. During our stay we were comfortable, room was good (despite the noise of toilet permanently running). However after we checked out they charged us $60 for no reason. When calling them on several occasions, their service was unfortunately bad, since Front Desk only informed that the charge was the deposit and that it would be released at any time.
After 12 days, today I received an answer that the charge had been for "taking all the towels from the room", which is not true and took us by surprise. The towels were very stiff and we didn't like them, there was no reason to take them with us. Plus there was no way they would have fit in our suitcase after the shopping we did in NYC 😅 it's not acceptable to pay for something we didn't take from the room. They are not willing to refund, even for the lack of correct and early explanation about this charge.
As a word of warning, take photos of all the towels you receive and leave in your room at the end of your stay so you don’t get invented charges.

This place really fit our needs. In a quiet, middle range place in Red Hook, Brooklyn. Our main needs were comfort, wifi, breakfast, proximity. We got all of that.
Staff were really nice and they felt homey. Especially Erica at the front. The night time staff were a bit young and not as experienced but they were still very nice.
Breakfast was a full breakfast with all the fixings and more, different special dishes everyday along with cereal, oatmeal, eggs, sausages, potatoes, juice, toast, bagels, etc.
Wifi was great (we are intl guests) although I would suggest to them considering how many intl guests are there, that they have an option for making local calls at least. The room phones didn't have that option, but the staff offered me to use their phone in the lobby.
The room was smallish, but it's a refurbished building and it's truly done well. Clean, smells good, paint and trimmings are good. Beds very comfy, housekeeping is good. The walls are thin though mind you we only noticed a couple times with a baby or someone talking as they leave their room.
Subway is a 10-15 minute walk, no hills. There's food and places to see nearby. Quiet area, safe.
Check in and check out was good, they responded to my messages thru booking.com.
The elevator was very slow but we were on 2nd floor and it only got busy during breakfast time so where we took the stairs.
Bathroom was very clean and comfortable.
We enjoyed our stay, thank you.

This hotel charges a made-up fee which they call "amenity fee" for a welcoming bottle of water in the room, WIFI and Breakfast. In my case, WIFI and Breakfast was included with my booking. However The Lodge Red Hook charged again at my check out. Because of their deceiving business practice, I wouldn't stay again.

We chose The Lodge hotel primarily for its location to the Brooklyn cruise terminal and consistent positive reviews. Two nights stay after transiting from JFK ($80 approx cab fare).
Hotel stay was comfortable and pleasant and we really appreciated the a/con as was very warm in NYC. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Overall a decent hotel for the cost.
The onsite included breakfast was a step up from the usual limited offers in US chain hotels but still has some considerable room for improvement. The breakfast room is on the lower floor, quite small and cramped if busy, which it was. There's a decent variety on offer but not well set out. We had some difficulty on the first morning with a couple of younger employees who seemed out of their depth and struggled with up keep of the food and facilities, was a bit messy. However the following morning ther was a marked improvement both in the general layout and management of the service. Possibly due to more experienced and trained staff. Possible the younger staff had not been trained or effectively mentored. In any event we still appreciated the included option.
Would have given a higher rating but for the breakfast issues.
Would recommend as a good option if using the cruise terminal.

Very well located hotel in red hook brooklyn. Not far from Brooklyn Bridge, Manhattan Bridge and Downtown. Bus number 61 runs every few minutes from a station just around the corner. There is a boat dock, which can also be reached in a few minutes on foot. You can take a small boat straight to Wall Street for $4. The nearest subway station is Carroll Street. This is also only a 10 minute walk away. The hotel room features a large and comfortable king size bed, a wardrobe with enough coat hooks, a fairly large fridge, a desk and a spacious bathroom with hairdryer. Overall a very spacious and above all clean hotel. The breakfast buffet was the highlight every morning and a perfect start to the day. Both typical American food but also healthy food and fresh fruit. Very nice and attentive staff both at breakfast and reception. You can store your suitcases in a luggage compartment for free on the day of departure if you only have a later flight. This was also very nice and helpful for us. All in all a very nice and pleasant stay. Can only recommend to anyone and I would book again immediately. I would also award 5 stars but unfortunately I missed a safe for valuables and rooms were a bit too poorly insulated for that. So it's quiet at night but in the morning you already notice when people walk across the hall.

my room and the lobby were both reasonably clean and comfortable with very friendly staff.
the shower/bath was a bit dirty (hair found on the side of the tub and prints on stainless steel knobs/hardware, but nothing majorly off-putting) and the window wouldn’t close once opened. maintenance service was graciously offered for the window when i brought it up, but my stay was so short i refused the offer.
the only other con i can point out is the curtain length. i stayed on floor C and there was a gap between the curtain and the windowsill that allowed light into the room. maybe this design choice is specific to floor C or the specific room i was staying in, but it may be worth amending as it allowed in enough light to disturb my sleep and might do the same for other guests.
overall excellent location with reasonable rates. car recommended but not necessary at all, there is easy access to public trans even for a first-time visitor to nyc.
i would love to stay here again and would feel confident suggesting the hotel to others.

Clean, good breakfast buffet, nice staff. Ideally located if you want to start a cruise from Brooklyn Cruise Terminal. The hotel is only a 5-10 minute walk from the terminal. The Red Hook neighborhood offers a great atmosphere, especially in the late afternoon and early evening. The room rate per night is certainly a bit high for solo travelers, but normal for NewYork and this location. From 2 people the price is good, from 3 people relatively cheap. There is probably no subway station in Red Hook, but bus connections that allow a trip into the city. There is also a New York Ferry pier at the Cruise Terminal. A taxi ride from JFK takes about 1 h and costs about 120 USD including tips. The ride is already an experience.
