Wonderful hotel in a great area, clean and stylish - great bars nearby and extremely easy to get onto Manhattan - super staff especially Kadidja who massively assisted us with a medical issue by locating a doctor - we are so grateful

The hotel rooms are great. The issue is their change fee. I had a family event cancel so I no longer needed the room for June 2023. I asked if I could move the reservation to the following month as I am a repeat customer and way not enjoy Brooklyn. The hotel wanted to charge me 300+ for the change fee. Expedia did ask them to waive the fee and the hotel refused. I had stayed at the hotel every New Years (3 years) before covid restrictions (Dec 2022) and for at least one summer time visit. I am disappointed and I will not stay again. It's pure greed and not good customer service.

My experience at the Box House Hotel during check in was amazing with John. I arrived very early, John was so pleasant and accommodating, with the most warm smile and pleasant personality that made me feel very comfortable and safe. John could tell that i was extremely tired and went out of his way to assist me to my room, to make assure my 3 day stay got off to an excellent start. My only suggestion is that Google be included to the television guide so that guests can listen to jazz, Christian music, and other music while relaxing or cooking in the room, at a fair volume level, of course. Nobody watches TV for an extended amount of time.

I was in New York on business, and the company put me up in the Box House. At first I was a little bummed not to be in Manhattan, but that notion was banished in short order. The hotel is situated on a quiet street near the Pulaski Bridge. My room was a 1 bedroom apartment with an efficiency kitchen and a balcony/deck looking toward Manhattan. The bed was super comfortable. I can't say enough about the staff, but they were exceptionally friendly and knowledgeable. There are several excellent restaurants (including a microbrewery) within a couple of blocks, as well as a grocery store. The hotel was within 5 minutes of the production facility where I was working. I would be remiss not to mention Dave from Dublin in the tavern in the lobby. I am an old hand with bars and cocktail culture, and let me tell you, he makes the best Old Fashioned I have ever had, including my own. He's friendly, fun, and made me feel not just appreciated, but like a friend. The only down side to my stay was the shower. It was small for me and the water temperature was a little hard to get just right. However, this charming, homey boutique hotel made me look forward to getting home every day. I look forward to visiting The Box House again soon!

Our hotel room was absolutely stunning! I came here for a work event, and we ended up getting a free upgrade. Our room came with one queen bed and another room with two twin beds. Our suite had a full kitchen, two couches, two living room chairs, and dining table with four chairs. I highly recommend this hotel! Kristina at the front desk was super kind!

Angelina was great! Helped us get an extra cot and gave us a bunch of extra blankets, pillows, sheets to make the beds more comfortable. Our bed was pretty hard and the pullout bed in the couch was extremely uncomfortable, felt like you’re sleeping directly on some springs. Once we had the extra pillows and blankets we were able to create more comfortable sleeping arrangements.

We stayed at the Box House in May for a wedding. The experience was awful. First, the wrong room was booked for us. When we spoke to the hotel their response was basically there is nothing we can do we are overbooked sorry we screwed up. At the time they offered me either a complete refund and find another hotel or take it. Upon checkout I explained the situation again regarding the wrong room. Even though I had written proof that the wrong room was booked, the person behind the front desk kept arguing with me that it was a screw up on my part. Fine, the room situation we dealt with, everyone screws up however the second issue was unacceptable. We checked in early because we had a wedding to attend. While we appreciated the early check-in, the shower did not work in our room. We called maintenance who came to fix the shower. After they "fixed it" it still didn't work. We called maintenance again but unfortunately didn't have time to wait around because we had to get to a wedding so the four of us had to shower in the gym shower. It didn't seem that the front desk cared too much at the time or when we checked out regarding the shower not working. This was completely unacceptable and unprofessional. Upon checkout when we mentioned again the shower issue to the front desk, the hotel did nothing for us except say that they will get to the bottom of this and offer us a free breakfast buffet. In the lobby I heard other individuals having issues with their reservations, wrong rooms and overbookings. This hotel really doesn't have their act together. It is a shame because the rooms are a great size for New York City but unfortunately their customer service is non-existent and they like to argue with their customers instead of actually fixing the issue. I will not be going back to this hotel nor recommending it to anyone.
