Detailed Reviews
Bare bones. Not much in the way of amenities. Even less due to covid. Some of the bonuses are cleanliness, location, comfortable beds, and free in room wifi. Room 1601 also had a nice view. The street in front is one way and with construction and 2 other hotels on the same street, traffic can get a bit clogged. The room had almost no decoration, was sterile and had no warmth or welcoming features. The double queen room was narrow but had a great sized bathroom. The location is an easy walk to restaurants(notable Xian famous foods), subway, and DUMBO. The price, and fact we were only in the room to sleep, made most of these shortcomings only minor inconveniences for us.

GENERAL:
This hotel was a pleasant surprise on our trip – good location, not too pricey and very clean. If (when) we return to NY, we will also be returning to this hotel.
LOCATION:
Right next to the subway station, next to the Fulton Mall – if you are OK with staying out of Manhattan, but want to get there regularly with the subway, this hotel has an excellent location.
The immediate surrounding of the hotel does look a bit beaten up, but it didn’t present any problem regarding safety. Currently there is a lot of construction going on around, but it didn’t really interfere with our stay.
ROOM:
Rooms are, as it is the habit in the NY, small. A bed, a bathroom, a closet, and… That is it. If you came to visit NY, this is enough, but if you came to reside in the room – it will not be enough. Bottom line: For spending the nights the room is big enough.
But be sure to try to get the room on a high floor. You get great view and bigger distance from the morning commotion on the street in front of the hotel.
BREAKFAST:
Hotel doesn’t offer breakfast on the premise, which is a setback. However, you can get a breakfast in hotel across the street, but we used the nice breakfast places in vicinity, which turned out to be a better experience.
SPECIAL WARNING for travelers from different time zones:
When we arrived to the hotel, we were unpleasantly surprised, when the front desk manager told us, that they have given the room away to somebody else and that they are fully booked. Hotel’s policy is to check the credit cards of the arriving guests in the morning. And as I was on the different continent at that time using it (you know, travel), the credit card was refused. Front desk tried the credit card just once, gave room to somebody else and left us to hang dry. Regardless of the fact that I called 2 times in advance to confirm our stay. Stuff tried really hard and got us a room in a hotel across the street for the night, but the magic was gone (and the comfort).
As management is reading these posts it could, instead of answering with the PR statements, revise their credit card checking policy. It is not fun to start your visit after 9 hours of flight with the message that you don’t have a room…

After many NYC vacations we finally decided to head to Brooklyn for our next trip. What a great decision and we cannot wait to head back! Hotel Indigo is in a great location with subway options all around you. Your trip into Manhattan is quick so if this is something you are worried about- don’t be! We did this trip with our 2 boys who are 5 and 3 and we had no issues. Room size is small but it’s NYC so unless you’re paying for those suites your rooms aren’t large. Again, traveling with small kids this wasn’t an issue. We had 2 queens and storage was plentiful and the bathroom was large.
Only negatives here which drop it from a 5 review. Customer service at the front desk is lackluster. Every encounter with the ladies working the front desk were short and of the attitude that you are bothering them. It was definitely a turn off. They complained off other guests after they checked in- as we sat at couch! Very, very unprofessional. Next complaint, we had a 4th floor room facing the building going up on Albee. They start construction at 6AM. The building is just getting started so this will be going on for some time and I am imagine getting worse. I asked for a room change and was again presented with a very rude attitude before being hung up on. I only cared because 6am came and my kids were up at the first sound of them working. White noise didn’t help cover any of the noise. As an adult, I didn’t care, I can sleep through it. If you had kids, you may be up early so be prepared.
Would I stay again? Yes. If I got a great deal and a room opposite side of building to avoid construction.

You will be treated rudely when you check in, you will not have hand soap in your room, you will not get fresh towels, you will not get clean sheets at any point during your stay.
Rooms are very small, bathroom is smaller than on a cruise ship. I would never stay at this hotel again.

The only good thing about this hotel was the front desk staff member who gave us a refund without any problems.
This place is disgustingly dirty, the sheets seem clean, but shine a light and you can see all the grime and mold. The floor was extremely dirty, we had hairs and dead bugs all over.
The place was used as a homeless shelter during COVID, and, according to them, they “deep cleaned it” but we’re certain that’s not true. Even the front desk area was dirty, smelled like cigarettes, same for the elevator and the hallways/rooms.
Terrible, terrible, DO NOT GO!

Great location surrounded by restaurants and lots of atmosphere. Expensive place but we used an Anniversary Night coupon with IHG. False advertising in that all web sites about this hotel boast of outdoor pool for guests. When I called to book the room, I asked about that pool and was informed it would be still open. However, the reality is that pool is not owned by the hotel, and is off limits to hotel guests on weekends. I learned this the day before arriving when I double checked before packing a swim suit. The manager offered my on check in a pool pass, but by then I had left my swim suit at home. This fancy hotel needs to stop false advertising about that outdoor pool. The room came with spacious modern bathroom. The night sleep repeated interrupted by late comers as the room has hard wood floors, there are large gaps all around the front door to the room, and the hall way carpet is simple and not cushy. Sounded like a college dorm hallway. Would not stay here if important for you to have a quiet night. Not for families hoping to let their children burn off energy in the off limits pool on weekends either. Clean room apart from stains on area rug.

I travel often to visit my family and while I could afford a more expensive option, I prefer to keep it simple. I would not think that 50 dollars could have made a difference, but it did. The nice pictures of their website is deceiving. It is unkept and dirty.
Our check in was met with a dark and unwelcoming foyer, with a young woman who slammed the phone down and was barely making eye contact until she felt she could trust me. After that, we were told that we could not see the rooms, because it was busy and sold out and that check in was not until 3 pm.
Upon returning for check in later, the clean bed was our goal; that was ok😅 The hallways however were dirty, with “stuff” on the floor and the room needed cleaning too, there was trash under the bed. The security latch is not in working condition, and neither is the coffee maker or the lights in the bathroom. We have to stay one more night, but I will never stay here again. Oh, and there was no hand soap or bath size towels.
Do not recommend this hotel.

This hotel is a disaster. The rooms are the smallest I've ever seen and I've stayed at hotels in Manhattan and all over Europe... There is no room anywhere to put your things down. The key machine was broken upon check in and I had to be escorted upstairs. In the room I found a fedora behind the extremely dusty TV... The furniture hasn't been dusted in MONTHS! Exposed wires everywhere. There were TWO ice buckets in the room but the hotel does not have an ice machine as explained to me by the front desk. The A/C did not work and the noise from outside is unbearble even from the 15th floor and the windows shut. I'm not sure who designed this hotel but it is NOT 3.5 stars and NOT an IHG worthy hotel. I read the reviews and gave it a shot but take my advice, DO NOT TRY IT! The DoubleTree Downtown Manhattan is a much better choice and is comparable in price.

We booked this hotel expecting something that resembled the other hotel indigo properties we've been to, but this hotel was no where near those. Most of the outlets and lighting in the room did not work, there was no soap in the bathroom and all of the furniture was horribly worn and shabby. There were stains on the walls and curtains and the bedding looked worn and old.
After spending a short time in the room we realized it was just too gross to stay in, so we found another hotel to move to. The front desk said they would have a manager refund us, but was unable to give us any kind of receipt or conformation of this.
I would not recommend that anyone stay here. There are other hotels in the same few blocks that are actually clean and have lights that work.

After an exhausting cross-country red-eye flight, nothing was more disgusting than taking a shower and finding a big clump of hair. The room was generally dilapidated: peeling wallpaper, broken bed lights, debris on the head board and window shade, mold in the grout/caulking in the bathroom. The security door lock was broken. The thermostat was broken leaving the room too hot to wear December weather clothes.
Hot tip: if you want soap, you are required to ask for it.

Hi kebickell, Thank you for your recent stay and for sharing your feedback. Although we have limited service hospitality, we strive to offer a seamless and relaxing stay. I'm sorry to learn that your stay was not as comfortable as it's supposed to be because of the hair found in the shower, mold in bathroom, room condition, broken lock and thermostat. I know that this can be upsetting especially when your trip was supposed to be a relaxing one. We take feedback seriously and would like to get more info to share this with the relevant teams. I sent you a separate email and hope you respond soon. Despite some of the services not meeting your expectations, I hope you choose IHG still on your future travels.
