I love this B&B it has a great Martha's Vineyard ambiance. Situated in the heart of fashionable Park Slope. The owner is lovable, wonderful and accommodating. The rooms are clean and very charming. Having the full use of the large kitchen is fantastic. There is also a beautiful backyard. It's within a 5 minute walk to a major subway hub at the Atlantic Terminal Mall. I plan to come back here again & again.

This is the third time I am staying at CBG guest house. Twice by myself and this time with my family. I love it there! It is a true community ambiance with a great and fascinating host! The place is extremely well located, in a neighborhood that is truly exciting when comes to restaurants, bars and shops! It has the Barclays´ center concerts, sports, Atlantic center shopping and so many subway lines just around the corner! The Grand Army Plaza Saturday farmers´ market is 10 mins walk up.

My husband and I live in Park Slope Brooklyn. Our apartment is too small for guests to stay so when my parents come to town they stay here every time. They have been coming for years. As other reviewers have said, this is not a fancy b&b. This is a true community guest house owned by a social justice activist and long time community member. She is flexible and kind and the rooms are clean and comfortable. Her garden and patio are gorgeous as well. If you are looking for a true Brooklyn experience, this is it!

First the good points: Great location in Park Slope neighborhood - close to shops restaurants subway and Prospect Park. You have full use of the kitchen. There is a nice backyard for your use and comfortable living area. I felt very comfortable and right at home during my stay. The owner and her family are lovely people and I really enjoyed getting to know them. The other guests were also great. That being said, beware the owner is also very spacey! My room got double booked twice during my 1 week visit, which I felt was unacceptable. If you are flexible she will make it work out. But if you are not flexible this place is not for you! Another huge negative was that there is virtually no soundproofing between the rooms. Even when others are being quiet you can hear every word being said in the next room. The best room is on the 1st floor. The rooms on the 2nd floor share the teeniest bathroom I've ever seen, and the shower is in the living room. Again, you must be of a certain mind to appreciate this! Also beware the middle room on the 2nd floor does not have windows. I would stay here again if it was half the price, just because I liked the hominess and people. But it was way overpriced at 130/night. It is really more like a nice hostel. She is lucky that in New York she does not have to rely on repeat business

There were 10 of us who stayed at the guesthouse. Three reasons why I chose this place: 1. It's actually a real guesthouse. There were so many fake advertisements especially on Craigslist. I'm talking about scamming you out of hundreds of dollars in deposit money, come to find out, there is no guesthouse. 2. Part of the money you pay goes towards Haitian outreach. 3. The location was perfect for our budget.

Since I went with teenage students, this guesthouse satisfied all our requirements: Close to the city (25 minutes on #2 or #3 train from Bergen Street Station). It has a fully functional kitchen to cook dinners. It was inexpensive. Having said that, it is not for everyone. You need to be flexible when dealing with the owner. As the prior review stated, we had a situation where 2 in our group had no place and had to go to another place 50 meters away. But I worked it out with the owner where we all ended up together. 2 of us just had to sleep in the living room, which was ok with me. Please be aware though, the owner did everything she can to make us all feel comfortable and at home.

Would I stay here again? Yes, if I were taking another group of students. No, if I'm travelling with my mother, which is usually the case.

This place came as a referral from an acquaintance. It is a very informal, casual place. Owned by a long-time social justice activist, proceeds from this place go to local efforts in Haiti. Lots of people coming in and out of the place. Some guests are staying longer term. No private bathrooms. Some of the bathrooms are very, very small. Not a ton of privacy. Not all doors lock on rooms. Community kitchen where you can both keep your own food and cook. Books and pictures and furniture all over the place, but it is clean. It is on the 2 & 3 subway lines, so it is extremely convenient to downtown NYC, Manhattan and the Village. It is not for everyone. Me, I liked it, thought it felt safe, and it was a great value for the price. I recommend it for those who are comfortable with a "go with the flow" feel.

This was my first urban bnb experience. I usually stay in corporate hotels when I travel for business, but this time I wanted to get a sense of the Brooklyn neighborhood - Mission accomplished. I was able to wander in the comfortable neighborhood, get my morning coffee, shop in the local markets and connect a bit with the locals. And it's true, and important, that part of the fee for your room goes as a contribution to a charity that supports redevelopment in Haiti.
My room was very clean and comfortable. I appreciated the shared facilities: large, comfortable kitchen, dining room and garden seating in the yard. The shower was large and clean. Host Lisel was conscientious, knowledgeable, hospitable, thorough and interesting. Her recommendations for neighborhood restaurants were helpful and on track for my interests. I enjoyed chatting with her about her involvements in community and social action.
I'll return to this place and am encouraged to try other urban bnb's.
