Recently spent 4 nights at this location and found the rooms to be small - no refrigerator, no drawer storage, noise from adjoining room. As a platinum member I did not get an upgrade - told no upgrade rooms were available. As I discovered the area, I found that it is very close to a subway station where you can take an express train to Manhattan. It is also close to many stores and restaurants and the Barclay Center. There was always a wait for elevators. If you don't mind an average room in exchange for a good location and you get a reasonable rate - then this is a good option.

Location for the hotel is terrific, right in Downtown Brooklyn. Great proximity to subway, shops, restaurants and underground mall. As expected, parking is problematic and even difficult to unload luggage from the car at the entrance due to its being on a narrow street. Self-service parking is available right around the corner for a very reasonable $35/night.
Check-in staff is very pleasant and accommodating. Our room was ready hours before our arrival and was confirmed by text. Elevators work fine. We had no problem with waiting for the elevator or too many people. There are several elevator banks available.
Room was clean and had a wonderful view. Bed was very comfortable and heat/air conditioning worked fine.
Two issues of note, for which I only give a 4 star rating:
1) Water pressure was variable. We were on 25th floor and the water pressure continuously cycled from medium to low pressure every 30 seconds or so. This made it important to use the sink and shower 'strategically' and anticipate low water pressure. Fortunately, it self-corrects (after about 30 seconds)
2) Beware the 25th floor: One floor above is the Kimoto Rooftop Lounge. On both Friday and Saturday night, we could not only hear, but also feel the bass vibrations from the loud music playing above us late at night. It didn't stop until about 2 AM both nights. We were fortunate to have ear plugs, but could still feel the rhythmically thumping bass. I would hope, but can't confirm if lower floors have the same problem.
Despite this, we will likely return, but choose a lower floor.

The guy who checked me in (orange color beard) was super rude. Did not welcome me, just said "credit card" not even please. He was even more rude when I confronted him about his bad manners.
Room is very clean but constant noise from elevators and generator or heating system. I could also hear the bathrooms being used above me and the sounds were not pleasant.
In room heating system is too noisy to use.
Bed is comfortable but pillows are old and lumpy. Also i hate the way that the duvet cover is just folded over the duvet not sealed at any side. During the night the sheets move and you end up sleeping directly under the internal duvet which is probably not changed from one guest to the next.
Food from the restaurant was actually good, and starbucks is convenient.
Pool closed and wifi down throughout my stay.
Nice walk into Brooklyn Bridge park and some decent shops close by.
I always use Marriott group properties but I will not stay here again.

My wife and I have stayed at this location upwards of 50 times since 2016. We consider it our home away from home after having moved out of Brooklyn when we come back on business or to visit family.

The neighboring Aloft often offers better rates, but we much prefer the rooms at the Sheraton (especially the suites if you can snag one).

Pre-COVID, the service and experience were exceptional for the location and price. Then, management unfortunately took the opportunity to cut expenses once the pandemic came along. It’s been well over a year (close to two) since the closure of the club lounge was no longer necessary, yet it still remains closed to this day. It’s inexcusable to have eliminated that perk for elite Marriott members for what appears to be nothing more than a cost cutting measure.

All of that being said, the staff at the Sheraton Downtown Brooklyn is consistently excellent, patient, and guest oriented. Service levels have improved since the pandemic stripped this place of staffing and lowered its housekeeping standards for a bit. Things are pretty much back to normal, hence my five star rating.

Elianna has been truly awesome on multiple occasions at checkin and throughout our recent stays! Thanks Elianna for taking care of us and quickly resolving the AC issue in our room the other day.

I should also point out the location of this Sheraton is especially ideal for quick access to the city (5 min on the 2/3) and parts of Brooklyn (subway or foot). You’re truly in the center of it all. Ignore the construction in the surrounding area. And leave the car at home if at all possible because driving in the area is quite problematic.

Also be sure to take care of the guys at Brooklyn Deli on the corner. Great deli breakfasts and late night sandwiches!

To management: it’s time to bring back the club lounge perks for elites. 😬

I booked a last minute one night stay here when I found myself in Brooklyn unexpectedly and needed a place to crash for the night. Definitely not my usual circumstances of traveling but as a Marriott Titanium member, I immediately assumed to find the closest Marriott and book it.

It was after midnight and the Marriott site no longer allowed same-night bookings so I called the property directly. The front desk staff told me they were sold out. (first lie)

Then I called the Marriott 1-800 number to see what properties were not sold out... Turns out Sheriton Brooklyn was one of them and they made me reservation. I showed up at the hotel shortly thereafter and the front desk people seemed unwilling or unable to find my reservation or to check me in. I spent maybe half an hour at the counter while they fumbled around with their computer, asked me the same questions over and over, repeatedly insisted that I was mistaken about the date of my own reservation (I was not mistaken), didn't offer me any kind assistance at all, and eventually I had to just give up and walk away from the property.

While I was waiting for the one unhelpful desk person to not find my reservation, I asked the other person about the hotels amenities and there are none. For example there is no breakfast, not to buy, nothing free for platinums. "Because covid". Also noticed that the Aloft next door (which is really just the same building divided into two, separately branded properties owned by the same operator) had a lobby full of security staff and it looked a bit like a TSA screening area. This is because the Aloft is now operating as a homeless shelter. And, overall, the area late at night is dark, sketchy, and even though I have lived in New York City and have been in many questionable neighborhoods....this street I actually felt nervous walking around by myself. Especially nervous to be carrying a backpack including some valuables.

So, eventually, they shrug at me, like "I don't know what you want us to do" and I gave up and left. Marriott has a guarantee that if you book a room and they won't check you in, you get a considerable compensation. So of course after this incident I contacted Marriott and asked to be compensated and that's when the hotel started to shamelessly lie - because it would be the hotel themselves who actually has to pay the guest not Marriott. The hotel claimed I had intentionally cancelled my own reservation (no) and after that excuse was proven false they came up with 2 or 3 more new and completely different explanations, all with the intent of weaseling out of the guarantee.

Eventually Marriott threw me some comp themselves but I would caution all travelers to stay as far away from this dump as possible.

I'd stayed here before (great location) and it was mediocre, but this time it was a horrible comedy of errors. The toilet was running/leaking when I came into the room the first time, there is minimal water pressure and only lukewarm water, there are old hooks on the walls with no art, etc. I had to ask for shower gel (they provided a bar of soap) and the bath towels are those tiny ones you might expect at a Motel 6. Now I finally got a good night's sleep and the alarm clock went off at 6:06 - apparently housekeeping accidentally turned it on. Of course, this will severely compromise my day, and I am only here for 5 days. I will find a different place next time and suggest you do too!

This hotel is extremely overpriced for the standard of product/service provided.

At the time of my stay (5/20/2022), the hotel was experiencing major failure of the air conditioning system. The service outage was not disclosed to me in advance of my stay, nor upon check-in. The room I stayed in (room #1907), was impacted by the outage. The AC would only blow hot air, so we were forced to keep the system off for the entirety of our stay. If we opened the window to let some air flow, we were subjected to the bright lights and loud noise from the surrounding city streets. It was 80 degrees in the room all night long, even with the windows opened. The lobby of the hotel was also impacted by the outage. This highly trafficked area was very warm, with little to no airflow. This comes at a time when NYC is at high risk for COVID spread and weather conditions call for both a heat and air quality advisories. In other words, during this time, a functioning air filtration/cooling system would be most vital to the health and safety of hotel guests.

In addition to the cooling system failure, the toilet in the room was not working properly. Upon arrival, the toilet wouldn't flush. Maintenance was called to the room twice and insisted it was fixed, but the toilet leaked and the water ran constantly. We were forced to shut the water off at the valve of the toilet, only turning it on when necessary to flush.

The hotel was booked to capacity, therefore unable to move us to another room with a working toilet and air conditioning.

At checkout, I expressed my dissatisfaction and was told I would be contacted by a manager who could help rectify the above mentioned shortcomings. I have yet to hear from anyone.

I do not recommend this hotel. Even if the air conditioning system had been working, the service was horrible and the facility not well maintained.

Initially we planed on staying for 3 nights but, due to the bad experience and bad service in the hotel, we’ve decided to book a different hotel for the 3rd night.

I know what the name Sheraton stands for. In my opinion, the Sheraton Brooklyn is not up to the Sheraton standard.

The bad experience we had, includes the following:

1. There was a very weak water current / drip of water from the shower hose. But it was late and we were tired, we had to shower like that. Only in the next morning we called the reception to send someone to fix the issue. He replaced the whole tap, thus the problem was partially solved as the current was only slightly stronger.

2. The sheets that cover the bed, reach only 2/3 of the length of the bed, leaving the feet and the lower part of the leg with no sheet underneath. Never seen such a peculiar sheet arrangement in all of my 400 stays with Sheraton. Before we left for few hours we told the reception and they’ve committed to take care of it. On our return, we were surprised to find out that the sheets were arranged in this configuration again. We called the front desk and an unpleasant guy named Felix asked us the same questions again and again. The issue was not taken care of for a long time. After 2 hours someone arrived and brought with him several sheets, probably expecting that we would arrange the beds, as “all of the housekeeping personnel had left at 5pm”. In order to solve the “complex situation”, the front desk manager asked us to change a room. I told him that it will be easier for me to set up the bed by myself, as I have finally done.

3. Due to COVID restrictions the concierge lounge was not operating. There are many hotels in the chain that did operate the lounge (e.g. Marriot Detroit Troy in which we’ve stayed few days earlier) and others provided us with daily vouchers to replace the lounge (The Row hotel Boston our previous stay). In your hotel even the vouchers were not provided.

4. As a platinum guest I am intitled to get a free breakfast either in the lounge or a free breakfast instead of the welcome points. In this case I received only a voucher of 18$ and even though I had a very light breakfast (only one dish of eggs) with a cup of coffee, I ended up paying 10$ extra per person (that were not able to put on the room’s tab. All the dishes in the menu are 16-18$ before tax Breakfast experience was even worst, as the waiter that attended our table was working without a mask (which is mandatory in NYC). He was not willing to put it on, even after I’ve asked him twice to do so.

5. Parking – it was mentioned in the hotel info that there is parking service for 35$ daily. It is quite far to drive there and in addition, it was not mentioned that you are allowed to take your car out only once a day!

Due to the above we stayed the 3rd night in a different hotel.

The rooms in this hotel are okay, the staff is nice, but that is about where it ends. The entry to this hotel is under construction and the scaffolding provides shelter to a lot of "activity" and not good activity. The smell of cigarettes and marijuana will knock you down every time you go in and out. The restaurant in this hotel was poor, we ate there once and were two of the only diners and poor attention and gnats and flies had to constantly be shooed away. I got a hamburger and felt funny after I ate it, I did not get sick but was worried. I had stayed at the Marriott Brooklyn Bridge the week prior but my co-workers said the rooms here were not bad so I joined them the next week. Big mistake, will pay extra to stay somewhere other than here if I am ever in the area again.

Disappointed in our stay. Bring your earplugs if you have a hope to sleep. Customer service was not courteous. I spent $400 on a one night stay here to not get any rest. Management mentioned they would comp me $75 and this would be refunded a few days later to my card, however this never happened. Will certainly not return.
