I stayed here last week in room 418 and really enjoyed my lovely stay! The front desk staff, Steandly, was so nice and helpful from the start to the end and made my stay that much more pleasant! The room was a good size and clean with a comfy bed. Complimentary breakfast and gym downstairs were a big plus! Love the neighborhood with my favorite cafes and stores nearby too. All in all I had such a pleasant time and will stay here again!

I traveled to Brooklyn to visit my son for the long holiday weekend, February 15th through 17th. I chose NU Hotel based on its central location. I had looked at the photos on the website and decided to stay here. I was not disappointed!
The lobby is minimally decorated but that doesn't mean uncomfortable. The check in process was quick and I even was able to check in early after asking if they could hold my bag until 3p.
The room was a very nice size with a comfortable bed, a chair and small table to sit and read, a desk and chair, and the bureau which had the beverage tray on one end and the Keurig set up on the other. The bathroom was a good size as well with a large glass enclosed shower with a rainfall shower head (which was heaven!) and L'Occitane hair and shower products handy in the shower. There were robes in the closet - very comfortable - and a full size ironing board and iron.
The room was bright and sunny and the artwork displayed in it was amazing. There was a biography of the artist responsible for it as well. I thought that was a nice touch.
The refrigerator was well stocked with a variety of soda and there were 2 bottles of wine in the room. I used the fridge for outside items (half & half, small soda bottles) and they fit just fine without removing the already present items. I did not use anything from the room fridge.
The person who cleaned my room noticed that I drank tea and left extra Keurig pods for that. It was very nice!
The breakfast on my first morning could be chosen from local bagels, an assortment of bread/muffins, a variety of meats a cheese, fresh fruit, and hard boiled eggs. There was a toaster available along with cream cheese, jams, and butter. The second morning I had something I had bought the day before but definitely would have had breakfast at the hotel again. There is tea, coffee, and water available 24 hrs a day.
Everyone was very welcoming, attentive, and available if needed.
It was a wonderful stay and I look forward to returning in the future.

The Nu Urban Suite is beautiful. Very nice use of space and the hammock is fun to chill in after a stroll around the neighborhood. Staffs are very friendly and the check in/out process is seamless. I was also provided an Essentials for a Healthy and Safe Stay kit which included two (2) Cotton face masks, sanitizer, and antibacterial hand wipes. The neighborhood is bustling during the day and fairly quiet at night. Walking distance to food, pharmacy, and shopping. I would definitely recommend to my peers.

I'm giving two stars because the staff were very pleasant and I believe the cleanliness issue was more due to lack supplies and staff. The room needs to be cleaned better. When I first arrived the floor was filthy. And the cleaning staff were not equipped with proper brooms and mops. Moreover, the curtains and furniture look they have not been cleaned in a long time. It was covered in dust and dirt. I actually had to clean the room myself in order to feel remotely comfortable. I also recommend that you reupholster or replace the couch in the suite. It was covered in dog hair and the fabric was shedding. I ended up asking for an extra set of sheets so I could cover it temporarily so I felt comfortable enough to sit and work. I strongly urge that the next time the suite is cleaned, the drapes are vacuumed or just shaken out, the floors are properly swept and the crevices within the couch cousin and the bed frame furniture are properly cleaned out/vacuumed. I could tell the hotel was short staffed and did not have enough resources to deeply clean which is concerning seeing as people that hotel should be up to covid standards. Finally, the sheets were old and actually had a hole in them!

After staying over the water so many times I came to appreciate the local feel of Brooklyn. This is a really good place to explore both. Subway links are excellent, though so many people seem concerned at the current state of safety & warned us about travelling at night. In the main we stayed local at nighgt which is not difficult as there are so many great bars & restaurants in easy reach.
We were greeted on registering by a warning that due to staff shortages our room would not get a full service (no mention of a refund as this was happening). And in fact the room wasnt touched in our 4 night stay - though we did go & get changed towels.
Its a great location, staff were friendly & the lttle breakfast bar was adequate.
Id definitely return.

My Mom's friend has an expression: "New is nice"!. I would say the same for the asthetics of Nu. They're nice. Unfortunately the nice ends there. Upstairs the hallways are remenicent of 1 star hotel/hostels. Corridors are confusing with no signage to indicate amenities such as the Elevators. Rooms are beautiful and quaint but the heater a/c units are quirky and are either too loud or too cold. The digital regulator doesn't seem to offer many options. Beds look nice but are way too hard and offer an uncomfortable sleep. Bedding is tucked so hard, if you don't fully dislodge it before bed you're going to have a struggle during the night. Shower/bath is beautiful but difficult to understand how to use. The had water is at the beginning of the faucet gander revolution instead of at the end where it belongs. Results in leaving the water run for 10 mins expecting it to get hot, only to realize it's backwards afterwards through trial and error. Rooms have a couple of chairs but strangely, there more sitting/business oriented than comfy/loungey. Check in process was just ok, imo in 2020, when you book online, you should be able to show up to the hotel and just apple/Android pay. The is NO reason for having at a Guest Services counter for them to go clackitey clack like an airline counter from the 1980's... Ultimately, my stay wasn't atrocious, but since I couldn't sleep is have been better suited staying out all night to have fun.

Thanks for taking the time to write such a detailed review Explore688539. NU is nice and our entire team on property is dedicated to the guest experience; knowing that everyone has their preferences and that their is always something to gain by listening to our guests. We don't usually hear that our hallways are confusing; in that the room # ranges are displayed by the elevator and most people can find their way back to the elevators without any trouble. We believe our hallways are whimsically painted and transporting as you pass through them to our loft like rooms that we agree are "beautiful" and quaint. Our bedding is tucked tight as it befits the minimalist furnishing and platform beds. Most guest realize this prior to trying to slip between the sheets and loosen them to their preferred snugness. The mattresses are industry standard "firm". Some guests find us firm, some find them soft and some find them just right and ask where they can buy them. It's hard to believe that the hot and cold water plumbing is reversed, but I'm going to have our engineers test each room during their next round of preventative maintenance visits. I should have heard this before, but I sincerely appreciate you mentioning this. All of our HVAC system are brand new and can be regulated to maintain the required temperature during through the year. I always recommend that guest ask for assistance from the house staff when a mechanical control needs to be adjusted. It can completely reverse a negative experience. We have Suites with couches for more lounge like seating; if required. Finally, all of our front office systems are Windows 10 platforms running a state of the art Infor reservations software with chip technology for security. Your suggestion to introduce Apple pay is much appreciated and will be shared with our IT group for future upgrades. We seek to make the registration process as secure and accurate as possible and human interaction with keyboards is still necessary for a majority of guests. Perhaps in the future we'll be able to convert to an environment where guest can flawlessly choose their preferred hotel environment on mobile devices, access them, pay for them and adjust the bedding comfort by using the touch screen. gary.desoiza@nuhotelbrooklyn.com

I routinely stay at this cozy very convenient well located hotel prior to sailing to England on the Queen Mary 2.

You cannot help but notice that this is a very pet friendly hotel given the warm greeting the pets and their owners receive at the front desk.

I am bringing this up because if you are taking pets on the Queen Mary 2 on a voyage to England this is the perfect hotel for a pre-crossing stay. I note that pets are only allowed on the QM2 for the transatlantic crossings. The demand is so high on this liner that kennel space was expanded during a refit three years ago. Pets are well taken care of by a well trained staff and owners are allowed regular access to their pets. Owners and pets love the Queen Mary! Consult Cunard Line for details. And pets seeem to love the Nu Hotel!!

To the hotel itself. My last stay was January 2, 2020. I fequent this hotel becuase of the wonderful staff from the gracious general manger Gary DeSoiza on down the chain. The staff is so friendly and professional and always willing to help. On this visit I was impressed again with Solomon, Julie, Angelique, Johnny and Alfred. I was also impressed with Alex who manages the lobby breakfast service.

The room is very comfortable although I do wish the beds were higher off the floor. It can be a bit trying for an older person to get out of the bed. I REALLY do wish the owners would address this long standing issue. When I arrived the condition of the room was excellent which speaks to the dedication of the hard working room housekeeping staff.

I also stay at this hotel because it it NOT a big convention/wedding venue with thousands of people hanging around and ten weddding receptions taking place. It is a comfortable human friendly hotel.

The hotel is also convenient to many cafes, markets and restaurants. I felt very safe. It is also only about a 15-20 minute ride to the pier in Red Hook.

This hotel is highly recommended. Have fun.

Thank you Patrick! We really appreciate you taking the time to write this review and helping us to gain exposure to QM2 passengers. NU is an absolutely perfect hotel for transatlantic voyages docking at the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal. Given that both of us (QM2 and NU Hotel) are pet friendly, we're a logical choice. Special thanks to you for the staff/team mentions. I will make sure that everybody sees this review. I will follow up on the platform bed height issue. Great management and staff. A long term stay brought us in touch with people of all responsibilities, seeing some on a daily basis. To a person no request went unfulfilled or forgotten. Each was handled with grace and a smile. Location is convenient for walks to shops, restaurants, bakeries, neighborhoods, public transportation, parks, and waterfront. Rooms are comfortably appointed. Windows with triple panes keep out street noise. HVAC system works well. Breakfast selection is thoughtful and healthy. Coffee and tea always available. Usually fresh fruit. Laundry services nearby. Iron in room. Parking next door.

You can get to a Mets game if you take an Uber; this hotel is not close to the Mets Stadium in Queens. JFK is also a hike, but this is closer to JFK than Manhattan hotels. I'm not certain if you can store luggage - they likely do it, but I would recommend calling them to get an answer. All in all, this is a pretty good hotel for a family and pre-COVID, it was definitely one of the best in Brooklyn.

This is a great neighborhood - one of the most desirable in Brooklyn - but there is the Brooklyn jail across the street. The lobby is well-attended but most of the staff at this point are new. I do think this is as safe as you can get in Brooklyn or NYC at this point just due to the heavy police presence and the proximity of the front desk to the entry and elevators.

No, we do not have smoking rooms. Guest that smoke in rooms forsake their security deposit and are assessed additional financial penalties for the cleaning procedure required to freshen rooms
