Stayed here in May 2021 for 2 nights. The room was small but comfortable and I like the eco friendly approach- no small plastic shampoo or water bottles here. There is valet parking ($45/night) and they will charge your EV vehicle overnight at no added cost. The rooftop bar food is okay, but drinks and view of very good and enjoyable. There is a small pool on the rooftop as well. A nice park is right outside the hotel and the neighborhood (DUMBO) has many good restaurants.

When my apartment was being renovated, my sister and mother had to find a place to stay temporarily, and after staying at 1 Brooklyn Bridge Hotel for a few days, we wished it was not temporary.

From their sharp service, to their delicious food, 1 Brooklyn Bridge Hotel exceeds expectations and really breaks the boundaries of what a hotel is in all the best ways.

Not only do they have an incredible view, fantastic room service, innovative and eco conscious rooms, an enormous pool, a stunning gym, a terrific restraint and so on, and so on. 1 Brooklyn Bridge makes it’s guests feel welcome, at home, but more than anything, refreshed. The rooms are designed to have infinite uses from a filtered water system, to a hammock, each room is different yet fully capable to excite any guest that attends.

I rarely get the pleasure of staying in a Hotel as good as 1 Brooklyn Bridge Hotel, and even though I live in Brooklyn, it transported me to a different place, something every Hotel should do.

From the moment the Uber pulled up to the hotel my luggage was cared for and before entering the building there are signs clear enough to see about the safety precautions of entering wearing a mask covering your nose and mouth. Your temperature is taken once read then your allowed to enter the main building to check in.The staff was absolutely excellent mannered and about their business keeping the hotel in order and safe for everyone. I felt so safe and secure. My next staycation will be there again for sure! The view leaves you speechless.

I booked this hotel because a friend (highly) recommended it after an idyllic stay a year or so ago.

The online booking process was smooth, and the team called as a courtesy to inform us of the precautions in place to keep the staff and guests as safe as possible.
Calling the hotel itself the morning of check-in, to ascertain whether we could get into our room early, was seemingly impossible — the calls kept routing to people in a central location, and they each gave me another number to call but, each time, I couldn’t get to the front desk at the hotel, as I had been told.

Checking in was fine when we arrived, and we managed to check-in 3 or so hours earlier than the website stipulated, but things seemed to go downhill from there...

One of the selling points for me was “farm to table” food. Turns out that the food / restaurants available to us were oversold (and overpriced) and, frankly, the choices were limited. Additionally, we were told by a waiter that the food menu on the roof differed from The Osprey restaurant — when we went to order food on the roof, we found the menu to be identical to The Osprey. Our first evening was worse, in that service at The Osprey was so slow that, when we went up to the roof, they had stopped serving! This was after we had put our name down for dinner on the roof; they had taken our phone number and told us they’d call us as close to that time as possible — we never received a call.

Then there was the room. Our air con vent was disgustingly dusty and there were items missing from the room — it took multiple asks, to multiple members of staff, over the course of our first afternoon / evening to rectify the missing items.

I was really excited to spend time at the rooftop pool, so it was most disappointing to learn (at check-in) that we had to put our names down on an already lengthy list of guests in order to access the pool area because “it was busier than anticipated”.

The afternoon of day two brought one of the few available amenities to a close, due to a storm. We were turned away from the roof in the afternoon and, once the storm had passed in the evening, we tried to go back and found the area closed off — the door was locked, but there was no sign or indication as to why (given the storm had passed!) ...so we went all the way down to the front desk, to be told it was “definitely open again, for observation”. When we explained there was a locked door implying otherwise, the lady contacted security on her radio and was told that they could see a storm in the distance, so the roof would remain closed. (For the record, another storm never came).
So, on evening two, we were left with our hotel room as our only option; no restaurants, no spa, no rooftop, no pool.

I can understand the eagerness to reopen, and I was truly excited to stay here, but all expectations were crushed and I’m checking out questioning what I paid for.

Dear SMiles87, Thank you so very much for your feedback. Please allow for me to sincerely apologize for not creating the experience we're typically known for and clearly didn't deliver on what you were looking for. The team has worked hard to re-open the hotel during these challenging times to provide some respite for our guests; and while we're still fine tuning some of our processes after this first week of opening to ensure our guest and team members are safe, the points you raised are valid and I'm truly sorry for that. I'd be delighted to connect on private message and see if we can turn this around. Thank you and kind regards, Hans

Arrogantly chic to the point that the staff feels that service is unnecessary. “You should be proud to be able to say that you stayed here” must be the thought running through their minds.
True, we typically stay at the Carlyle or St. Regis in Manhattan, but our daughter’s birthday party was in Brooklyn. That brought us to this hotel ( a big mistake). The room was so tiny we wondered where were we going to put our stuff. The view into the office building across the street was uninspiring. The bathroom sink was so cluttered with a 2X2 patch of “eco-moss” that you couldn’t unload your toiletries. The bathroom sink was a slanted trough positioned so that it splashed on you if you turned the water on. My wife had to put a towel in the sink to avoid this. The shop worn drawers made out cardboard were “cute”, but really? Hangers of recycled paper products were a match for the drawers. Unfinished concrete walls, bare steel throughout-oh so chic. The electronics were so hip that you had to take time to figure out how to turn the lights on. Figure out how the elevators work? Good luck—and then to be told that they were out of order after putzing for 5 minutes trying to make them work…OMG.
We didn’t start complaining until we were shown our room. That prompted us to ask the bellman to have the front desk call us to see if we could change rooms. How long did it take for that call to come? Still waiting.
There’s a wonderful rooftop lounge with great views. We went up to check that out and were told by what appeared to be the hostess (among the other 3 staff members conversing with her and themselves) “$50 per person minimum if you are staying in the hotel, otherwise $100 minimum.” She could have started off with “Hello” or something that suggested that she was happy to see us. We left and went to the cafe for lunch (lunch tab was $135, but no complaints; I added another 10% on top of mandatory tip). Laura, the F&B manager and John, our server, were delightful and I told them so, “Our only bright spot so far.”

The location is truly fantastic, right where you want to be. The concierge is very personable and knowledgeable, but our schedule precluded our really being able to use his knowledge base.
When I told a well known travel writer at the B-day party where we were staying, she described it as a s***hole. How were we to know? We could have read the other reviews and stayed in Manhattan.
We are definitely taking the 1 Hotel chain off of our list…like forever!!
Fair warning to you, “read the rules about signing up for rooftop pool.”
Neva. Neva again.

My fiance surprised me with a birthday "staycation" at 1 hotel, I have been eyeing this hotel for a few years now and since flying is such a nightmare, he decided on this. I have to say, the front desk staff are very friendly and helpful. The rest of the staff were hit and miss.. Let's start with the pool, which we made reservations for the two days we were there, the service was incredibly slow, it took a while for someone to come around and take our orders and at least 20-30 min to get two, basic drinks. On day two, there were a group of small kids who were consistently splashing us (and others in the pool) and were so loud it made it hard to enjoy the space. If I may make a suggestion, the pool should be adult only, especially since you get such a limited time there. The food options at the pool were a little off as well, I cannot imagine eating Sushi on a hot summer day outside with the sun beating on me. Perhaps try having fresh fruits and some lighter refreshing bites. Overall the food at this location was good, but very very overpriced and options were limited. The rooms were small, as expected, and the layout was a bit strange and ours was not very clean. It was very dusty, countertops had stains on them and the lighting was so dark. It took room service over 24 hours to pick up dishes from our room. We heard the elevator all night long as well as everything going on in the hallway. We did not get a very good nights rest, and on top of that the hotel charged us an extra $151 out of nowhere because we got a "higher floor".. we were on floor 8. This charge was not discussed with us prior and my fiance will be calling the hotel to seek a refund. The gym was FILTHY which I was very, very taken back by. The one and only elliptical they have had a used cup in it and sweat marks everywhere. There were no wipes to wipe down the equipment they appeared to be out. In a pandemic and with the hefty price tag that came along with our stay I would hope cleanliness would be their top priority, I opted for a jog outside instead, I was hesitant on touching anything else. It was $70 dollars a day to park our car, again a cost that was not discussed prior and just freely charged. The lobby was so beautiful. The rooftop area was not well kept. There were so many empty glasses left everywhere, the tables were not wiped down/sanitized when one person left and you could not get food on one side of the rooftop area. There was construction going on and it was so loud. We were lucky and we were able to grab a table on the other side. The views are probably the best part of this location, they are breath taking however the cost to stay here did not justify the accommodations. Since it was my birthday one of the bartenders was SO sweet and she gave me a drink on the house in Harriets indoor lounge. They did lose my reservations however I made a month ago, which was frustrating since I received two text messages confirming them. We had to wait a lot longer for our table. Nothing is perfect and I REALLY wanted to love this location and have a relaxing seamless birthday and make this a yearly tradition but sadly it was a miss for us!

Kiki and Kat were wonderful upon arrival. Very kind, patient, helpful and left no stone unturned as my friend and I were trying to get adjoining rooms with our daughters. Our rooms had amazing views of NY with floor to ceiling windows and clear, far views. The lounge/bar upstairs, Harriet's, had a good vibe for a couple drinks and good music. The restaurant, Osprey, was nice for brunch. The hotel had a great location to be able to walk around/near/under the Brooklyn Bridge to go for pizza at Grimaldi's or Juliana's, hot chocolate at Jacques Torres, etc. Also close to nice walking paths by the grass and water. Comfortable bed. All in all - a one-night getaway at 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge made for a great staycation.

The location, views, and physical space of the room are fantastic. My suite with bridge views is memorable, comfortable, well decorated, and spacious. The room is generally well appointed, even includes a yoga mat! There's limited overhead lighting so the place is pretty dark.

I am shocked that not one hotel staff member was wearing a mask at the front desk, the concierge, the rooftop bar, or the Osprey restaurant. The exception was one man working at the coffee shop. There's no signage about limiting number of people in elevators or distancing in the lobby. I tried ordering from The Osprey by phone but had to go downstairs and speak to the (unmasked) bartender at the (unmasked, full) bar. The guests are also 90% unmasked, even children. Its like I left NYC and went to Mississippi. Trip Advisor shows that guests and staff are supposed to be masked, however.

Calling the front desk to ask simple questions took a while, nobody answered two times that I called. There's no room service menu or any guidance about food in the rooms. Twice it was suggested that I download the app if I have questions. I had asked for a room service menu and information about the pool. I don't want to download an app!

We stayed at the hotel for 2 nights. First, the good : the location is fantastic. The rooms though smallish are decently appointed and comfortable. The bad: the service is absolutely indifferent. We met another group at the hotel and they mentioned the same thing. At check-in, there was no one at the desk. An assistant sauntered in 5 minutes later and started check-in in a very loud voice. There was no customary "how are you?" etc. No one greets you when you walk in. There is no " how can we help". The difference between an okay hotel and an exceptional hotel is service, and here the service was completely indifferent. Second, the walls are paper thin. You can hear everything next door. Finally, the cafe (Neighbors was the name I think) has the same terrible service. Both days, the woman behind the bar plonked down my coffee and did not even bother to ask me if I needed sugar. I ordered overnight oats. They arrived 45-50 minutes later because "the chefs were in a meeting". I kid you not.... for overnight oats! If I am paying upwards of $600/night for a room, I do expect courtesy and service.I do not recommend this hotel till they attempt to train their staff, and would not stay here again.

Pros:
Location
Design
Rooftop

Cons:
Service at rooftop
Communication regarding pool reservations
Tiny rooms
Stained bedding

We usually stay elsewhere in Brooklyn with the same amenities as the 1 hotel. However, we wanted to the 1 hotel a try. The hotel itself is beautiful! We love the location. Check in was easy. The rooms are tiny! No space for much. The rooftop pool had beautiful views, but very small. Upon making our reservations we read on their site that pool loungers are for hotel guests only, on a first come first serve basis. Also stated reservations can not be guaranteed. “First come, first serve” to me meant if I’m sitting there, it’s mine. So we planned to spend all day at the pool, I got up early to grab a seat. Around 10 am pool attendant came around confirming if we had reservations or not. I was confused because of the “first come, first serve” verbiage online. So we couldn’t enjoy the pool at all. Had to get up. I went to the front desk to voice my concerns and show what I had read on their site, she said she will have someone reach out. No one did. We ate at the rooftop, Harriets. They had a $75/PP minimum. No big deal, but the service was terrible. If you’re going to require a minimum at least serve us with actual plates and glasses. Prosecco in a plastic cup? No thanks. I get covid times, but the other hotel we frequent in Brooklyn also has a rooftop, no minimum spend and we are served on actual glass wear and proper glasses for specific wines. The first night we woke up dying hot because the air wasn’t working. We figured we may have left the window open so we didn’t complain. Until the next day it still wasn’t working, however that was fixed within 30 minutes of me going to the front desk to ask for maintenance. Our blanket had some kind of blood looking stain, which I noticed the last night because I pulled all of the extra bedding off from the actual comforter. I’ve been to many hotels and I am usually pleased with my stay, takes a lot to make me come to the conclusion that I will never stay in a certain hotel again. 5 star hotels have never disappointed me, until this stay. We also booked the “statue of liberty” room.. not sure what that meant because we didn’t see any views of that.
