I was stayed at the Brooklyn Hilton while I was in town for funeral for a family member. I arrived on the Sunday afternoon at the hotel. I was a little disappointed that there was no one at the door to assist with luggage. I am partly disabled and require some assistance. I managed to a luggage cart and make my way to the room.

I tried to use my phone to enter the room. It never did work for me the entire stay. Fortunately, Jelice from the front desk happily came upstairs to my rescue. Throughout my stay, Jelice was the hotels cheerful and kindness ambassador for the Hilton chain.(My description) She was always happy help deliver small items to my room throuhgout the stay.

I didnt care for the $25 destination charge, however that is offset by a daily credit of the same amount for use in the restaurant/Bar. My scotch that I purchased at the Walnut Bar helped ease the sting. I ordered off the menu for room service and found the quality to be excellent. Forget the breakfast buffet. I found it to be far less appetizing. Give me freshly cooked breakfast. anytime.

Checkout was very easy using the Hilton app. My bill was sent directly to my phone on my way out the door. When I called back to the front desk to ask about a discrepancy in my bill, the gentleman that answered the phone, quickly adjusted my account and all was good with the world.

The Hilton BRooklyn takes up the first 6 floors of the building, with the balance taken up by residential condos. I was in 601, the executive section and every night they would be moving someithing across the floors that resembled a subway passing underneath but the sound and vibration was coming from above.

Take a bow Jelice! You showed how to deliver excellent customer service in a dignified respectful manner by helping me with the little things that many take for granted.

This was a good experience all around. The location is very convenient to Brooklyn and Manhattan destinations, parking arrangements were reasonable, and the hotel was clean. Now that is a lot coming from me; I brought an entire suitcase with cleaning supplies and didn’t need to use them much. They had sanitizer and wipes available in the lobby. The elevator was cleaned often, and they showed accountability by posting the last time it was cleaned inside. Key entry is required for the elevators, so we felt safe. The restaurant offered a good breakfast buffet, but the food was overshadowed by the service. The staff recognized us by day 2 and anticipated our needs. There was a conflict or two at the front desk with billing, but it was promptly handled beyond my satisfaction, and that is also saying a lot coming from me because I expect a lot. We were always greeted by all staff, including housekeeping, with whom we had limited interaction, as we declined cleaning services for our entire three day stay. Overall, during each interaction we truly felt valued. I would definitely stay here again.

I wrote a review of the Hilton Brooklyn two years ago giving it the highest rating. For the past several years, we have stayed here Thanksgiving week while visiting our daughter. It is a great location near the major subway lines and is surrounded by good restaurants.

Our experience during our six-day stay at the end of November 2019 was several levels below our experience from prior stays. The hotel had just started adding a mandatory $25 per day Urban Destination Charge (UDC). Fortunately, we had made reservations in advance before this UDC policy was implemented. What is the UDC for? You get three things. First, you get upgraded WI-Fi (a $14,95 per day value). Second, you get a free workout at a new fitness center around the corner. Third, you get a $25 meal voucher that can only be used at the hotel's restaurant. When I asked the front desk why this UDC fee was implemented, the answer was the hotel had a new general manager. and he wanted to drive more guests to eat at the hotel restaurant. Nothing against the quality of the hotel restaurant but there are just too many good restaurants in the area to be "forced" to eat at the hotel restaurant. The UDC seems like just another attempt for a hotel to tack on a hidden charge to the guest's bill.

In prior years, the lobby area was decorated for the season. This year, the lobby area was barren.

Housekeeping standards seemed to have slipped a bit. During the last three days of our stay, there was a chicken bone on the hallway floor between our room and the elevator. No one on the hotel staff noticed a chicken bone on the floor for three days?

We will still stay here in the future when we are in Brooklyn (as long as their rates are competitive) but I hope our next experience is improved.

This hotel is fairly bland and uninspiring. The room decor is average, room comfort average and bathrooms are fine. The breakfast and the public spaces are better than the rooms in my view. Hanging out in the open bar/lounge area downstairs far preferable to being in the room. I stayed in room 458 which had a view of another building across the street but was quiet. Staff were great.

Tips for hotel:
- The gym has minimal equipment. Seems a missed opportunity for you to get some decent kit.
- The system by which you charge $25 extra stay in the room but you can claim this back against drinks etc is odd. Why?
- Carpets need changing.

They have instituted an extra $30/night charge for all rooms, beyond the rates you see when you book, and you then get a corresponding $30 "credit" for dining at the hotel. If you're in NYC, you probably don't want to be forced to dine at a Hilton, there are lots of other options. Just seems like a way to squeeze more money from its guests.

With additional fees, you might think you get better service. Alas, not the case. On the other side, they are scrimping on services by not having your room cleaned, presumably unless you request it.

(And their wi-fi was really bad and kept dropping)

There are better options in the area, I would skip this hotel.

We spent a week here. The biggest shock is when we checked in , we were surprised by a $25 charge a night (called location surcharge fee) that you can spend on drinks or food. If you don’t use it on the day, it does not roll over to next day so you pay it for nothing. I have stayed all over different countries in Hiltons and this is the first time I come across this fee !! While I would sit in the lobby, I hear local or interstate guests continually arguing and shocked about this fee. We mainly spent it on soda however the fridge in the lobby was mainly empty most of the time. How can you only have Coke Vanilla but not normal Coke or no sugar or diet ??!! Our last night finally, they had the other cokes!!! It costed $6 a bottle for 590 ml … a packet of chips $6 … smarties $6 … here goes the $25 !! The guys at the front desk were not that friendly and helpful when we were checking in … The bar closed at 9:30-10 pm at the very latest !! The room was very big, clean and comfy however the bath was very shallow (not deep). The location is good in the midst of downtown and plenty of bars, cafes and restaurants around. The next block there was a court and a detention Centre ( which I found it very strange to have it in such a location).

Awful experience. Front desk staff are obnoxious. If you ask for an upgrade because you have diamond level status they just tell you it’s not possible even though online rooms are available. No matter what you ask the answer is always no. The hotel spaces are clean but the rooms are not clean enough. The rugs are not vacuumed properly and the sheets were stained. Everything felt sticky. We are 99% sure we found one bed bug on our bed. We only found 1- but we didn’t take the mattress apart and inspect it. One of us had insect bites on our hands and wrists - maybe from this but who knows. I would hands down never ever say to spend a night here. You are better off staying at a hotel with more accommodating front desk staff. Also, if you are a certain level membership you are supposed to get credits for breakfast of $15 each adult. They won’t add this to your bill automatically so you need to know and ask for it. Bar and restaurant staff were very nice and friendly but that’s about it. I would take your money to the Marriott. Awful stay.

It’s an OK Hilton hotel. The room is ok.
It’s annoying that they charge “resort fee” of $25. Why can’t they include in the room rate if mandatory fee ? You can use the credit at the bar. So we had a couple of drinks we didn’t want. There isn’t even a gym in the hotel. A bottle of water costs $6 at the kiosk. I will not be back.

I have stayed in Hilton properties all over the world, in big cities and small towns. This experience is truly unique in that the location and staff are very nice, but the property is poorly maintained and the housekeeping is substandard.

When I entered my room beginning my 4-night stay, I went to the bathroom to find (a) lipstick on my towels, (b) a used soap bar with no fresh one, (c) a loose toilet seat that would have been dangerous to use, and (d) no plastic or paper cups to get a drink of water. None of this meets Hilton standards. I notified the front desk that I had personally tightened the toilet seat (I travel with a small tool kit), but I expected better housekeeping in the coming days.

Meanwhile, the climate control automatically turns itself to HEAT from the COOL mode at 3am which is most unpleasant in summertime in Brooklyn. As I write this, my room is unpleasantly warm because the A/C doesn’t cool anything. I notified the front desk in person, twice, about this, and was assured it was “checked out”. Clearly it was not repaired. And as far as maintenance goes only 1 elevator of 2 is operating in this building.

Now for the pluses: the breakfast buffet is very well prepared; however, the executive lounge (which is also the breakfast room) does not have afternoon appetizers or alcoholic beverages, a major disappointment.

For over $400 per night, I expect better housekeeping, maintenance and a proper “Hilton” experience. I will not stay here again.
