Located in the heart of the Historic District, The DeSoto reigns as “Savannah’s hotel.” She is a beloved landmark that has played a gracious hostess to presidents, celebrities and visitors since 1890. Treasured period details, including original crystal chandeliers and terracotta tiles, mix seamlessly with contemporary art, creating a thoughtful juxtaposition between history and modern-day style. When you stay at The DeSoto, you're within walking distance of so many famous attractions including Forsyth Park, River Street and City Market. You'll love the view over beautiful Madison Square from our rooftop pool and patio. Dine in one of two on-site chef-driven restaurants (Proof & Provision or 1540 Room). With over 20,000 sq. feet, our meeting and event space features panoramic views of the city, perfect for any gathering, business event or wedding reception.

We had a large group staying here for a 60th birthday. Three couples had to have their rooms changed upon check in for different issues (room not cleaned, wrong bedding, a handicapped room with no bathroom countertop-no one is handicapped). One of those couples had to move twice! The bedroom is large, but the bathroom is tiny. One person at a time. You couldn't get out of the shower without closing the bathroom door. My room came with 1 bath towel and 1 hand towel. That's it. Not a problem getting more though, but that is just ridiculous. On day 2, the water went out along with the AC for several hours. My boyfriend couldn't take a shower before going out to the birthday dinner celebration. Then, when the water did come back on it was brown when you first turned it on and 4 people in our party drank tap water later and all were sick with diarrhea and one was also vomitting. The manager was notified, she only apologized. I am currently waiting for a manager to call me because after reviewing my bill from the tiki bar at the pool, I have a charge for $143 for 3 drinks (doubles). The bartender was doing some shady drink deals with people, so he probably added a huge tip to mine. His last day was yesterday, so you won't have to worry, but perhaps they could hire better people? My friend has some questionable charges as well. The pool is nice. Small, but nice with loungers sitting in the shallow end. Good amount of shade as well. Location is good. It's away from the riverfront by about a mile. Nice quiet neighborhood. Taxi cabs await you out front. The concierge could have been more helpful, she only confused us when trying to get this large group on a sight seeing tour. Valet parking attendants were excellent. But that is your only choice for parking at $38 per night. Also, be aware of the added taxes and fees to your room rate ie: State tax, City tax, City lodging fee, GA State Hotel/Motel fee, Historic Preservation fee. 3 nights cost us $1300.00. Wasn't worth it.

Pros hotel is very nice w/balcony made it perfect, valet parking was super with great people always had our car with in minutes. Hotel maintance man was awesome and brought us a mini fridge and a fan cause it was so hot outside the air wasn't keeping up. Cons rooms are decent size but a little on smaller size if more than 2 people, the outside pool roof top bars weren't open besides weekends, breakfast cost extra and was a little pricey but not bad. Downtown Savannah is nice but have to many homeless people laying, walking around asking for help which I don't mind helping if their really homeless..I would definitely book DeSoto hotel again and it was a 15 min walk to river street and plenty of shops and bars/restaurants where either next door or with in blocks!!

We had a great experience at The Desoto Hotel. The room was great and very comfortable. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The best part of the hotel was the valet staff!! They were absolutely wonderful (friendly, helpful and always in a good mood). Jeremiah specifically went out of his way to ask how our day was going and made several recommendations of places to see and eat at. Overall a wonderful experience. Will definitely be saying there again when we go back in November!

My first impression of a hotel is by how you are greeted upon your arrival. The DeSoto is a historic beautifully appointed hotel in a great part of town near everything! Kudos go to Frank in valet, his warm welcome and southern charm and hospitality greeted us upon our arrival. It didn’t stop there Kelly in concierge was so helpful in making our trip and sightseeing trips effortless! A big thank you goes to Chris at the front desk and Mitch, the managing director for making our stay so comfortable. It was a birthday celebration I will never forget. The food and service in the restaurant was outstanding - everyone couldn’t do enough to make our stay effortless and so enjoyable. Looking forward to coming back to this great town and fabulous hotel.

Very nice facility in a great area of Savannah with lots to see and great restaurants. Within walking distance of Broughton where there is great food, drink, and shopping. Refreshing to be off Riverstreet. The facility has great amenities and much to offer, but much needs some gentle attention. Staff were extremely nice, friendly, and helpful. My shower door would not shut completely, and it was evident that it has been that way for quite some time. One of the closet door handles was about to fall off, and there were water stains on the ceiling in the bathroom. The large conference room where all of our meetings were held had cuts and tears in the wall paper from items being placed against or hitting the walls. The workout room had 3 treadmills with two marked as out-of-order. With all of this said, I would actually prefer to stay here vs. several other "nicer" facilities just based on location and atmosphere. The restaurant had great food and the views from the balconies are great in either direction.

We arrived late Saturday night after being stuck in an aircraft for 10 hours. The staff got us checked in and got us off the bed. The night valet was super nice as well. Proof and Provisions' bartenders ensure that their place is a great way to grab a quick bite, a good drink, and respite from the heat. The valets, Jeremiah, Naria, Garfield, and Frank were quick to ask questions and lend a hand when we were leaving. If we head back this way, we'll be staying here again!!

The hotel was just ok. For the price, we expected better accommodations and a cleaner environment. Check in was great, the lobby was clean and the staff was friendly. We stayed on the 11th floor and as soon as we exited the elevator, the smell of cannabis was overwhelming in the hallway. It stayed that way the entire stay. I mentioned it the staff and was told that they cannot be responsible for what people do inside of the room. I disagree and felt that I was dismissed and it was acceptable to smoke cannabis in your room. The room was medians did not have anything different than a Marriott or Hilton. The valet was not worth $38 a night either. Overall it was a disappointing stay. Do not waste your money on a boutique hotel that is really not.
