My wife and I thought we would get away for a 2 night getaway. We had looked at pictures of the suite before we booked the room. Very deceiving to say the least. We checked into room 200 on July 11, 2022. The room was definitely not as described. Also, the hotel is under major renovation until November. You will see by the attached pics of the room. Striker plate falling off main door, couch looked ragged. Chair was dirty long with carpet, bathroom light did no work...had lamp to light up, walls were dirty, no smoke detector in bedroom, Crystal's in side dresser along with burn marks... meth??? Obviously did not touch. Plus we were charged a 50.00 hold for incidentals and the front desk clerk said, you should see what the charge the locals. Hopefully this hotel will look much nicer after renovations. And to finish, they advertise a ho breakfast...if they call waffles and toast a hot breakfast....NOT. Women's bathroom was not being tended to in the 2 nights we were there. Could go on and on, but I am sure you all get the point.…
Hotel is a little older and needs somw touch ups. It was quiet and safe. The staff were helpful and friendly. Didnt get a chance to get the breakfast but had good choices. Room was clean. They were outside every day cleaning up the outside.
I am a businessman, I travel more than I’d like too, was left no choice but to stay here, I tried to get out of this reservation once I entered my room, I ended up sleeping in my car! From the management to the owners, to the staff, you all should be ashamed of yourself for even keeping this hotel open, Remodeling won’t help! Everything about this poorly run, definitely not clean hotel is DISGUSTING! I was told they are rebranding by the front desk, so beware, remember the address!! They need to bulldoze the entire place and rebuild!! Drugs, Thugs, and lots of Bugs is what they should name this place!!!
It’s hard to know where to start. Check in was ok. Until we climbed the stairs with all our stuff to find the keys didn’t work. 3 trips to desk before maintenance let us into the room. The furniture was worn out. We covered the sofa before we’d sit on it. You’d think a suite would be nice? No. There was no light in the vanity which is in the hallway near the bath and the bedroom entrance. Bulbs were missing, light cover was under the vanity. The first morning there was no hot water. Breakfast was just ok. They obviously allotted 3 sausages and 6 biscuits with 4 eggs. When that ran out we waited for the staff to finish their morning FaceTime with her grandchildren. So cold showers and we left for the day. Day 2. Makes you wonder why we stayed? We used Choice Privilege points and they’ve already taken all our points. The exit doors were broken, only way out of the building was the lobby doors. Fire hazard you think? Yes they should have been closed during renovations. After 4 days of no service, rundown dirty hotel, we were told there were no charges so we didn’t need a receipt. Later we noticed multiple charges on our credit card. 2 $50 charges were reversed after about a week. A $25 plus tax charge for our certified ADA compliant service dog has yet to be refunded. After multiple contacts from the general manager assuring me the charges were being removed and my choice points refunded nothing has happened. Now I’ve been contacted by a “regional” manager telling me the GM is no longer there. My best advice is stay away from this hotel. The fraud that we have suffered is a lesson learned. This is just how Choice Hotels operate. Don’t stay there!…
My family and I were in town for my daughter's graduation from SCAD the weekend of June 4th, and we had reservations for the nights of the 2nd and 3rd. The outside of the hotel looked fine, and the staff was helpful enough at check-in. As we made our way to our room, it was obvious that updating was long overdue and that renovations were in progress. What stood out much more, though, was the dense odor of weed being smoked in various rooms throughout the building. When we arrived at our room, it became even more clear that the cost far outweighed the value of the accommodations. Stains on the walls and ceiling, burns and holes in the bedding and random plumbing pipes sticking out of a wall next to one of the beds were noticed right away. The cherry on top of the whole experience was the used condom we happened upon outside the rear entrance the next morning. We canceled our second night and went elsewhere. Avoid this establishment if at all possible.…
Room had obviously NOT been cleaned, after the previous guest had checked out. Crumpled tissue in the bathtub, food on the floor, stains on the pillow cases, cigarettes left on the balcony. Toilet handle was broken, but staff did quickly fix it. In hindsight, I should've just spend the extra money to stay in downtown instead
Don’t stay here. Just sleep in your car if you have to. That’s what I should have done. Very dirty hotel. Carpets looked to be never vacuumed much less scrubbed. Heavy smoke smell throughout that gave my asthmatic son lots of breathing difficulty. Just terrible.
Picked hotel based on price and location. Booked a room a few weeks ago and tried to check in and come to find out it got canceled by manager without any call or email. After reading these reviews, she may have done me a favor.
Don't do it. There are no hot tubs. There is no full breakfast. The rooms are dated and not well maintained. Mold, rust, etc. The hotel smells of cleaning products. I just about broke my neck because the toilet seat was loose. The one bright spot, the staff was wonderful.
You would be better off sleeping in your car. Booked a last minute night here at Clarion since a lot of other places in the surrounding area were either full or ridiculously high priced. I should have read the reviews. I did not. I quickly scanned the photos online and it didn't look too bad so I figured it was okay for 1 night. WRONG! WRONG! WRONG! 1st warning hint should have been that they "had plenty of available rooms". The only positive thing I can say is that Charmaine? at check-in was nice and courteous the whole time. I get my room keys. My family and I walk down the hall to our room. I start noticed some of it was in a stage of remodel (painting/missing trim/ect). Based on some reviews I've read since, I wonder how long it's been in "the process of remodeling". Lobby looks decent (which is all I seen when checking in). Back to the hallways. The carpet is very dirty and threadbare some places. The hall has a strange odor (smoke, weed, mold?) At my room door, the key doesn't work. I think I hear a TV. Thinking it was coming from a neighboring room, I try the key again. The door lock clicks from the inside. I head back to report that she must have written down the wrong room number because that room is occupied. She looks puzzled at her computer. According to her info that room is supposed to be empty. She apologizes and gives me a new room # and keys. The room reeks of smoke (maybe weed). Back to the desk. (I should have left but figured I'd give them 1 more chance since those "could have been coincidental mistakes). "Maybe the 3rd time would be the charm" I said. Wrong! On my 3rd attempt, key in hand, I opened the door to find an occupied (or not cleaned) room. The bed is disheveled and is setting crossways in the room. There is a strange sound (almost like snoring) coming from somewhere. I walk far enough to see if the TV was on. It wasn't. I bolted for the door. 🏃I have no idea if someone was passed out sleeping on the floor on the other side of the bed or what that noise was. By this time I'm totally freaked out and DONE. My family returns to the front desk. I report my findings. She apologizes and says "she needs to figure out who is there". 🥺 She asks if I want to check out and have a full refund on my card - which I of course agreed to. (I wouldn't have stayed if she wouldn't refund the money) I found another hotel not far away with an available room. More expensive, but I didn't care. I've stayed at a decent amount of hotels, but none ever gave me the woolies like this Clarion. Did I say run away?? FASTER!!…
