It was hard for me to pick an overall rating. The rooms are very nice and spacious and overall it's a nice-looking property with a pretty view. But one of the things it overlooks is the MECU Pavillion concert venue. It is after 10pm on a Tuesday night and I need to be up by 5am but my room is vibrating with the noise from the rock concert that is going on. If you happened to be here on a night that a band you liked was playing and you didn't have to get up early, you might consider that a plus. In this case, I do not. Also, limited food availability in the hotel, but lots of restaurants nearby.

We didn’t have a reservation for our Friday night stay and I was hoping beyond hope that there was a room available. We walked in and spoke with Karl and he was so gracious to give us a beautiful room on a high floor with a spectacular view. Lucky for us they did have a room with 2 Queen beds available. We are Bonvoy and AAA members and it does pay in the long run, especially on the pocketbook. Our bed was so comfortable and the view was the best! I’m in love with this stay at Marriott Waterfront and the city of Baltimore. Thank you, Karl, for your hospitality.

Check in was great with a Marriott Bonvoy upgrade, but the stay went downhill from there. Taking the elevator to my room on the 21st floor, the elevator came to a stop somewhere around the 16th floor and would not travel up or down. After a few minutes, the lights went out in the elevator car, leaving me some 16 floors up and in complete darkness. After several minutes and a phone call to the hotel operator, pressing the Lobby button returned the elevator to the ground level. This happened AGAIN the next day, in a different elevator car, but this time returning the lobby was quicker. VERY alarming. My room seemed reasonably clean, but it was disconcerting to find when I first arrived in the room that the toilet had not been flushed. Yuck. I was disappointed to find the hotel pool had been closed - seemingly not COVID-related, as it is now a storage area. The outdoor terrace is also closed. The fitness room equipment is NOT clean and it appears the fitness center gets little attention from hotel staff. I attend a conference at this hotel annually, and have always enjoyed my stay in the past. This year was disappointing.

The Bellhop, Frank, was great! But, everything else was very poor. I would not recommend this hotel. The hotel-keeper appeared to have slept in her clothes and acted as if I was interfering with her and taking up her time, the room smelled like a gym, the morning bar service can't even simply make a cup of coffee right while charging excessive fees (3 times got it wrong!), the dining restaurant has NO service so I got up and left because the waiters and waitresses would rather socialize with each other without it even being crowded, and so I called for room service to get something to eat for dinner but I got no answer, so I went to sleep without having any dinner. How are you supposed to have dinner? Horrible!

Waterfront hotels and restaurants tend to be overpriced and low in amenities or service, this Marriott is no exception. We were there to attend a wedding and did not stay overnight, mainly due to the price point. During the times of pandemic, many businesses do not have well trained staff, we experienced that here as well. Dinner tables and buffet lines were poorly serviced with hardly anyone showing up at times. I asked quick questions to couple of personnel, those were simply ignored. Self parking is either in a third party owned garage, $25, or valet paeking, $46. Self parking happens at "Public parking", which is on the 5th and 6th floor of the garage, those floors are not even reserved by the hotel. Parking on lower floors will invite a tow truck, I was told by a passerby, we must choose the 5th or 6th, but that important info was not shard by the hotel reception when I called them twice. There is not even a single car park with disable parking tag owned by the hotel, shame on them. A room typically costs $300+ incl taxes. If I plan to spend a night at Baltimore harbor, I'll look for something that costs half as much and is just steps from the harbor.
