The DWIGHT D, a city house hotel, is Philly’s original, and most loved boutique hotel. Located on 16th Street, just below Locust St., in center city Philadelphia, PA. Why the name? The property was formerly the headquarters for The Eisenhower Fellowships organization. Over 60 years ago Dwight D himself requested a Philly location for the newly founded organization bearing his name and 256 S 16th St was selected. Today we remember their time at this address with our name, The DWIGHT D. The DD offers luxury accommodations in an historic 1850s brownstone which was completely remodeled in 2014 and underwent a second round of renovation in 2020. The DWIGHT D's location in the heart of Philadelphia makes it an ideal hotel destination for both tourists and business travelers-the hotel is two blocks from The Avenue of the Arts and The Kimmel Center, two blocks from Rittenhouse Square, and within walking proximity to The Philadelphia Convention Center, Philadelphia's historic district including Independence Mall and the Liberty Bell, and Philadelphia's visual arts district including the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Barnes Foundation, and the Rodin Museum. The DWIGHT D has 11 guest rooms each with a private bathroom in various sizes from Queen to King to a large King Suite. The hotel also features adjoining restaurants La Viola and Monk's Cafe, a lounge, conference room, private dining room, and large landscaped courtyard. The DWIGHT D is the perfect place to host group get-a-way weekends combining hotel accommodations with theater, shopping, spa, and dining excursions. In addition to room accommodations, the DWIGHT D offers unique options including rental of the property as a whole to sleep up to 22 or rental of event and venue space.

This is the third time we have stayed at the Dwight D and we will stay again. The rooms are super comfortable and stylish. The hosts, Vittoria and Ken, are like family now. They go out of their way to make sure you have what you need to have a great stay in Philadelphia. This includes help in arranging restaurant reservations and even arranging a special chef meal at the hotel for our small group. We definitely recommend this hotel.

Rooms are very comfortable, the owners are extremely helpful, staff are friendly, amenities such as filtered water and morning coffee & tea were much appreciated. On this particular occasion, we were able to partake of a chef’s table dinner event, which was fabulous. It all bodes well for the planned expansion to include a bar and restaurant. Also, the location is fantastic for visitors wanting to visit attractions such as the Rodin museum and Philadelphia museum of fine arts. Can’t say enough about the Dwight!

Owners Vittoria and Ken always go out of their way to accommodate you in their beautifully appointed boutique hotel! But this time they organized a fabulous private dinner with a talented young chef John Boswell! Outstanding!

Great Hotel. Rooms were clean, bedding superb and smartly decorated. Best part were the owners of the hotel which played an integral of the stay and made you feel like you were home. We lived in Philadelphia for 30 years without knowing about the small boutique hotel. When we go back, and we will, we will definitely stay here.

The Dwight D is one of those of those "charming havens" that travelers every once in awhile trip upon. It formally housed former President Dwight D. Eisenhower's offices - hence, the name. The owners have particularly and expertly restored this lovely building - - creating rooms and a suite that embrace guests for a perfect Philadelphia stay. The owners are lovely, warm people, happy to recommend and otherwise direct guests into the nuances of having a wonderful trip - - whether business, or pleasure. We travel a lot and have done so for years. This is in "our top 5." Stay at The Dwight D if you want to completely enjoy your Philadelphia experience. The location cannot be beat! Cathie

Love this very special boutique hotel in Philadelphia. We have stayed here many times. the changed that have been made by adding the house adjacent to the original property are amazing. This time we had the large room on the top floor. So much space and stocked with anything you could possibly need for cooking, eating, and just hanging out. We'll be back.

Beautiful area and beautiful people running this hotel. Very complementary and helpful. Loved the tea, coffee, and wine. Comfortable room and quiet. The owner came outside when she saw us wandering around trying to find entrance. Helpful with places to eat and sight-seeing if requested. Had umbrellas available. Beautiful patio to relax. Will definitely be back!

I attended a work event at the hotel. The garden patio is absolutely beautiful. A wonderful place to spend the afternoon. The lunch was delicious. I was able to view a hotel room and I wished I was staying the night. I will definitely be coming back! Fantastic!

Really nice boutique hotel owned and run by Victoria and Ken. The setting is private. The room/bath was spacious and elegant. There are excellent restaurants adjacent to and just around the corner from the hotel. Parking is close, affordable, and convenient. We had a great stay and highly recommend. Will be staying there on our next visit to Philadelphia.

I stayed at the Dwight D and forgot my phone charger in the room. The proprietors were very kind in mailing it back to me -- all the way to Canada. It's the kind of personal touch you can only find in a boutique hotel like this.
