Sent email first to manager due to slack of response after over two weeks I decided to post review. Great location but the staff is rude, lazy and they make mistakes that can cost you dearly. I wrote to manager and received simple reply but he is no rush to answer me or correct issues. Just blowing smoke you know where. Guess he reflect the do not care attitude of his staff at this property. Was there for less than for less than 12 hours for a two day stay and could wait to leave. Suggest you use the,Marriott which is next door. It appears they take advantage and make excuses for their own incompetence and it costs the guest in the end. I was asked to leave lobby because it was closed for cleaning at 3 am . Nighttime desk person was kinda rude,in the process. I never heard of a lobby closing. All they were doing was vacuuming. I was seating peacfully looking at my iPad no noise no nothing. Could not sleep and did not want to wake my wife up. That happened right after I was asked to leave non functioning 24 hour business center mentioned under hotel amenities. . No chairs near elevators either, only in lobby. Here is a good one and it makes you feel not so safe. So on Saturday 2/24 the 6th floor maid staff left our room door ajar all day while we were out because the deadbolt was latched but door was not closed so cleaning people could gain access to room easily. When we mention we were out of tissues at 9:30 am when we were leaving, she simply handed us the box, (she had not serviced our room yet). We had to stock the tissue box ourselves walking all the way back down the hall to the room. Issues at check in with very rude bell hop staff. This process is in much need of improvement. They are 2-3 staff standing in lobby entrance taking to each other and they don’t even attempt to open the door as you enter. They are just rambling on how they hate it there, well I did too. The unadvertised parking prices are terribly high very inflated. Parked myself for less tha half the cost at same place they would take your car. Had no idea who was taking car and why they sort got in expecting me to use their parking system, but I knew better. Then they attempted to charge me $73 a day for parking at checkout. When I challenged them they said carhop made the mistake. This car park mistake happened to two others in our party I knew of. They caught it too. If you park yourself it’s $30 per day at same garage. That’s $60 vs $140! for two days beware. Could not figure why my initial card charges were $150 more than room rate and desk person seemed annoyed when I ask BECAUSE THEY FAILD TO EXPLAIN THE DAMAGE FEE DEPOSIT. Really for a $300 night hotel. A feared revenge from them so only posted this bad review after funds are returned. Truthfully I was with a wedding party and feel gouged on pricing just because they can get away with that I guess. For instance my room price would suggest a complimentary breakfast when compared to online offers, but it does not. Restaurant does not open until 8 am either. Person at desk checking me in did not tell me anything about the hotel services and used wrong card number for my check in which I provided, causing the person who made the initial reservation to have their card cancelled. I gave the front desk clerk my credit card twice and he really did not know what he was doing. No business being at the desk making mistakes like this. Note no complains about terrible water pressure, lumpy beds, lack of pillows, stained worn out rugs but they exist. The free bikes ( they are placed by another company throughout the city) and the take credit for them. They are a joke and so is mention of free yoga mat. Well at least the decor is nice and free coffee in am. Elevators worked well too.

Hotel's Favorite
The entire hotel is beautiful. From the outside, the reception/check-in area, and the guests' rooms. We had the pleasure of working with Chauncey. Chauncey was professional, engaging, and funny! The bed was extremely comfortable and the pillows were fluffy.

Our first impression of the hotel was with reception and they set the bar high. Welcoming, personable and helpful. Room was decorated in a whimsical, but comfortable manner. Immaculately clean! Bed was firm, but still provided a decent nights sleep in luscious bedding. Nice bathroom amenities. Lively bar with great bartenders. I feel like the bar/restaurant area could be more intimate and relaxing in it's set up and decor. Less than a ten minute walk to several of the most historic places and best dining in the country. I'm looking forward to my next stay.

Business travel can be soul crushing...but not when you stay at the Hotel Monaco and are fortunate enough to be greeted or checked in by hotel concierge Roshid Milledge! He is right there with a smile and a joke, and always goes above and beyond to make sure your stay exceeds your expectations. I know this is a cliché of hotel marketing, but I have really come to feel that the Monaco is my 'home away from home'. I come to Philly often for work and wouldn't stay anywhere else. Big kudos and thanks to Roshid and the rest of your excellent staff!

The hotel is lovely, quaint and well positioned. You are literally in the middle of so much American History. We overlooked the national park housing the liberty bell and Constitution Hall. Loved being so close to so much American History. The rooms were big and well appointed. Not sure if it was my room, but it could use to be air out a bit. Otherwise it was very nice. I appreciated their 5pm Wine half hour. Nice touch. The Breakfast at the on-site Tavern was very good with good service. Overall, loved our stay, would recommend and would come back. The biggest draw back was parking. We parked around the corner at a local public parking. It was about $30 a day. But loading and unloading in front of the hotel is a bit of a problem. The Valet staff seem to not to want allow non valet people to simply load and unload. Each time they gave us a bit of a hard time to simply take 2 mins to unload / load. Think they need to better accommodate folks in this regard.

Another wonderful stay at the Monaco. Stopped in for one night one a long drive along the east coast and was happy I stopped in Philly. I'm a repeat customer because every time I visit, I have a wonderful stay. Chauncy as always is a national treasure and the rest of the staff was amazing. From the front desk giving my pup treats, the lovely man working the valet to the servers in the restaurant, everyone was wonderful. Breakfast was awesome, room was spotless, my dog loved the bed and bowl etc. I'm coming back in two weeks for a girls trip because we love the hotel so much!

Had the most amazing dinner experience at the Monaco's Red Owl. A few of us ordered the Valentines Day 3 course meal. All of us were blown away by the service and the food. Josie really knows her stuff and had a wonderful personality. Josie gave fantastic service. She answered all our questions thoroughly, checked on us regularly, never let out glasses go empty and never let an empty dish clutter our table. Dan, the Manager, was very personable and attentive also. All 5 of us were asking him how the fingerling potatoes were made (best potatoes ever), what spices were in other dishes. All of us LOVED our meal. WER already started telling about when we could come back to eat again.
