Le Méridien Philadelphia garners appreciation for its prime central location, often regarded as ideal for exploring nearby historical sites and indulging in local cuisine. Guests have called out the hotel's service as welcoming and professional, noting the staff's friendly demeanor, though there have been occasional mentions of slower service. Despite the charm and cleanliness that many reviewers highlight, some guests report dissatisfaction with additional charges and the value proposition, alongside sporadic grievances about room maintenance and dated decor.

I had a one night stay here during COVID lock down part deux. The story story is that it's a decent hotel (of which Philly doesn't have a lot - even the so-called four and five star places tend to be disappointing). I had a restful stay and would stay here again.
My plane got in early and I got to the hotel before noon. I was able to check in upon arrival (although the hotel was pretty empty due to the lock down).
I believe this building used to be a Y. (I formerly worked a lot at City Hall and my boss used to go to the gym here daily, I think.) Inside, they connected the building with one next door by putting a glass roof over the two (common in Philly). I think some rooms have a view of the inside of the hotel for this reason, which I generally find depressing and do not like. I didn't get a room like this, but you may want to ask that they not give you such a room if that bothers you. The flip side is that a room with an interior view can feel safer, although this isn't an unsafe hotel.
The view from my room (709) was over the back of the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, which is directly beside the hotel, and the PA Convention Center. Better to look at PAFA from the front, which you can't do from this hotel, but it was interesting and very quiet.
The room has a safe and fridge in a nice armoire with lights that turn on only when it's open. If there's one complaint, it's that my room was smaller than the ones in the pictures and didn't have a lot of seating - just a desk chair. So, no yellow arm chair or end of bed bench like in the pictures. Also, not enough clean towels.
The remote was sealed in a newly changed plastic bag so I didn't have to worry about touching it. The door to the room and the fridge were sealed with tape to signal that they had been cleaned since the last occupant.
This hotel is close to everything. I'm here to do journalism work unrelated to the pandemic, but noticed young people here are still going out in droves on a Friday night, even with the renewed lock down. The plazas around City Hall are filled with ice skaters and people dining at the holiday village. The streets in the neighborhood of 13th and Chestnut to 13th and Spruce were filled with mostly young whites eating outside. I'm not going to judge because someone has to keep the Philly restaurant scene going and it is outside. Much of Center City is within walking distance of the hotel.
I would stay here again.

We stayed for one night and it was a great location - lots of great restaurants, coffee shops, and sights to see nearby. The traffic around it was hectic, but the parking garage we used (Love Park Garage) was very affordable, only $14 for overnight.

Room was beautiful and clean, comfortable bed, great shower and delicious-smelling complimentary toiletries. We ordered room service and while there weren’t many vegetarian options, the linguine and harvest salad were both delicious.

This was our first stay at Le Meridien. We like to peruse the "upscale" hotel offerings when we visit Philadelphia for just a night or two and decided to try LM. The location is, of course, wonderful. The bed very comfortable, and inexpensive parking is not too far away. The room had lots of sanitization stickers and seals which was comforting, but no coffee maker, which was surprising. Furthermore, we had some issues with the service. When i called the hotel to advise we'd be checking in a bit late in the evening, I was advised "King rooms are going fast so we cannot promise you one" (despite that we prepaid for it) and their excuse was "we cannot control the booking sites." Well, that led me to drop everything, leave the family at a gathering, and go check in. Next hiccup. The line for the front desk was long. That's because they guy in front of me wanted to buy a bottle of wine, but wasn't sure which one and could they recommend one. And the guy in front of him apparently wanted an extra glass for his room. And the guy in front of him wanted a cup of coffee!!! (because there are no coffee makers in the rooms) So, those of us waiting to check in had to, well, wait. Last hiccup might have been the most indigestible: the "foyer" area between the lobby and entry is a small, warm space of about 25 square feet. Everyone has to go through it to get in and out of the hotel. While we were there, it was usually holding 4 or 5 valet parking staff keeping an eye out for arriving guests and keeping warm. Wearing masks, yes, but still in a small space, exhaling air (let's hope) through which everyone MUST pass to enter/exit the hotel. And none of these people looked old enough to have been vaccinated yet. One of the front desk managers even joined in on the "get together" while we were checking out. We were pretty outraged at this ignorance to the situation (Pandemic? Hello?) but the last thing we wanted to do was go back inside to point this out. Good-bye Le Meridien. Lovely hotel. Sub-par service. Inconsistent pandemic accommodations.

Dear Julie L, Thank you so much for taking the time to post a review. I am delighted that you enjoyed our beautiful and centrally located hotel. I also want to assure you we take hygiene and cleanliness standards very seriously. Face coverings are required in all indoor public areas. You’ll also notice several enhancements to our cleaning practices throughout public spaces and guest rooms. These include: · Enhanced Public Space Cleaning. We have increased the frequency of cleaning and disinfection, especially in high-traffic areas like restrooms and elevators and providing more hand sanitizing stations. · Social Distancing Practices. You will see signage throughout the hotel promoting physical distancing and encouraging guests to stand at least 6 feet apart. · Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Associates will wear PPE face coverings and gloves based on the activities they are performing. All guests are required to wear face coverings in indoor public spaces. · Guest Rooms. Every guest room is thoroughly cleaned and disinfected between each guest. We take hygiene and cleanliness standards very seriously. Face coverings are required in all indoor public areas. You’ll also notice several enhancements to our cleaning practices throughout public spaces and guest rooms. The safety and security of our associates and guests is our main priority. Thank you and we hope to see you here with us soon in the near future.

Staying at Le Meridien was great! The King room was small, the premise was in COVID social distancing style and the lobby somewhat desolate, on purpose of course.
Our Valet service was great, the valet was friendly and helpful and communicative and made us feel comfortable while we had to wait for the car. The most helpful was Jose from Cuba.
The rooms were sanitized before we entered and had tape to demark whether the room had been opened or not. It was a really nice feature, as odd as it sounds.
The staff provided us with water downstairs when we needed it! That was great! because the room was empty of any food or drinks.

During Covid you can't expect everyone to be extra chipper, but the staff certainly tried their best! The room was clean and many safety precautions were in place. Rooms were sealed with stickers after cleaning and guest were given rooms far apart. There weren't the same cozy comforts you would expect at a hotel, but I expect they simply wanted to give everyone as much distance as possible.

We stayed at Le Meridien in Philadelphia because it was a recommended by the university for graduation weekend. We initially did not complain because I was graduating with my Master's degree and did not want to ruin the weekend. We booked two rooms and when we went to the rooms originally we were underwhelmed, because we stay at Marriott properties often and this was not the quality that we were used to. The rooms both could have been vacuumed and dusted again. The sheets in one room were dirty, we called the front desk and they said they would take care of it, it took more than an hour for them to come, and when they did, they just dropped off clean sheets and did not take the dirty ones. I called and requested an iron because the room did not have one so I could press my gown for graduation, it took 4 hours for them to bring it. Thank goodness my son was right next door and I borrowed his. There was mini bar that was plugged in and did not work, so we requested a refrigerator and it was delivered by the time we came back to our room. On day 2 the toilet began to make a loud weird sound that was annoying, however it did not do it every time it was flushed. On day 3 we also had a huge cockroach appear in the bathroom (I have a picture but will not post it). The valet service was great in theory, however on multiple times when we got the text, we would go down and the car was not there and once we were double parked/blocked in and could not get out. The price of valet service was $65 much higher than we have ever paid at a Marriott property, we usually pay $25 with in and out service. The room was functional but the cleaning staff needs to pay more attention to detail the towels were clean but the wooden under sink rack was dusty and dirty. The hotel has great charm, the front desk was friendly, and the location was great, either the price needs to be lowered or the cleaning team needs to be retrained on the basics. This was not the Marriott quality that we have grown to love.

This stay was truly exceptional, and I have been an elite member since 2006, staying with Marriott in over 20 countries. We stayed at the Le Meridien during during the peak of COVID and lockdown. The staff was wonderful and very professional from initial contact via phone / email with Tanika throughout our entire stay during such a difficult time in the city. We were given a confirmed upgrade in advance to a two bedroom suite with our Platinum status, which was very helpful given we have a toddler that doesn't sleep well and we were there for several weeks. We had multiple family members visit us and each was upgraded to a nice one bedroom suite. The communication from the staff was impressive with many new restrictions on movement each day. I wish I remembered everyone's name. Vivian, Katie, Julia and Tanika were very responsive, proactive and thoughtful. The housekeeping team and building engineers were always there as soon as we needed them and did a great job. The housekeepers were very sweet and even organized my son's toys, and the building was in great shape in general. The hotel feels boutique with unique details. The restaurant waitstaff and bartenders took great care of us when the restaurant was still open. Everyone was very kind to our son. We can't thank everyone enough for all of the things that made our stay easier during a personally difficult time. There are a lot of Marriott properties in Philadelphia, including several we have stayed at before, but we will only stay at the Le Meridien in the future!

I wrote this to Wilson the GM when he asked about my stay so I thought I'd share it,

"Everyone was pleasant but I was surprised how small the room was considering we used a couple upgrade certificates on it, also the amenities for a titanium elite member were relatively poor. No lounge, we were not offered water when we arrived, and the voucher for the breakfast is pitiful since you must get the continental breakfast and can't apply those funds to a more expensive meal. It was such a poor value we didn't use it the second day and opted instead to walk and get a breakfast at the market (Reading Terminal) I would have a hard time recommending this hotel to any elite member that didn't really need to be in that location."

Great location! Very close to city hall and walking distance to reading terminal market. Rooms are sealed after cleaned and sanitized.
Valet parking is pricy, I would recommend buying parking tickets ahead of time for love park garage, much more affordable and the exit is just adjacent to le meridian.

My wife and I get away at hotels frequently and let's just say, the more hotels we visited, the more we got the feeling "ya seen one, ya seen em all." Well, we felt this way right up until we discovered Le Meridien, Philadelphia. Check in was a breeze, the restaurant area has a magnetic pull. The entire property, including our room was clean and well organized. Really like the seal on the door, which shows no one entered the room after it was cleaned, and the seeing the tv remote wrapped in plastic always gives me an extra level of comfort. Although we only stayed for one night this time, we will be staying here again, and again. Thank you so much, for being grandiose.

Plenty of places to dine in the area. This is Center City and feels like a mini version of New York. Plenty to see and do!

Good morning and thank you for your question. We can absolutely hold your luggage for a few hours. In terms of transportation, the hotel does not provide a shuttle to the airport, however there are plenty of options, Uber and Lift being the most popular ones. I hope this helps. See you soon!!!If you have any other questions please let us know, we are here for you. Best regards, Wilson A. Bravo, GM
