At the Philadelphia Marriott Old City, guests have found the rooms to be spacious and comfortable, with options catering to those seeking either tranquility or picturesque views. Its location is a highlight, nestled close to Penn's Landing and various historic attractions, yet maintaining a peaceful environment. The hotel's cleanliness is consistently lauded, with particular attention to its pristine common areas and facilities. Amenities, including the luxurious bathrooms and fitness center, enhance the guest experience, though some visitors have noted the additional charges detract from the hotel's overall value. While the ambiance of the hotel receives compliments for its charm, the service has received mixed reviews, with the staff being friendly but occasionally slow.

This was my first adventures out from the pandemic. The hotel is centrally located and within walking distance to many historical sites, pubs, and restaurants (many had outdoor seating - which was a requirement), and sanitizers located everywhere in the lobby and floors. The rooms were nice...although my room was not serviced well...floor was never vacuumed. The only benefit to the hotel I found was the location. Hotel has no operating morning restaurant, parking is a joke at $50/night, $5 cup of coffee at mini Kiosk, and no benefits for Marriott Bonvoy Members. Staff was nice and helpful. My suggestion not worth paying the Marriott price for just a room. There are many economical hotels in the area which probably offer just as nice rooms.

The staff was extremely helpful and friendly, that was a huge part of why the rating wasn't somewhat lower for this stay. One night, we ordered pizza for our team but the lobby was full, so they let us use an empty banquet hall, which was definitely above and beyond. The location is also great, as it was just a short walk from most of the touristy things we wanted to do, and we could walk to the Convention Center in less than 30 minutes, which was fine. The lower score comes from the room itself. Noise was a significant problem, to the point that it was hard to sleep, and for an athlete that had to compete in an early morning competition, that is something to consider for future visits. Inside the room, the air conditioning was very noise, actually sounding like it had a popcorn popper inside it. Our room was on the highway side, and the noise of cars racing on the road at night was extremely loud. There was also a wedding on Saturday night, and even though it was three floors below, it sounded like we were in the room with them. Others from our group who stayed on the other side of the hotel said that the noise from the bar kept them up, so complaining about the placement of the room didn't appear to make a difference, which is why we didn't. We also had to prompt multiple times every day to get towels, which was a bit annoying. On the day of our check-out, I had to go down to the desk to ask again, which made a hectic morning a little crazier.
I might consider staying again if it was for the tourist attractions, but for a tournament, I think the inability to get a good night's sleep would drive me to another location.

We truly value you as our guest and appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. We are very sorry to hear that your stay was less than satisfactory due to the noise levels in the hotel from other guests and the HVAC unit. This property appears to be recently renovated and is just lovely. The rooms are nicely appointed and I found the beds to be very comfortable. The lobby is expansive and very welcoming. There’s a beautiful TV/media room with a huge projector which would great if you’re staying on property during a big game or something of that nature. The location is a little off the beaten path and I liked that very much, but expect to do some serious walking if you’re intention is to do some sightseeing. I loved that there were many great restaurants that were very close to walk to and that in the evening we weren’t trudging through the midtown area where the streets are so congested. It is important to note that although the website said that microwaves were in the rooms, they are not. There is one for guests’ use in the lobby, but it was a bit of a hassle when trying to just heat up a quick meal. The front desk staff was very helpful whenever I needed any assistance, but the valet could use a little “Guest Interaction 101” as they weren’t always very welcoming. Other than that, it was an enjoyable stay and I would definitely return.

This was an incredibly bad Marriott experience. I’ve stayed at Four Points with better service. Let’s get right down to why I will **never** stay at this property again:

Housekeeping

Towels are apparently stitched with gold because rooms simply aren’t serviced on the weekends. That’s right, you heard it the front desk said to me “housekeeping really doesn’t work on weekends, especially when we’re sold out.”

Wait, what?

Front Desk: “Unless you ask for housekeeping when they’re here early, early in the morning you won’t get service. Or you have to request daily housekeeping when you check in.”

Oh

Well why and I paying market room rates when I’m simply not getting the same service. I see Marriott is using COVID as an excuse to provide less services but charge the same or higher prices. Got it. This has seriously made me reconsider booking at a Marriott property in the future and I’ll consider that when comparing the points I get as a 7-year silver elite with Air BnB or another chain that actually cleans rooms and gives towels without special requests.

It’s 9:00pm and I’d like to go hang out with friends but waiting for housekeeping to provide me with towels for a shower for a dinner I was supposed to attend 30 min ago.

Beware friends when reserving here.

Dear simeonb889, Thank you so much for choosing to stay with us a couple of weeks ago and for taking the time to provide us with valuable feedback! Please accept our sincere apology that we did not provide you with an excellent stay and fell short of your expectations. I understand your frustration, and this is not in keeping with our usual high level of service. I am sorry for the inconvenience you experienced, and for us not communicating our services to you properly. We did not do a good job communicating with you that we do indeed have a full staff of Housekeeping on in the hotel on weekends. We have found in our the hotel and in many hotels and brands, that during Covid our guests prefer to decide if they want anyone to come into their room to clean and how much they would like us to do. I am not sure what happened during your stay and I agree that should not have occurred. I am sincerely sorry we dropped the ball on taking care of you. If I can be of further assistance, or you would consider giving us another chance to make it right, I would appreciate that. I truly appreciate the time you took to provide us with valuable comments so we can insure this does not happen in the future. Kind Regards

I needed a place to sleep during the day near my job. I checked w old city Marriott and they offered this. I had a 2 queen room. While the room very not large there was plenty of room to walk around the beds. There was an elevated bar area with a stool perfect for working on your laptop with 4 USB ports There was a small frig and keurig machine. I was up in the fourth floor and heard nothing. The bed was super comfortable. I had a large walk-in shower with sprayer. The bathroom in general was surprisingly large. My rate was for 6a to 4p. I spoke with the desk clerk and asked if I could stay till 5pm since my job started at 7pm. They were able to accommodate my request without any hassle. The lobby is spacious and well appointed. Unfortunately because of the pandemic the restaurant isn’t open but there is a nice Starbucks as part of the lobby. They have room service available 5p to 10 p.There are parking garages about a five minute walk away or valet is $50. The hotel is perfect if u want to see the revolutionary sites which are a few minutes walk or penns landing. There are restaurants again a few minutes away. The staff were very professional and polite. I appreciated their being willing to accommodate my stay request. Would def stay here again if I needed a hotel in Philadelphia

I stayed here so that I could hang out late in the city. I forget how large this hotel is but I somehow manage to turn the wrong way each time I stay here. I did a victory lap to my room. There are two sides of the atrium. You can look down on the hotel lobby. The walls have been painted or wallpapered, there are decorations on the corners that look like little gates or fences. It appears to be industrial chic. The color scheme is very warm. The room I stayed in was renovated since I last stayed too. The bathroom was nice. The closet is not a open unit, which I am not a big fan of but I have seen it in other hotels. There is also a coat hanger / decorative thing in the sleep area. The bed was comfortable and the bedding / linens were top notch and very white. I would recommend this hotel.

The staff was friendly and the infused water in the lobby was a nice touch. The toiletries are good too if you would like to pack light, they are scented.

We stayed here on a Friday night in Aug 2022. We were with 3 other couples and went to a concert at the Camden waterfront venue across the river. This hotel was a 10 min walk to the ferry that we took over to the concert, so it was in a very convenient location for this event. The hotel is in a quite part of the city and was in good condition. Parking was valet and check-in was easy. We were on the 4th floor in a king room. It was a nice size with a window looking out at the front of the hotel. The room was nicely equipped with a mini fridge, comfy bed, decent lighting, and all the necessary outlets for your devices. The bathroom was clean, and had plenty of counter space.
As a Lifetime Titanium Marriott Bonvoy member, I had access to the M lounge which was just off the lobby bar. At dinner time it had light snacks, waters, juice, chips, cookies, and some fruit (I did not see the breakfast offerings since we went out for brunch).
I did not partake, but I saw the hotel gym and it is huge. Lots of space an equipment. So if you were inclined to exercise you will be well taken care of!

Overall, this hotel was a nice experience and I will certainly consider staying here again, especially if I was to attend a concert in Camden again.

As a mariott bonvoy member im really disappointed. Stayed for the night and reserved a suite with lounge access. When reserving with lounge access you will only be allowed to eat in lounge for breakfast when the room amenities say complimentary breakfast.

I have traveled many places and staying in lounges you would expect a little more "upscale" then the $17 Continental breakfast they charge in the restaurant. I did not eat in the restaurant so I don't know what they served but I hope it is better than what they serve in this lounge. The eggs were hard yet watery the sausage was disgusting. Ended up having a bagel in a bag (couldn't even splurge for fresh bagels?l)

Also the Starbucks coffee is in an urn you do not get the fresh coffee that they are pouring fresh in the lobby

The room was "ok". There were stains all over the living room sofa and there was water in the middle of the entry way which we have no idea where it was coming from

The a/c unit ran all night sounding like toilet was constantly running.

The lights above the bed it took us a bit to figure out where the little black button was to turn the lights off.

(On the left side of the bed on the head board there is a little black button that blends so it is hard to see)

My family use to stay here years ago when it was the Sheraton and I will say this was really disappointing for a Marriot.

All in all not worth any of the upgrades. Just get a standard room and pay for the Continental breakfast. Seems like you're punished for upgrading

A good business hotel in an excellent location.
Stayed here for 5 nights and had a very comfortable stay. Room was large and well equipped. Rooms were cleaned daily which makes a nice change. Most hotels are not cleaning rooms (because of covid) but are not reducing prices….
There’s a good bar in a central location which makes for great networking. Recommended

After a couple of days of stay in the hotel, my room had not been cleaned. I heard some people out in the hallway and I saw a gentleman who I learned his name is Ron Jones pushing a cart and I asked him who I needed to talk for my room to be cleaned. He said I needed to schedule it with the front desk. A couple of minutes later he came back and told me that he had spoken with the lady responsible of cleaning rooms and she said she would come and clean it. Ron came and remove all linens and towels and then Jeannette Jamison came and apologize for not cleaning my room earlier but that it was not on her list. Both Ron and Jeannette were very kind and made sure my room was cleaned immediately. I really appreciated their service and willingness to go the extra mile. They could simply have said they would reporter to their supervisor and move on.
I called their supervisor James Delano to let him know how happy I was with Ron and Jeannette's service.

The products at that hotel were the "ThisWorks" brand. It's an extensive skin care line. However, the shampoo and conditioner is only made for Marriott. It's called the "In Transit Shampoo and Conditioner." They are out of it now, but normally you can purchase it for $56 for a set at the ShopMarriott website.
