The Bellevue Hotel boasts a prime location that guests love for its convenience and accessibility. However, visitors frequently express disappointment in the accommodations, describing the rooms as outdated and in dire need of a refresh. While the service receives accolades for staff friendliness, it's marred by slow and inconsistent responses. The hotel's atmosphere presents a dichotomy of charm and neglect, leaving guests with mixed feelings. Cleanliness and value are also areas of contention, with reports of unclean rooms and a sentiment that the high prices don't match the offered amenities and overall experience.

We chose the Hyatt Bellevue for a two night stay. The location was ideal since we had tickets to The Nutcracker at the Academy of Music (located less than 2 blocks away). From arrival to check out, the staff at the Hyatt Bellevue was excellent. Kerry at the front desk checked us in early, welcoming us as Discoverist Hyatt members and provided a voucher for 2 complimentary beverages at the Nineteen (XIX) Bar and Lounge. The dinner (although expensive) and service at the Lounge was very good. We did not eat breakfast at the hotel opting to dine at the nearby IHOP. The next day, we were able to heat leftovers in the common area microwave located in the Ice Machine room. The hotel has a fitness room (no pool) located at the lobby level. The connected Sporting Club is under renovation (anticipated to reopen Summer 2023). Our junior suite overlooking the Conservatory was clean and well appointed. Overall a wonderful stay!

The hotel is beautiful and very convenient, not just in terms of location but also because there are shops and a Starbucks in the hotel as well as countless stores of every kind within 5 minutes walk (pharmacy, grocery, luxury gifts, bookshops, excellent cafes and restaurants, etc. etc.). The staff are friendly and professional, the beds are comfy, the toiletries are good quality and the bathrooms have ceiling heaters in them, which is AWESOME. And the rooms have safes, the shutters on the windows were excellent at blocking the light, the closet was big.

Also, David Bowie stayed here in 1974!

The only complaint I have is this: chain locks on the doors?! Really?! I can't remember the last time I stayed at a business-class hotel that didn't have solid metal security latches on the doors -- the kind you can close when you're in the room and know that even someone with a key card cannot get in.

Hotel managers: If you want solo female travelers, if you want all the female lawyers and businesswomen traveling professionally, you need to bring your door locks forward from 1982 to 2020. Let me know when you've done so and I'll be back, because otherwise I really like this hotel.

There were hotels better situated to the Convention Center but this wasn't a bad walk. Plus you got to take in some of the City on the way back and forth. Hotel is old but serviceable. Make sure you are aware they charge $40 a day for self parking and $53 a day for valet. We booked a block of rooms for the team and never moved our cars in the "EMPTY" garage all weekend. Other than the ripoff parking fee like I said there are better options in the City but this one is serviceable. Located on a Main Street by the capital in the City so you get to hear all the drag racing of the four wheelers and motorcycles literally all night long. Friday night I felt like I was sleeping on the street with how loud it was until 4 a.m.

After 14 months without traveling my husband and I and two friends came to Philadelphia after being fully vaccinated to stay in two rooms at the historic Bellevue Hotel. The hotel and rooms were very clean and the staff friendly and efficient. The hotel itself was the root of our disappointment.

We entered from Broad Street only to be greeted by a gruff man behind a security desk at the end of a beautiful lobby telling us we’d come in the wrong door for the hotel. Turns out the hotel entrance is from the alley to the south of the building, sandwiched into a space between the hotel and a parking garage. To say the arrival experience was underwhelming is an understatement. A short flight of steps led to a small obviously historic space that serves as the lobby. It was unwelcoming (not a seat to be found if you were waiting for someone) and the new revolving door and check in desk were harsh modern additions that don’t work in the space.

Our rooms were on the 17th floor and the one we were assigned was tired and worn. The bed side tables didn’t match and the furniture was scuffed and scratched. The AC didn’t work well and stopped working altogether during the second night of our stay. The shower curtain was too short and water flooded the floor when we used the shower. There was no art and there were no window treatments behind shutters on the windows.

We knew the 19th floor dining room was closed because of Covid and understood that but the hotel offered breakfast delivery as an alternative. The $5.50 charge for delivery at a time when there was no other option in the building seemed an opportunistic grab at guest wallets.

I don’t know what the story is with this place - but it’s clear that Hyatt has run a once beautiful hotel into the ground. We won’t be back.

This is an award category 4 hotel, which after my stay, I found very hard to justify. Upon arrival (a bit earlier than expected) I was told that my suite was ready for me. The staff were all very nice and accommodating, so no qualms with them.

My main issue was with my suite. Upon arrival in the tiny bathroom I found someone else’s beard hairs and trimmings all over/in the sink, water stains on all of the chrome hardware and mirror, stains and (toothpaste, maybe?) on the sink surface, broken shades in the bedroom and living room, a table turned around with the back of it facing front, a busted bedside lampshade, a piece of garbage next to the bedside table, stains and dirt on the floor in the foyer, and a layer of dust covering any/all surfaces.

I don't know how this room passed inspection, or why you'd send a guest to this suite. One would think that during a pandemic (especially as a hotel/hospitality/service industry) you'd want to try to at least keep up the appearance of cleanliness hygiene and order, within your hotel's environment.

Aside form the suite I had the misfortune of staying in and cleaning myself—another issue was with the state of the hotel itself. I think there is a bit of an identity crisis happening, and it really just needs to fully commit to being a luxury hotel (and close for massive renovations and design and functionality updates) or stay its course (continuing down a derelict path). Everything is just kind of sad, old, tired looking, and outdated.

Given the state of things, and the "offerings" in the room (2 bottles of room temperature water, a dirty mini fridge with broken shelves and nothing in it, cheap coffeemaker with bad coffee and sweetener/creamer packets) I did not risk trying out the hotel's dining options.

We stayed in and attended a formal event at this beautiful, old hotel. It looks like a grand hotel of yesterday that has been converted and updated for mixed use, with hotel rooms on the upper floors and businesses and some retail on the bottom floors, but the beauty of the original architecture shows through everywhere. Our room was a mixture of old and modern, nicely commingled. A large flat panel tv was mounted on the wall, next to a large walk-in closet, big enough to change in. There was a fridge and coffee pot in the room and plenty of outlets, which are sometimes lacking in these refurbished old hotels. Everything worked and we we lacked nothing. The checkin was smooth and the staff friendly and helpful. We went up to the lounge on the 19th floor and enjoyed well made cocktails and our server was friendly, attentive and professional. We ate dinner in the elegant XIX restaurant and had a delicious meal. Our waiter was attentive, knowledgeable and our meal was nicely paced, without being rushed. We attended a ball in the grand ballroom, which was everything you would expect from a hotel like this: spacious, with huge chandeliers, a large dance floor and a large, beautiful balcony, accessed via an elegant staircase. And, of course, it was nice to have a Starbucks accessible through the lobby.

My experience wasn’t the worst but for the amount of money that you pay it was not worth it. The positives is that this place is in the center of everything so you can walk pretty much anywhere. It’s a very elegant looking hotel from the outside and inside. The negatives were that the A/C did NOT work so staying in the summer really sucked!! The shower ran cold so I guess that made up for the super hot room. There was no remote in the room to watch tv and when calling the front desk it takes forever to get what you asked. You do not get cleaning service unless you ask and when you do, you have to wait and call 3-4 times for them to send someone up. I was told that I had gotten a room upgrade which turned out to be a really small, disorderly room. I was there to celebrate my birthday with my family and it just wasn’t the best experience.

I made a reservation at The Belleview Hotel to stay one night when I was on the road....I am an adventurous traveler and try to experience new stops, places and stays as I frequently travel (drive) the entire East Coast. The ratings of other clients as well as the location of The Belleview drew me to make a reservation. I was not disappointed. This stately, plush, iconic hotel oozed fine design, construction and taste from an earlier century. I was impressed by the staff who were very professional in greeting me and helping with check-in. Despite the current restaurant closure I enjoyed a small dinner in the large bar/lounge area, and the bartenders (Steve and George) were delightful. Cocktails were top-notch and I complimented the bartender's skill. My room (two queens with city view) was everything I needed; the room and bathroom was very clean, lots of towels provided. The bed and pillow comfort was perfect for me. Despite being in city-center, I found my evening rest to be quiet and uninterrupted. I can highly recommend this hotel if you want more of a plush experience with the proper amount of decorum. It is extremely helpful to have a parking garage attached to the hotel. I found the garage with ease, parked, and took the elevator directly to the hotel lobby. This is truly a plus for downtown Philadelphia. The Belleview is central to so many sights, shopping, restaurants! When I return to Philadelphia, this is the hotel I will stay at time and time again.

This hotel combines old school charm with modern amenities, I stayed a Sunday night before a business meeting, I went to check in at 1:00 PM and my room wasn’t ready expectedly. So I dropped the bags with bellman and went around to explore, around 4:00 came back to hotel and my junior suite was ready.

It wasn’t a true suite as the bedroom wasn’t separate from a sitting area, however it had a cool wet bar and a bar with three stools, and there was another space with a couple of chairs, there was plenty of space for them to have a couch or a big sofa, however this was the only negative I observed. See pictures attached to see what I mean.

My suite was quite and I don’t think I ever heard anything smile I was inside, the bathroom was well appointed, my only issue was the water pressure in the shower, the bathtub faucet there was excellent pressure but they have installed these low for shower heads which takes the Joy out of a nice shower.

The entrance to go the lobby and the valet is a little subdued, it could use a big sign I had to go around the block before I could figure out where hotel lobby was, as they’re not using the main lobby of the building for the hotel.

The restaurant was closed due to COVID, however they were serving breakfast via room service until 11:00 AM. I wish I had taken pictures of all breakfast items they were fantastic.

The valet is $52 dollars and there is a self parking option as well for I think $48, I used the valet. They were quick.

Travelling during Covid is always challenging, it's understanding that a place would be somewhat shut down. But I still expect the Hyatt standard.
Lobby was lifeless depressing, stick some plants in there or nice furniture to warm/welcome guests. Staff were less than eager to welcome. The room I was given was very dissapointing. First off the hotel is at the lowest occupancy so why not make sure your Hyatt member guests get a nice room or even an upgrade. I as a lone female traveller I was given a room by the elevator that faced a wall, it was tired and grim . (Note also there's no security fob in elevator so anyone can come up into the building) Tired old furniture, sparse creepy room. Great to have space that these old hotel rooms have and wonderful high ceilings but they magnify a creepy feeling when eveything is old and worn. After just one night i checked out early. Just trying to sleep with pillows that stank stale was enough for me, especially during Covid.
I should have noticed on here that there's hundreds of bad reviews, baffled that anyone could stay here, certainly not for the price point and certainly not someone used to the Hyatt brand. It really isn't a hotel/room that is worth paying over $90 a night I had paid double that amount, incredibly dissapointing.
Hyatt need to drop this location fast or renovate even quicker.
