We have stayed at this hotel on 6 previous occasions the last before this being 2019. We knew about the scaffolding and so accepted that. However, when making an initial enquiry about my booking when checking in, the receptionist was defensive and rude. Our room had a couple of issues which were rectified and the Managers were really helpful. It is a pity they didn’t use the time in the lockdown to freshen up the rooms. Being August, the temperatures are obviously very hot and humid in the city, and whilst our Aircon worked fine, there was always a kind of dampness to our clothing. Housekeeping was fine, room was serviced daily. This Hotel is fantastically placed for Restaurants, Subway Sun on 50th, Times Square, and most theatres. I do hop after the outside renovation is completed, they refresh the inside, as this hotel certainly deserves to be back on top!…
I've stayed at this hotel for 10+ years when visiting NY City. The location is fabulous, with a gourmet market next door and plenty of fast-arriving ride-hail cars. What really makes the hotel so special are the front-desk staff. They always recognize me, and take care of any requests promptly. These very nice people are like family, and the fact that it's the same staffing year after year tells me hotel management takes good care of its staff and they are happy to work there. Hopefully, new visitors to the hotel will meet Stanley at the front desk - he is king of good service. He really knows his guests and takes care of them as he would his family. A truly remarkable and wonderful person. My favorite room in the hotel is the corner king with queen bed sleeper couch. The room is large for a NY City hotel, and the views of the city life are always entertaining. The windows open, too. Convenient microwave and mini-fridge in the room. Housekeeping staff is cheerful and greets everybody. The hotel is not large by NY standards, but has a comfortable feel to it by not being too big. I'm glad the hotel has finally reopened after the pandemic caused so many hotel closures . Some changes have been made with room amenities, but this is common now throughout the Hilton chain due to the pandemic. If you really need a pen and note paper, for instance, bring your own - you won't find them in the room currently. My room definitely needed another lamp, which was eventually delivered when I requested it. There is one bar of soap for both shower and sink, not the usual two bars per room. The few items I needed in the room, such as extra towels, were brought by housekeeping upon request. The hotel is still a bit short on staff as the pandemic continues, so patience is good to have when requesting things. The hotel is being gently loved to death by its loyal customers, and I hope it will enjoy a renovation in the future. However, it's clean, all the basics are there, and the slightly dated furnishings and dark colors are a minor detail. The fabulous staff more than makes up for how the hotel interior appears now. I always feel protected at this hotel - the lobby bell staff and desk staff know their customers and make sure they are well looked after and safe, especially if one is traveling alone and going out for an event. I feel like a princess when I stay here!…
We stayed for 5 nights. Doormen, housekeeping and breakfast staff were great. Location was great. Convenient to subway and theaters. Room air conditioner did not function properly (room temp would not drop below 74) and the room was very humid. The bed sheets were damp from the humidity. We inquired at the desk and the engineer came up but declare there was a new filter in it and it should be working. Construction was very loud. Jackhammering started at 8:30 every morning and often continued through the afternoon. Water was also shut off for a few hours one day.
I booked this hotel for 9 nights including breakfast, which turned out to be very basic 1 juice, 1 fruit, 1 hot item, Tea or Coffee. The value of this breakfast I would say was worth USD 9.00 each not USD23.00 also the breakfast was not run by the hotel but a separate company the hotel manager told me, I made a complaint at the rudeness of the man serving the breakfast and was told they are not part of the Hotel staff. Basically don't waist your money on the breakfast it's better in McDonald's and cheaper. The hotel room was fine and the staff are very friendly on reception. You are close to time square and many locations are within walking distance. Lots of food choices nearby.
We arrived Friday afternoon to a sign that said the building was undergoing emergency repairs. The “emergency” that wasn’t disclosed up front included the construction of a 12 floor scaffolding. We couldn’t even hear ourselves speak in our room, as there was a construction worker drilling on the exterior just outside our window. Our family was left with no place to retreat to for children naps or recover from august temperatures. You don’t construct a 12 floor scaffolding overnight….
Location was great - four minute walk to go to theater - and was only a 20 minute walk from Penn Station. Unfortunately I had to kill about six bugs in the bathroom. Not sure if they were cockroaches, but made me very uncomfortable and for that reason I would not return. Also, construction on hotel was noisy.
We had no idea that the hotel had construction work going on outside the building until we arrived. By construction work I mean our room sounded like a jackhammer was operating inside our room. There were also workers walking on the scaffolding right outside our window which was unsettling. I think this would be a good place to stay otherwise; however, our visit was not at all comfortable due to the construction. So I would strongly recommend calling to confirm this is not ongoing if you want to stay here. It's frustrating that no mention of this is made on their website because it's very disruptive. I felt tricked because there were so many other hotels we could have chosen nearby.
I have booked a venue in this hotel, they took payment in advance and with 3 days before the event, they canceled the booking and didn't send me back the advanced payment. Bog shame for the name of Hilton
Not what you expect of Hilton Garden Inn Times Square hotel. Very rude, lazy and inattentive staff. Guest services didn’t care about needs of the customers. Every question to the guests service --- counted as an offense. Not a clean bedding and smelly room. All people ive met there were unhappy with services and were complaining to each other. This is unacceptable!!! I had to apologize for it explaining that it is not a common thing in the US hotels and especially in this area. SHAME!!! SHAME!!! SHAME!!!
Although construction is loud during the weekdays, the staff was fantastic and helpful. Room was perfect for what we needed and wanted. The location is the best. You are within walking of all the theaters, Times Square, Central Park, and Penn Station
