This hotel feels central to a lot of things/attractions on anyone's list to see in NYC. The metro, museums, central park, shops, retaurants, etc... are all within 5-10 minute walk (at a average pace). However, the hotel rooms are meh and the people who work there are hit and miss when it comes to getting help. Often times I was standing at the front desk and not helped. And it wasn't because I didn't come in demanding to be seen. One rep even said she saw me, but then forgot. LOL...I guess focusing on this other customer's business dealings with the manager was too juicy for her to pass up. And the room they had us in was the most sketchy room ever. DO NOT ACCEPT room 306: no chain to lock door, fridge doesn't close, smoke detector broken off and removed, tub spout broken out and hanging, attached room (to who? don't kno...so we propped a chair under the knob), no closet, instead a very banged up and very small armoire, and on and on. It was so sketchy that we recorded everything incase management tried to pin the damages on us. I suggest you do the same (for any of the rooms at the Bentley). Again, do not accept room 306 especially if you're female and by yourself. In the end, did I complain while there? No. I felt that if they ignored me when I was in front of them needing assistance then they certainly would ignore my request for a better room.

I stayed here with my husband a few nights because I had a surgery at the Sloan Robertson Center, which is right across the street from the Bentley. That was the best feature of the hotel, the rest of the stay was disappointing. This hotel’s entrance is small and the police barely give you enough time to get your luggage in and out of a cab before yelling at the driver to move it! We had to wait almost an hour for our room to be ready at check in. Supposedly the hotel was overbooked and they were having trouble getting rooms cleaned. The front desk people and the manager kept in phone contact about rooms as they came available; many other people were like us sitting in the lobby waiting for a room. Don’t expect any frills. You get a small refrigerator and 2 bottles of water a day for your resort fee. Because of Covid, they will clean a room every three days, but will bring you towels if you need them and empty your trash if you ask, thank you. There is nothing to eat or drink at this hotel but there is some sort of room service provided by an outside vendor. Most of the immediate neighborhood is parking garages. Thankfully I brought my own provisions. The lack of any sort of coffeemakers or coffee options at a hotel is annoying. We did find a charming old school bar that serves food, One Lenox, and there is a market across from it- these are a several block walk from the hotel. If you are having surgery at the Robertson Center, there is a very reasonably priced cafe for people accompanying surgical patients that serves breakfast and lunch. My husband spent a lot of time waiting around during my surgery and I will say the Queensboro bridge view room with the river view is quite nice, would recommend that, you can see interesting boat traffic. Would book again for the location but don’t expect much else.

I stayed here with 3 under 18s and the room was more than spacious enough for us. We really enjoyed our stay & if we return to New York I wouldn’t have an issue with staying in this hotel again. A short taxi ride to and from air ports & reception we’re happy to book cabs for us.

The giant single-pane poorly-sealed windows transfer the noise of the other guests like they’re sitting in our room yelling, in a really weird and awful way. Not to mention funneling all the traffic noise in. This isn’t regular NY traffic, this is “constant honking and revving of engines on approach to FDR parkway and the bridge” traffic. Basically like sleeping on top of a freeway on-ramp at rush hour all the time. The noisiest place I have ever stayed in New York by far. Woken up all through the night even with good earplugs. They have a nice website that leads you to believe this is a boutique hotel. The reality is it’s run-down and kind of mangy. The shower drips constantly, the sink basin is cracked, the whole bathroom looks last updated in the 90s. Maybe. NO COFFEE MAKERS, “due to Covid” but they don’t even require masks in lobby or in the tiny elevators. The beds are pretty darned comfortable, but good luck actually sleeping. Absolutely would not recommend. Sounds like we got off kind of easy compared to other reviews though. Please note we aren’t Midwestern farmers shocked by the big city or anything- we travel quite a bit and this isn’t our first visit here, we aren’t snobs but this is ridiculous.

We reserved a river view junior suite and were very happy with the room. A large perfectly clean room with a spectacular view of the river awaited us! It looked just like the room pictured on the website. Staff were friendly and we liked the mid-century design vibe of the lobby. Super great location for a visit to the Upper East Side without breaking the bank. No room service, but a great 24/7 diner 1-block away with FRESH SQUEEZED orange juice, yum!
