The Pierre, A Taj Hotel, nestled near Central Park, stands out for its prime Manhattan location and traditional elegance that many travelers find charming. Guests consistently commend the hotel for its cleanliness and exceptional service, highlighting the staff's professionalism and attention to detail. While the spacious and comfortable rooms are often praised, some guests feel the decor is dated and the amenities, including the breakfast, do not justify the premium price. Despite this, the old-world glamour and the hotel's atmosphere continue to draw guests seeking a luxurious New York experience.

There are not enough words to express how amazing this hotel and its staff are! The Pierre is a true gem in the crown of Manhattan, an absolute must stay!!! The rooms are spectacular, the bar a lovely little hideaway, the staff is beyond amazing, this hotel lacks nothing!

From entering the doors with the help of Devon and other doormen, you are quickly welcomed into a friendly, luxurious hotel experience amongst friends. Abraham at the concierge was so very helpful in suggesting dinner recommendations, Khady and Samantha in the elevators were such a joy to speak with, Paul the bartender, the kindest man with amazing cocktails, and truly every single member of the staff we interacted with were amazing!!! We truly felt we were speaking with friends our entire stay.

We hadn't even checked out of the hotel and were already thinking of when we can come back, and perhaps even having our wedding there!

There is no other option in New York - it's always the Pierre :).

This is clearly a classy, old style hotel. Service is formal but very good. Lifts are manned by uniformed operators. Rooms are high ceilinged, large and traditionally furnished (bed very comfortable).

However it is a tiny bit tired in some places. The aircon in our room was also pretty noisy (in fairness we switched rooms and it was fine in the new room).

It's definitely a very good hotel and I'd probably stay there again (my wife definitely would), but was left just a tiny bit disappointed given my pre-conception that it was a truly top global hotel.

My husband and I stayed at the Pierre with our two children this March. Ana Dekker was so helpful finding us the best connecting rooms. We arrived to find a cake for my husband's Birthday with a lovely note welcoming us back.
The friendly and kind elevator attendant, Khady, remembered my daughter from last Spring . We truly feel at home at the Pierre and are so grateful for the kind service that anticipates any desire. From housekeeping carefully lining up any stray cosmetics on a wash cloth and adding in little extras like a package of cotton balls, or using a band to clean up a long electronic charger by the bed.
We had to cut our visit short as New York was shutting down due to Corona virus and the staff was so helpful to ensure our safe departure. As soon as we are able to get back to New York from California we will return to the Pierre, I can't wait to be greeted by Khadi's cheerful "welcome to my elevator"

After 9 hour flights arriving at the hotel it started to go downhill immediately. We booked via AMEX Platinum We are fully vaccinated since January, had a PCR test prior to departure and had an email from the NYS Dept of Health stating 'Quarantine Not Necessary'. The young person at the reception informed us that because we were from Monaco (where we retired in 2014) we must be quarantined. Furthermore we were informed in the nastiest of tones that our room will NOT be serviced during our stay and our towels will be left outside the door. No making of beds, no vacuuming, no cleaning of the bathroom. Breakfast, included, was a cold box breakfast which never varied during our stay. Prisoners at Rikers eat better. The next morning an assistant manager called my wife and said we were 'rude' and he was debating whether or not to evict us. I went down and showed him the documentation in hand, vaccination certificated, PCR tests and NYS Dept of Health email. He then backed off and while not apologizing explained that the duty reception person was given 'confusing' instructions....Doesn't the customer always come first? We have stayed in Taj hotels in India, Mumbai is one of our favorites as is the Lake palace but never again outside of India !

Dear Guest, We have to follow the guidelines and regulations from the state of New York and US Federal Government. In addition, the health and safety of our employees, residents and guests is the most important to us. As of April 2021, quarantine requirements have been lifted for international travelers. We advice all our guests to check the latest updates on the New York State Department of Health's website prior to coming to New York. Regards Francois Luiggi General Manager

I was swept away with visions of everything The Pierre should be when presented with a holiday getaway gift. Unfortunately, it was the opposite during our recent dream getaway.

The purported pictures of working fireplaces were fictitious, the suite had non-operating fireplaces. The complimentary Continental breakfasts were not free as stated, and had the charm of McDonalds every morning with bland biscuits and cafeteria styles of butter and jam.

Asking for real silverware was as if you were asking for the Moon.

Then, the icing on this bad cake was getting screamed at in the Lobby by two people and having them call Security on us when we were admiring the restaurants which are closed due to COVID. The people harassed us and asked us what our Room number was as if we were criminals. After speaking with Management, they did nothing truly to defend our position in the matter.

Then, the drain in the shower clogged and my last relaxing morning consisted of the water flooding the bathroom and the bedroom. Security came and accused me of "doing something" to cause the incident and asked why didn't I stop taking a shower. I was horrified because who leaves shaving cream and soap all over them??

Never again will I stay there....

So disappointed.

An additional comment, the Hotel went Co-Op so there are residents there who show resentment towards Hotel Guests.

I feel financially and emotionally robbed after those Security men barged into my Hotel room and the residents harassed and discriminated against me as a Hotel guest.

Was there last night for a company party of over 500 people. The staff was rude and the service was not as good as they used to be. The before meal treats were great but he main course was horrible. Meat had no taste, the scoop of mashed potato could have been used to play cricket. The crap looking pile of moose dessert was not good and the macaroons almost made me through up. The bars did not have much of a variety. I got bumped, hit and pushed by the wait staff at least 10 times. The old guy taking care of my table took plates away with asking and passed items across 3 people.

The Pierre lives in a prime location across from Central Park in the Upper East side at 61st & 5th Avenue. You are a hop-skip-&-jump from Madison and 5th couture shopping and I was able to walk to St. Patrick's Cathedral and Rockefeller Center.

I was delighted in my Signature Park room with spacious footprint, some Indian objets d'art, wooden antique desk and bedside tables. The large windows afforded a stunning view of Central Park. The high ceilings and sitting area added a homey touch to the surroundings. The bath was marbleized with separate tub and shower.

The Perrine restaurant provides a wide selection of inventive American and Indian dishes. I was a particular fan of the French Onion Soup and the Black Sea Bass.

The Pierre was a little short on amenities, but a fitness center allowed me to maintain my exercise regime. An elaborate ballroom graced the property but I didn't get a chance to practice my dancing. I was disappointed in the service level as staff didn't live up to their Clefs d'Or designation.

So,

The hotel simply should not be open yet. They have very few staff anywhere and are charging outrageous rates considering there is no real room service and no bars or restaurants open. There is no turndown service either and housekeeping is upon request only. Even despite Covid it is clear that they are trying to save money on staff yet still offer this as a hotel. It was hugely over priced and you leave feeling completely ripped off all things considered.

This property is beautifully nostalgic with just enough updates tt o avoid being stuffy or old fashioned. All service staff were exceptional and friendly. It was a spectacular venue for a wedding and I believe the event staff at the Pierre were responsible for all aspects of the event. I only wish they provided coffee/tea to their guests every morning until 10:00 am in the lobby.

I came to NY for a top quality hotel and a relaxing Christmas holiday, before I start on my rant, I have to say how nice and helpful the Concierge, lift staff and restaurant staff were, in particular the beautiful personalities that was the lift lady, Khady and Julio/Jooles from the restaurant.

From the start it became apparent that my credit card would squeezed every which way, even though I had paid in full beforehand for the 2 hotel rooms and bed and breakfast.
An additional hotel facilities tax was charged daily/room which I find wholly unacceptable as I had already paid a premium for 2 rooms, for 12 days, upon reading up about this tax, I understand that only a select few NY hotels charge this.
Initially my included breakfast was also open to additional charges + taxes + tip, I was told my party was given 42 USD per person per day if I strayed from the limited menu, and is limited! particularly if you are stopping 12 days. I have stayed in numerous 5* hotels, and included breakfast IS included breakfast, everywhere except The Pierre! However the day before I checked out after several complaints the extra breakfast charges were cancelled.
Next, the rooms as nice as they were, did not supply a tea/coffee making appliances and supplies which I have come to expect of a 5* hotel, when I confronted the front desk I was told that I could have an expresso machine for an additional cost of 50 USD/room, again after some complaining an expresso machine was later included.
If any glasses or cups were used during our stay the cleaner would remove them but not replenish with clean ones, even after bringing this to the attention of your staff.
On a daily basis I was having to ensure that my room bills were accurate, it became very exhausting having to have it corrected over and over, I chose to finalise and pay my bill the night before checkout, as I was departing early the following morning, and still, on the morning of checkout this was messed up!!
This being said the hotel was very nice, as were the staff.
This hotel comes across as a 5* hotel that charges 5* prices but bills additionally like it is a budget hotel!

Usually I would make sure that I collect my reward points on my hotel visits, but on this experience, I will not being returning to The Pierre Hotel NY or TAJ Hotel ever again!

email concierge or front desk to check, but city view is quite nice. if really want a beautiful & classic view of Central Park, get a park view froom at Mandarin Oriental hotel or Trump International NYC—both have impressive park views and Trump offers a fair rate for this amazing view from near Columbus Circle (probably less than Pierre). Hit Bar/Restaurant at Mandarin Oriental for cocktails w/stunning view! Also, we love the restaurant at the Pierre for any meal—great ambience, service, and food.
