As a seasoned patron who has frequented this establishment over the past decade, it is with great disappointment that I must convey the significant decline in quality experienced since the change of ownership. What was once a beacon of hospitality and comfort has regrettably transformed into a shadow of its former self. The deterioration spans various facets, most notably the palpable decline in customer service. Staff, once attentive and accommodating, now exude an aura of unhappiness and stress, evident in their interactions with guests. It is evident that the change in ownership has precipitated a disregard for the importance of guest satisfaction. Furthermore, the maintenance and general upkeep of both the rooms and the building have markedly deteriorated. Facilities and services, once synonymous with excellence, are now marred by neglect and disrepair. Complementary perks, once a staple of the guest experience, have dwindled in frequency and are often no longer extended. In the past, this establishment was not only recommended to friends but chosen for repeat visits by myself. However, given the current state of affairs, it is with a heavy heart that I declare my intention to cease patronage and dissuade others from doing so as well. Despite filing a formal complaint with the management company, the lack of response further underscores the disregard for customer feedback under the new ownership. It appears that negative customer reviews hold no sway with the current proprietors, signaling a troubling shift in priorities. In conclusion, the decline in quality experienced at this hotel is not merely lamentable but unacceptable. It is my hope that this review serves as a wakeup call to the management, urging them to reassess their approach and prioritize the restoration of excellence that once defined this establishment. Until then, my loyalty and patronage remain elsewhere, and I will not hesitate to inform others of my negative experiences.

It was a really great experience and we had a dope receptionist named Aerial. I hope everyone goes to her for their stay because she will be the best. Hook you up and take care of you the best of her ability. Please also give her 5 stars. I also can admit the looks of the hallways will be deceiving to the room

DON'T STAY HERE!!! Upon our arrival, the desk clerk informed us that our reservation had been canceled, despite the fact that they could provide us with neither a date, time, from whom they received the cancelation, or any other detailed information regarding the cancellation, other than a random letter they supposedly received expressing their "understanding" that sometimes "plans change". Upon being presented this letter, we were repeatedly told to call "them", which we assumed to be the booking agent, since no one at the front desk could tell us who "them" was, nor was there any reference to a "them" on this letter. The manager refused to speak to us and left the front desk when we continued to insist on more information. The hotel reservation phone number referred us to the Front Desk, and the customer service phone number was "no longer in service". There were no other rooms available as the front desk repeatedly responded to us (and other guests at the counter with other various angry concerns) that they were"overbooked". We were forced to find immediate accommodations elsewhere IN MANHATTAN AT 7:00 IN THE EVENING. Needless to say, we had to pay more than double for our accommodations as a result. We suspect that we were "bumped" as we booked a good per night rate and they were able to re-book the room for a customer paying more money. Upon our return home, we found that we had still been charged for the accommodations and it took two months for our credit card company to verify reimbursement of those charges. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE!! DON'T STAY THERE! Granted, we booked the room through TRIVAGO (our first time using that service), and they were non-responsive, as was Algotel (the booking site). ALL TERRIBLE!

Looking at the reviews we were dreading our stay but we were pleasantly surprised! Yes the hotel is dated and in need of upgrading but we found our room to be clean and comfortable. Clean towels every day and rubbish all cleared and tea/coffee facilities topped up. We were on floor 5 and yes we could hear a slight hum of the generator or whatever it was but after a while you just tune it out, it was no louder than the sound of a washing machine in the background or a boiler turning on! At the end of the day its just a place to sleep. The location of this hotel is amazing, less than a 5 min walk to Times Square and plenty of Subway stations near by which we found super easy to use (using City Mapper on our phones) its also on the same block as Ellens Diner which is must to visit! If you have opted for breakfast to be included, its a grab and go breakfast, each day you can get a drink (tea/coffee/juice), a pastry and a piece of fruit, some mornings we got a muffin thrown in too! Yes it was basic but it was still food and easy to eat on the go. There is an added room tax ($40 per night) when you arrive so remember this. Overall we said we would stay here again

Brilliant location and great staff. I was concerned after reading the reviews. I have high standards and usually stay in 4 or 5 star hotels so was genuinely worried. I even thought we might have to cut our losses and book another hotel! The rooms are absolutely fine, really clean, similar to a Travelodge in the Uk. We had no issues at all. The price reflects that the rooms are a bit dated but the location is fantastic! On the last night we saw Back to the Future, with the hotel being right next door to the theatre it just couldn’t have been better! We stayed in room 513

The hotel is very old, and we knew that going in. We had low expectations from reading a variety of reviews. The room was set to 65 upon arrival, but the temp read 71. Only heat was coming out. Called front desk, who said they’d send up an engineer. A nice man came to our door moments later. He simply and quickly explained that the building’s system is currently set to heat because it’s winter, and the system hasn’t been changed over to summer/AC, as it’s February. He offered us the option of a box fan. We called front desk again and one was sent up. Unfortunately, it was rackety and made a ticking noise that was extremely annoying. Even with the windows open, the room remained 71+ for the remainder of our stay. Not having temp control was inconvenient, and I feel like the front desk agent could have offered us the explanation and fan from the get go. Additionally, we turned on the television, and it said no signal. Called the front desk and was told there was a building-wide connection issue and it was being worked on. It was not solved during our stay, so we had zero use of the television. In the bathroom, there were 2 bath towels and a towel for the floor after a shower. There were no hand towels which I found a bit odd. There was also a small dark hair in the soap dish, and a blond hair in the sink, upon arrival. Certainly *could* have been from a cleaner, but I expect the bathroom to not have signs of previous guests. On the nightstand next to the bed, there was what appeared to be leftover rolling tobacco. Surely the nightstand had NOT been wiped down. Thankfully we had brought our own sheets, blankets, and pillows, to put on top of the bed, as I would have felt uncomfortable using theirs, at this point. During the night, around 1am, I called the front desk - multiple times - and no one answered. I tried calling from my cell as well, to no avail. I confirmed the next morning that the front desk is in fact staffed 24/7, so I’m unclear why my calls were unanswered. I was given a verbal apology upon checkout. I did not have time to wait for a manager. I understand that a low rate in such a prime location will not equate to a luxurious 5 star experience. But I wasn’t anticipating luxury; I was expecting clean and functional, and even that bar was not met :(

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We apologize for your experience with us. The hotel is under construction and we do hope you give us another chance once completed. Regarding the HVAC unit, the hotel is a two-air system, which means the hotel can only run in heat or AC. Unfortunately, all individual rooms cannot adjust the temperature. Very disappointed as soon as I entered the floor we were staying on, very dirty carpets and walls stained, very off-putting. The rooms are nothing like the photos. No mini bar in the room and had to ask for tea and coffee! Very noisy hotel inside and out, good location but desperately needs an upgrade and a very deep clean. Made my skin crawl looking at the carpets!!

Don’t go here. Rooms are dated although it’s in a very good location. They charge you upon arrival $280 for “security” and tell you it will be put back onto your card when you leave and you’ll receive it after 14 Buisness days . It’s been months and still nothing. They also ignore emails regarding this.

Fantastic location, but I'm afraid that's it. In dire need of a complete refurbishment, then it will be worth talking about. Staff were friendly enough. Bed clothes were clean and changed every day along with the towels. Carpets were dirty and ripped, wallpaper falling off wall, paint peeling.
