My mom came to nyc for treatment at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Lisa at the front desk was wonderful! I came a few days before my mom's reservation to check out the hotel and Lisa made me feel very welcome and gave me a lovely tour. When plans got rearranged by the hospital, Lisa made changes to her reservation hassle-free. The bellman was very sweet and helpful and the suite was spacious, clean, and quiet and the recliner in the room was great. It was a perfect place for our needs. Thank you to the wonderful staff who made the visit very enjoyable!
My wife and just finished an extended stay in NYC (12 days + 3 days) at the Affinia Garden Suites Hotel (just recently acquired by Sonesta). We loved our stay there, and can hardly say enough. It is a small, unpretentious, and incredibly friendly place, offering every amenity we needed without being "posh or snooty." It is quiet, comfortable, and offered exactly what we needed in a one-bedroom apartment during my treatment at a nearby hospital. We were able to cook most of our meals in (which we wanted), but if we had chosen to eat out every meal, we would have never had to eat twice in the same restaurant within 15 minutes of the hotel by foot. We are walkers, and we found it just perfect for our six visits to the Met, our shopping on Lexington, 3rd, 5th, and Park, and some great excursions in Central Park and along the East River. Access to the subway is easy as well for excursions further afield. However, THE great thing is the staff. Lisa, Krys, Nigel (all at the front desk), and Sabina (our housekeeper) could not have been kinder and more helpful. We inevitably had needs -- extra dishwashing pods, a fresh bathmat, adjusting the AC, carrying luggage -- and the staff was there within minutes, always cheerful and skilled. We will need to come back to NYC from time to time for ongoing treatment, and we won't stay anywhere else, as long as the Affinia Garden Suites retains its family-style, small hotel ambiance and service.…
We booked a 6 night stay for my sister and I to celebrate a 50th birthday, her travelling from the UK, I from New Zealand. We tried to contact the hotel via our booking without success, then phoned from NZ to see if they could assist with airport transfers and grocery ordering; the retailer only accepts USA cards. They gave me an email address for reception, which I used twice without success. When we arrived at the hotel they advised that they had noted the enquiry on our booking, they made no comment as to how they had missed responding to the 2 emails. Interestingly when we questioned the bill to the same email address we received a response pretty quickly Every morning we said “hi” to the desk staff, evenings we also made an effort to ask how they were. Not once did any of them ask about our plans for the day, offer a friendly word or advice, nor ask how our day had been. Though they had noted the birthday, no enquiry was made as to how we would celebrate, in short, there was complete disinterest in us as guests. We had a good sized room, great little kitchen though under equipped, serviceable but elderly bathroom. Beds were firm but comfortable, however pillows were cheap and lumpy. There was not a cushion to either bed or the sofa. The housekeeping was very generous with towels, and kept everything at eye level clean, though a good dust to corners would improve matters. The only facility the hotel appears to offer is a small gym, to be charged a considerable sum for this is unwelcome. Surely this should be charged on a per use basis Our rating is based on a great sized room, reasonable house keeping, and the location in close proximity to the subway, an amazing supermarket and good local restaurants. We were slightly thrown buy those reviews that commend the staff for being friendly. The only comments made to us were by one individual member, who asked daily after my sisters missing suitcase; no offer was made to assist us with this…
Affinia Gardens hotel is perfectly situated for where we needed to be. Staff is friendly and accommodating. Rooms are spacious and well-equipped. Parking was also conveniently located nearby. Plenty of restaurants in the area as well as an easy way to order for delivery.
Had 2 adults and 4 kids and this was the perfect option for us. We wanted to be close to central park so location worked great for us. Easy to get there via subway from Penn station. Room had lots of space. Having a kitchen fridge was helpful to keep drinks cold and a microwave to warm up some leftovers. Room had a small dining table, two queen sized beds and a pull out couch - which honestly was not great and was very creaky but it is pretty much what you expect from a pull out couch. Would stay here again!
We stayed one night in anticipation of an appointment at Memorial Sloan-Kettering. The hotel was very close to the MSK facilities, and it was certainly a large suite (by NYC standards). The desk staff were so nice and professional. Still, would never stay here again. There was black mold by the AC (see pic) and the shower drain control was literally falling apart and non-functional (in a closed position, so the tub flooded with every shower). For more than $400/night, this was totally unacceptable. This hotel desperately needs a renovation.
My husband had to have surgery at MSK. You gave us a discount and you were very close to the hospital. The hotel was spotless! The beds were super comfortable. The room was spacious and the kitchen extremely clean and Efficient. The hotel staff were warm and inviting! A feeling of safety at all times while in the room. I recommend anyone dealing with a loved one that is in the hospital this hotel is great!
I Thank Nigel at the front desk to give me a quiet, sunny ,good view room #811. He has been friendly and quick to response for any requests I had. Also bellman Skyer is great help from the day one. They made my stay very comfortable, and I will return to this hotel next time I am in NYC. I wanted to avoid crowded and loud Times Square area. Hotel Room is large, plenty closet spaces, and a kitchen. Nice and quiet residential upper east side area. A great burger joint Jackson-hall is across the street (as well as many other eateries) Morton Williams around the corner. Quick access to many subway lines and Cross town buss, the location of the hotel is unbeatable for me. Minor set back was room cleaning, water glass was never replace or cleaned entire 6 nites stay. Also hair dryer was never put it away. But it was not issue at all. Just that everything else was excellent. My suggestion to the hotel is to give guests choices of how often they want having room cleaning - for an environmental prospects. Some of guests may choose clean towels and sheets every 2-3 days or room cleaning for a good cause.…
The room was super spacious and clean ! Would definitely stay here again. It had such a cute little living room and kitchen with fridge stove and dishwasher which came with all the stuff to cook with . And two beds . Super comfortable
Spacious clean suites with full kitchen , small bathroom with grab bar and tub, two comfortable queen beds, two TVs, wardrobe, drawers, dining table and LR set. Did not appreciate street noise nor dumpster view from Room 409 or unresponsive temperature control in Bedroom. Sticker shock @ $500+/night. Blindsided by facility fee payable to hotel for phone, WiFi and Gym since we used none of these.
